Nice review. I think the changes are subtle and that they’re still the same car, but with slightly more branding identity than before. I’ve had the Yaris version for three years and think it’s about the best car available for everyday driving on UK roads.

There is also the Toyota GT86 & Subaru BRZ Tish. Glad the facelift looks a bit more like a Mazda as a Mazda fan.

The lights are the same as those on the Yaris facelift, in the base version. To be a fairer comparison, it should be both Mazda 2s with the same level of equipment, and not the more equipped version of the pre-facelift compared to the less equipped version of the facelift.

This is an interesting comparison, though I wish you were comparing the new generation Yaris to the new generation 2 instead.

Fair enough ☺️ the screen is slightly larger in the Mazda as standard. Because we’re a Mazda dealer, it was more about our own changes 😁

Yer I didn’t really know where to stand on those types of cars; like with Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall 🤔 does it still count as a re-badge? I guess so

In Australia the Mazda2 and the Toyota Yaris are totally different but we did one time get the Toyota Yaris and Mazda3 were the same car maybe in Australia the biggest selling brands are Toyota first have been for the past 25 years and of course Mazda is number two and you can see this on the road and we're l live on one side they own two Mazda SUVs and on the other side there is a Mazda3 and a Toyota Corolla and we have a 1997 Toyota Hilux and a Suzuki Baleno infact there is another bit of badge engineering with the new Toyota Starlet and Glanza both rebadged Suzuki Balenos the Glanza for the domestic lndian market and the Starlet for the export market if you go to South Africa both the Suzuki Baleno and the Toyota Starlet are available and another peice of badge entering was the 1990s Toyota Hilux and the Volkswagen Taro built by Volkswagen under license they are exactly the same as the Toyota Hilux but with a VW badge and they are the best Volkswagen ever made so Volkswagen did build a reliable vehicle after all it was a 1990s Hilux that is one of the most reliable vehicles ever made there are other extremely reliable vehicles made but l very pleased to own my 1997 Toyota Hilux it will outlast me good for another 27 years

This new facelift has a horrible headlights and one to avoid at any cost. They are halogen bulbs filament and so poor and provide very little light, night drivers you will hate the car because of it.

Often when filming, you do not notice until you watch it back how often words have been repeated. it's not the easiest job, perhaps you could have a go?

@@johnbanksreviews you are not the only one who overuses the word, and your reviews are generally good. But when you described the rear light bar on a Yaris as iconic, well...
