Jamie, Sam, Brienne, the Hound, Jorah (rode with the Dothraki charge, should've died then). Everyone in the Crypt tbh, there are SO many levels of the Dead buried under there (thousands) and they weren't really armed or battle ready.

    Every time they said in their reaction that they thought everyone was going to die, or major characters was going to die, it just made this episode even worse knowing that nobody is going to die. Jorah hasn't even been a main character for several seasons now. He was only really important in the first couple, then got sidelined by others.

He was definitely one of few moral compasses that truly kept Danny grounded 🥲 Gosh I remember SOBBING while watching this! My theory: Bran went back in time and manipulated the past to create an outcome in the present, just as he did with Hodor. When Bran warged at the tree, he literally went back in time and saw it through all eyes at once and manipulated actions, reactions, war, births, deaths and even resurrections so that the perfect end to winter could occur. For example: who was sending Jojen those visions, the boar that killed King Robert, the crows that alerted Sam when he killed the walker, the moose and the wolf that died season 1 that brought forth the wolf pups, and lastly…the Lord of Light…ALL BRAN!!! Like Dr Strange, he went through time and timeline after timeline, winter after summer and winter again, created the perfect end.

    Most of that I can see, but with Robert wasn't it basically said at some point (IIRC a convo between Cersei and Tyrion) that Cersei and Lancel (sp?) had drugged his wine that he was drinking while hunting, anyways? I thought the boar was just a more convenient thing that happened, that he couldn't fight it because he was more drugged/loopy off the wine than usual.

    SPOILERS FOR THE FEW LASTS EPISODES. REACTORS DONT READ! - - - - - - - - - - - - I would've loved it if Bran after warging a little and understanding, he went full on "welp, u fucked my legs, and killed a lot of my friends and familly, i WILL be the last standing" and started to check how he could become what he will be. Even maybe making sure he gets crippled and in the first place. But it would've been good to have hints before, like ppl not understanding what they just did, cuz "older" Bran warg into them. Or some that wouldn't work so he would need others to push them to do what happened. Idk, everytime i see someone (in cinema / stories) having future visions (or future manipulation/timetravel/timelines) and stuff, it's mostly good guys, cuz a bad guy / grey character having it would be hella powerful. (which is why i really like Kang for now in the mcu) Anyway, that's my rant about it :')

    @fakecubed Exactly! There's too many people who want to let D&D off the hook by coming up with wild theories. And this is actually a solid theory, but it was barely touched upon in the series bar some brief moments involving Bran and Ned at the Tower of Joy, and Hodor's incident. They clearly meant to build upon something, especially given that the Night King marked Bran, but it was rushed to conclusion and most of that exposition was left behind.

    Jon vs the NK is some hokey fan-service sh*t that makes no sense within the overall theme of the battle, which is hopelessness. This battle is not supposed to be, for the lack of a better word, 'fun'. It's supposed to be a dreary slog where the prospects of the good guys grow less and less hopeful with each passing minute right until Arya's lunge at the NK. The NK having a cute little showdown against Jon would be not only against the spirit of the episode but also be completely unrealistic even if he had not chosen to do the most logical thing and that is raise the dead. Theon's example clearly shows how unprepared someone with conventional training would be against him.

  • @grimapocalypse5969

    @grimapocalypse5969

    @SerbAtheist a show needs a little " fan service". The whole white walker story line was teased for 8 seasons. Jon was linked to this whole plot line since season 1. He's literally the song of fire and ice. He's the prince that was promised. It would've have been even been considered fan service to have them clash for a few before he raised the dead. Infact it would've been more cinematic to have them 1v1 for a moment and then have him raise the dead in the nick of time. The whole battle did have the hopelessness theme and was literally unwinnable unless the night king died. So why not tease it a bit and atleast pay off seasons of foreshadowing and plot. And theon literally ran at him with a spear. How is that " conventional' lmao. Season 8 was rushed, D and D were given an UNLIMITED budget and episode count to finish it and they said nah we got this. There's no excuse or reasoning it was laziness. Get off D and Ds nuts if you think arya killing the night king out by jumping out of a tree and doing some weird knife drop was not fan service compared to the literal prince that promised prophecy/ whole story arch for Jon paying off. Gtfo lmao

  • @SerbAtheist

    @SerbAtheist

    @@grimapocalypse5969 'He's literally the song of fire and ice. He's the prince that was promised.' Yes, but that doesn't mean killing the NK is his role. I can't spoil anything so read the story of Azor Ahai making his sword and all will be clear and notice the following sentence: 'However, when he went to temper it in water, the sword broke.' So as you can see, the audience COMPLETELY misunderstood Jon's story. 'Infact it would've been more cinematic to have them 1v1 for a moment and then have him raise the dead in the nick of time. ' Why would the NK waste time on a random nobody, and yes to him Jon is just another random soldier, when it is Bran he is after? ' And theon literally ran at him with a spear.' Ummm, that was a desperate last stand that was an obvious payoff for his character, but also equally obvious something doomed to fail. Your point? 'Season 8 was rushed, D and D were given an UNLIMITED budget and episode count to finish it and they said nah we got this. ' You guys sound like that cabin lady from Misery. Just because HBO wanted to continue milking their cash cow and the audience wanted the story to go on forever like a telenovela doesn't mean it was the right choice for the show. Just look at what happened to the Walking Dead! The story had a concrete point and reason for it. It was quite simply time for it to end. Cersei's destruction of the sept signaled the beginning of the end. All that could be said about the nature of power and good rule was already said and all that was left in the final season was for the final two story lines to play out, only they stretched it out to two seasons of 13 episodes, but in actuality 15.5 standard episodes considering many were 50% larger than early-season episodes, so you as an audience member got significantly more than what was initially planned. And how dare you call them lazy? They spend a decade of their lives on this thing and gave you 73 episodes of top tier fantasy content of nearly cinematic quality! Look at HOTD, already more than 2 years for the second season and just 8 episodes instead of 10. You'll be lucky if it makes it to 4 seasons. We have an expression in Serbian: 'You'll be making GOT out of mud!'

I was one of the former, because the wyght that killed Jojen was basically just a skeleton. Some strong How to Train Your Dragon vibes in that scene. My only gripe is how many main people lived when there were scenes where they should've died. Specifically Brienne and Sam come to mind, moments when they were literally being swarmed and they still lived. I don't have a problem with the fact people lived, but it just seemed weird to show some of them basically in a moment where they should've died and later they're 'fine'. And that music gives me chills just hearing it start. Such an amazing score, same with the sept that Cersei blew up, same composer IIRC. Excellent storytelling through visuals and music alone.

    Omg that's hysterical!! I have screenshots of my youtube "Son" Tomaj jumping up on the couch at that moment, then shock when he thinks she will get strangled, then arms raised when she gets him. I wanted to do a collage frame for him, but he doesn't have a p.o. box. I sent the pics on discord.

    Burlington Bar/Sean Tank Top is a great channel. I live about a mile away from the bar which is in Chicago and have been there a few times. GREAT people.
