The Lone Ranger Returns

Фильм және анимация

The 1939 serial, "The Lone Ranger Rides Again," edited down to a feature length film by fan editor Billy Batson.
The only known copy of this serial is a 16mm reduction print found in Mexico in the 1970s. The print has Spanish subtitles and the copy used for this transfer looks like it has been run past a belt sander and then stored in a jumbled mass under someone's bed for 30 years. In addition, the DVD version used as the source for this edit looks to be a multi-generation dupe; the night scenes are extremely dark, one reel is nearly washed out, sound quality is variable, and the picture for most of one significant scene was lost where the film came off the projector track when the film was originally mastered to tape. Being from an old 16mm film, the focus is a bit soft, and has been made somewhat softer by Batson panning and scanning each individual shot in order to eliminate the Spanish subtitles. Still, the film is watchable and you get what you pay for.
If you enjoyed this film or would like to see the complete serial (which is how these films should be seen), a much better transfer, along with considerable restoration work by Eric Stedman, is highly recommended and available for purchase at The Serial Squadron: www.serialsquadron.com/serials...

I love this….I’ve always loved the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Silver and Scout their horses, but this one is probably one I might have seen at a matinee, and as serial before the main movie was being shown, one of those “who done its” which kept one coming back for another chapter each week. If I could afford it, I was going back each time to watch it. One thing I do remember was all the matinees that were being held and shown in theaters at special events during the summer months being called ‘kids days.” Children were given either special tickets or coupons or booklets to attend the matinees, and the cost then was only $.50 cents to attend or someone was helping to attend lol. My how time flies…..😅😅😅😅….Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels will always be my favorite actors and heroes for the Lone Ranger and Tonto, along with their horses Silver and Scout. Clayton Moore did a lot to help teach children respect and responsibility for firearms, and as far as I’m concerned, he is, and always will be, the Lone Ranger and my hero in my eyes, and earned the right to keep his mask and title for the Lone Ranger. RIP Clayton and Jay, you will always be remembered and be my heroes….HIGH 5….❤️🙏🏼

You know there's been times in my past that my son would complain about the movie on TV being black and white but I was raised with black and white so I never even noticed it.

Third, actually. There was the Radio, and another serial that came before this. And if you were referring to the actor, he would be about the seventh, I believe, to play The Lone Ranger. But this is definitely an early appearance of the Ranger in media.🙂

I often wondered what it would have been like to have created a justice team with the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Cisco Kid, Zorro, Hop Along Cassidy, and Roy Rogers, Sort of a Western version of the Avengers!?

An addition to that would be The Durango Kid. He was a little known character, the movies were "B" movies, but they were interesting and the character was great. Here's a link to one of his movies if you're interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2Sjr7uDpcrIm7w.html
