At last! Geena Davis wrote in her autobiography that she still holds out hope for a sequel. Sam Jackson died in the original version, but they reshot the ending because he deserved to live.

The movie was a box office flop because the studio didn't know how to market it. It was the 90s and they didn't know how to market a "girl boss" movie. In an interview, Samuel L. Jackson said that tried to tell them to just market it during daytime soaps and women would drag their men to see it. But 10 months earlier Geena Davis' _Cutthroat Island_ was a mega-flop and the studio had no confidence it her. Too bad, the writer, Shane Black had planned for a sequel. This was the reason that the ending was changed to make Samuel L. Jackson's character Mitch survive.

Geena Davis doesn't get enough credit for being such a badass action star especially during that time, she's such a trailblazer. Plus she was elevated by Shane Black's excellent writing and putting modern Hollywood to shame. To think I watched this as a kid and was so enamored with her, plus Craig Bierko was a true evil bad guy with no redeeming qualities. Samuel L. Jackson had so much chemistry with her and he considers this one of his favourite movies.

Geena Davis is many things, but small isn't one of them. Slender, maybe, but at 6 feet tall she is one hell of a presence when she walks into a room. She is also an Olympic caliber archer and can take an eyeball out at 100 yards with a bow and arrow, so never underestimate her badassery. She is 100% as badass as she is beautiful and that's a fact! Oh, and also my childhood crush. ♥️👍🏼😁 Cheers!

I LOVE 'The Long Kiss Goodnight'. An unapologetic badass female who does not chase down the bad guys in high heels and a dress. I love when Mitch tells her to come save him and her response is 'It will be minute'. The end - she figures out she can be both - the person who loves to teach, be a mom AND still be a badass when needed.

Good movie. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie when it was released. Ashleigh you saw Geena Davis in The Fly but her and Jeff Goldblum also stared together in a (Earth Girls Are Easy) from 1988 ‧ Comedy Sci-fi. Geena Davis looks incredible in it. It also has Jim Carrey before his breakout role in Ace Ventura. The first movie I ever saw Jim Carrey in was a cheesy Vampire comedy called Once Bitten from 1985. It was on TV in Oct.

Davis and Goldblum also starred together in the 1985 horror satire TRANSYLVANIA 6-5000. I’m likely wrong, but I think that’s where they met and went onto to do THE FLY and EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY together (which also stars Damon Wayons and Julie Brown - I love that goofy film).

Samuel L Jackson himself has gone on record TWICE, both years before and after avengers, that this is his FAVORITE movie he's ever been in!! 🥰😍🥰 THAT speaks volumes to me! I imagine Ripley(Alien) and Charlie sitting in a bar after spending all day trying to 1 up each other and some idiot busts in shooting and they just kick back say "Eh, let the men get off their a**es today" 🤣🤩

It is one of the greatest crimes of cinema as to how Geena Davis isn't mentioned in the same breath as Bruce Willis when listing off great action movie heroes. Also I hope you're learnign Ashleigh that the appearance of the name 'Shane Black' alongside 'screenplay' is as worthy of as great jumpy-up-and-down-excitement as seeing Samuel L. Jackson's name in the opening credits. Also gotta love how Mitch is just a nice guy. So many films nowadays would go, "Muah ha! Mitch bad!" or "Boo! Mitch coward!" But no, he's just a nice guy, husband and father. I like that.

About a week or so ago, a lot of little kids, probably 3-6 years old, maybe 7 I dare say tops and about 6 or 7 adults came thru the apartment complex I live in. They had Christmas music playing loud and the kids and adult were singing songs as they walked around the complex. "Jingle Bells", "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Silent Night" are the songs I could hear before they got to far to hear anymore. 52 years old and this, to the best I recall, is the only time I ever heard Carolers. It was so fun and cute to see those kids, wishing people a Merry Christmas between songs. Melted my heart.

Die Hard, Batman Returns, Gremlins, Edward Scissorhands, Just Friends, and The Long Kiss Goodnight are in that category. I was so excited to see you were gonna react to this, so glad you loved it! Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson are fantastic together, and of course the dastardly yet tasty Craig Bierko😍

I had a great time watching you have a great time. You asked, "What movie is this from," about the comedy on the old lady's TV. It is from the Three Stooges short, _Disorder in the Court._ The title seems to foreshadow the situation Samantha/Charlie will find herself in. Later in the movie we see Elliott Gould in a scene from the 1973 detective mystery, _The Long Goodbye._ I assume the similarity of the titles is the joke there. Let me put on your radar for next Summer the Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum Sci-Fi comedy, _Earth Girls Are Easy._ It is set in Southern California and much of the film Davis is in a bikini, so you'll be able to scream, "She's so tiny!" multiple times.

Next to "Outbreak", this is my big sister's favorite movie. Also, I love Geena Davis...she's AWESOME. I can't explain that a woman just randomly chooses to pick up a bow at 40+ years of age and almost qualified for the Olympics. As someone who loves bow shooting (the sport, not the hunting option)...I have great aim. I was never strong enough. And physically, I couldn't get stronger...my health worked against me (asthma and other autoimmune diseases). Like she just DID the splits in "A League of Their Own". She didn't practice that.

Christmas caroling is absolutely real. When I was a kid my church choirs, adult and kids choirs together, went caroling. Mostly to the homes of older people who couldn't get out much. What is not real, however, is running away from explosions or virtually anything else that happens in the action scenes. Way too over the top and completely unbelievable, but still a fun movie! Davis and Jackson are both great, have great chemistry on film, and the dialogue is really funny. 👍

Fun Fact: Shane Black also was the writer of Lethal Weapon (1987) and Monster Squad (1987, co-authored with Fred Dekker, the film's director). Prior to that moment, he actually appeared in the movie Predator (1987) as Hawkins (the guy in the glasses who was was telling dirty jokes), which he also served as the script doctor for. But Lethal Weapon placed him on the map as a creator, and nearly every one of his scripts either takes place completely during the Christmas season or has at least one scene that does. He would also write the script for The Last Boy Scout (1991), which starred Bruce Willis. He also written and directed Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005), which stars Robert Downey, Jr. (whom he would end up directing in Iron Man 3) and Val Kilmer. He also directed The Nice Guys (2016) with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Every movie I mentioned here are definitely worth the time in checking out if you're interested. :D

Christmas Caroling used to be a thing. I'm old enough to remember it. It was back when people went to the church in their neighborhood. The Church choir would sing in their neighborhood. Mostly visiting the home of the church members who were elderly shut ins as they got fewer people calling on them to visit. Now in my moms small town. Really, a small small town. People not only never locked their doors but left coffee going in case someone dropped in when you were not home. Carolers would go around from the towns three churches. they would sing at a house and the people at the house would then let them in to warm up, drink coffee and eat some cookies or a snack. This was when people knew all of their neighbors. and most people in town. I saw this as a young kid, we don't see it anymore, I think because people don't go to their church in their neighborhood, they drive their cars across town, caroling would no longer be a walk around the streets of your home, but a car convoy around town, destroying the real reason it was fun. Walking with each other and talking with everyone in your group. I think we have lost alot as time moved on.
