you know I never really thought about it before, but out of all the travelers when it comes to the sun exploding, I think Chert has it the worst. for you and Gabbro it's just "eh whatever there's always the next loop", the other travelers are completely unaware of it, meanwhile Chert, unaware of the loop, has to go through a never-ending cycle of existential dread; questioning why they ever bothered doing anything since their star and every other star is exploding

I just realized at 28:22 that the reason the Nomai ended up in Dark Bramble is because the signal went through Dark Bramble and then to them. So the destination of the signal was always Bramble and not the eye.

What do you mean? It went through all sorts of things before it got to the Nomai, that wouldn't change the origin point of the signal 🤔 I always figured it was due to the space-warping nature of the bramble and the impreciseness of their target (the Vessel's log mentioned they targetted a point in the "general area" of the eye, or something to that effect), considering the volume of space inside the bramble vs the rest of this system, it's probably a decent chance that any random point near the eye would end up somewhere in bramble space 🤷

@@TlalocTemporal that still doesn't make any sense? the eye has never been in the bramble, so there's still no reason its signal would ever come from the bramble. @@Kav_GamesIn a matter of speaking, yeah his playthrough is really good in many ways. Although if you have an Xbox or PC, I highly implore you to get Halo MCC and play at least the original 3 Halo games. Even though they are over 20 years old at this point (and a bit janky lol), they deserve their legendary status. Just make sure to play Halo Reach AFTER 3, because it’s a prequel that expects you to have already played the prior games, but 343 Games is silly and placed it before the originals. If I haven’t convinced you though, yeah Living Sun’s playthrough is very cool.
(Spoiler warning below:) I only just now realized, when listening to his speculation, that the reason they warped into Dark Bramble may be because the signal they received came from dark bramble. It's like how audio from Dark Bramble can be heard from both Dark Bramble and the seed on Timber Hearth. The signal from the Eye of the Universe may have bounced into one of Dark Bramble's seeds (not necessarily in the same solar system), exited through Dark Bramble itself, and then reached the Nomai from there.
Wow. As soon as my Outer Wilds itch came back Eelis posts another supercut. Can't thank you enough and please, never ever stop making these.

Dunno where else to put this, but I haven’t seen anyone else comment on it. When you observe the galaxy in the eye museum and it zooms out showing the museum is on top of the sphere part of the eye, I’m pretty certain that is a nod to Solaris (a classic Russian sci-fi movie about a planet that can manifest people from memories). It’s a pretty long movie, but I think it’s a good watch with a similar existential tone to OW (the original, not the remake).
If I could make a suggestion for future supercuts, there's a streamer - Holly Hollowtones - who has VODs of their outer wilds playthrough on youtube, and I really love her (and her cohost's) playthrough.

If you're looking for more playthroughs to turn into supercuts, Nerdcubed (www.youtube.com/@NerdCubed) did one way back when the game first came out that I'd love to watch again cut-down. It's not that long (he managed the whole game in 28 loops!) but it has one of the weirdest progressions I've seen across all the playthroughs I've seen - he visits Giant's Deep first! I think he might have streamed EotE at some point too.

Dementia would be a blessing
Something that occurred to me only while watching this playthrough, for some reason, is that the Nomai's plan to find the Eye would have broken the fabric of spacetime. They were going to fire up the project and instantly receive information from infinite probes from 22 minutes in the future, then disable the project, job done, never exploding the sun in the first place. ("We can end the loop at will.") But then the source of the information would never exist. Boom: "You broke the fabric of spacetime" ending.
@AbsoluteHuman
4 ай бұрын
I mean... By the in game logic only the matter transfer breaks the universe. Since if you jump into the hole in ATP and your clone shows up in the next loop you can break the universe by not jumping again to justify his existence. But getting your memories from the same hole each loop and sending back essentially new ones is fine. Also the whole time loop by design is not deterministic so yeah... It either is impossible or works fine as is. Not really connected to the ATP restart.
And another one bites the dust! :)

what about lukael plays' playthrough!
why are there only 9354 probes fired at 50:30ish
6:28 it was at this point, unbeknownst to the poor hearthian, that an ancient machine in a future timeline was activated by the oncoming supernova caused by the inevitable end of the universe, setting into motion millions of loops triggered by a black hole powered time machine the size of a planet, encased in supernova proof alloy, for the singular purpose of launching a probe in the search for a signal known only to be older then the universe itself, which, unknown even to the creators of this multiplanetary project, had been concealed by an ancient race which could not bear the knowledge of the universe's end. Yet as all this happened in a single instant, nobody was aware that anything at all was amiss, and so the hatchling being the only hearthian connected and interested to care about figuring out what's going on, was sent on an epic journey to roar across the skies, see the sights, roast some marshmellows, and ultimately, reset the universe.
