@@sidharthkammili Nah - If James had played an idol at F7, Todd would've gone home since he got Peih Gee and Eriks votes. I still don't think James would've won the season, but it definitely would've given Peih Gee or Erik or Amanda a shot.

@@spencerclark4726 Nope - Erik decided to (stupidly) vote for James instead of Todd so it's a 1-1 tie between Todd and Peih-Gee and Peih-Gee's the clear outsider so she goes home on the revote.

James really wasn’t thinking , even if he played one of the idols and played it wrong he would be good caues he has another one

He wanted the guarantee of final 4, and banked that his alliance would stay strong for one more vote. But yeah, he wasn't thinking that his alliance would turn on him at 7. However, if he does play one, it signals to his alliance that James doesn't trust them, which creates a showdown at final 6 where he likely becomes the target and HAS to play the second idol just to stay. At that point, he might have to keep winning individual immunity (which he wasn't very strong at) to stay in at final 5 and/or 4.

@@kylepleban6956 Doubt that. The F6 immunity involved navigatig an obstacle course and knowledge of Chinese history. I doubt James would have been able to keep up with the much smaller Peih-Gee, Amanda, and Todd, who were making quick work of the obstacles. The F5 immunity involved parts of previous challenges, with the top performers moving on. The first part involved throwing stars at targets. James was decent at this challenge, but Erik won previously. The second part involved eating balut. James eventually won his battle against Denise in an earlier challenge, but both essentially gave up--while in this version, Peih-Gee and Amanda killed it. There's basically no way James outperforms the ladies here, who moved on to a wheel puzzle for the final part. The final immunity involved balancing plates and bowls on a wobbly arm. Amanda was rock-solid here, and I highly doubt James beats her here either. James is aces in tribal challenges, where brute strength is far more valuable. In the individual challenges, however, his size and weight are often a hinderance.

James Hill Yeah but in retrospect, voting out Jason with an idol might’ve actually cost Cirie the game. If Jason had played the idol, James would’ve been voted out instead of getting evacuated and messing up the schedule and forcing a F2.

i think that when faced with the threat of a super idol, tai played it the best way. he did not use the super idol for it's intended purpose. rather he lured scott into a sense of security to cut him off after. how amazing.

Im just putting this out there voting Chelsea out was really stupid but I do think Chels did not read the situation well at tribal when in doubt play the damn thang

It’s only been 4 episodes of Island of the Idols and so far 2 people have been voted out with idols. Sadly my fav Chelsea was one of them

Great video as usual!! Don't know if you take suggestions, or maybe even ideas, but I thought of something that could make an interesting video: Biggest Make or Break Moments Not so much a challenge threat who is a target wins immunity one time, stays 3 more days, just to get voted out later, but huge moments in someone's game that could cause them to pivot to a success story (and maybe the moment is so insignificant they don't realize it at first)

anyone back after watching Season 46? I was hoping Peridiam would make a video, and was happy to see he already had :)

It sucks, but kinda funny they were shown one after the other but Jason (Micronesia) and then Brandan (Tocantins) were probably my favourite players of those seasons, two very likable, and in my opinion underrated players, sucks to see them both go... would love to see both of them play again Who knows maybe they'll make a season of people who didn't play idols!

I don't think the novelty of the gameplay is the primary factor for idol blindsides when they had just been introduced. In China, and in Micronesia everyone had a good idea of who had the idol because of exile island. Idols are powerful, but way less powerful without the element of surprise

This might be a hot take but I think it's better to be voted out with a hidden immunity in you're pocket than to miss play a hidden immunity and be voted out afterwards. If you miss play a idol in a majority alliance you have just pressed button to say hey I don't trust some of y'all. Plus you have proven you're Easter egg hunting skills and with some many idols advantages in modern Survivor that can be seen as threatening. God bless :-)

You forgot to mention one of the best first time players in Survivor when David Genat got blindsided with an idol in his pocket, had he played it he probably would've went on to win that season

just got an idea for a new season, everyone starts the game with an idol but no new idols can be found after

If I ever go on survivor I'd love to get voted out with an idol in my pocket, because I get to go home with an authentic Hidden Immunity Idol.

I played Roblox Outlaster and everytime I had an idol, I immediately played it even if it meant 0 votes against me so that I don't become the next in line to be voted out with an idol in my pocket

In China there were 2 more tribals you could play the idol after the tribal James got voted out, so if he had not gotten voted out he was officially in F4. Would’ve almost definitely won 1 of 2 individual immunities leading up to then too for protection so he should’ve play one.

Season 46 we have 5 people IN A ROW get voted out with an idol in their pocket. Every single time I ask myself, "How stupid are they?" And every single time they think "I'm not stupid enough to get voted out with an idol in my pocket," but then they do. So here's how I think I would think about it: Pascal's wager. You know, the one about whether or not it makes sense to believe in God. The same logic applies to immunity idols. It's better to be wrong and still be in the game, than to be wrong and get voted out. If you have an idol in the post-merge portion of the game, play it. Idols only work when you play them.

It almost makes me wonder if there's some secret rule that if you have an idol, you're not allowed to play it. I can't think of any other reason why people would hold on to them like that.

In the first few seasons, people were idiots. Oh, he has an idol? Then we can't vote him out. Ever. Because he might play it.

Brendan’s voteoff was not at his second Tribal Council. It’s easy to accidentally think that though when he went to exile after an Immunity Challenge. However, he did return for Candace’s voteoff, then Jerry’s, and then his.

And also people are better at orchestrating blindsides, so it's no longer a matter of poor gameplay by the idol holder so much as good gameplay by the other contestants.

You never considered how many idols were played that didn't need to, the person didn't get any points. I feel like a lot of people are afraid of not playing it correctly.

I fully blame Scot for his mistake because there was no reason why he shouldn't have played it before the vote. That would be safer plus this way you don't waste 2 idols when it's enough to just play 1. It seemed like the only reason he wanted to play it after the vote was to be able to rub it in people's faces which was a terrible move.

There have been two more this season.
