Paragon is the character I *love* the most, but Kennit is the one I find the most incredibly written.

By far my favorite non spoiler reviews/reviewer the fact that you get to touch on every aspect that makes a book/series great or interesting in detail is so helpful. If I would compare you to others they often talk about the book in five minutes or less, Im a fan of indepth reviews (without the need of bringing up spoilers) so you can imagine how happy I am when I see these kinds of reviews. Great channel!

I stayed up until 2 am to finish reading the ship of destiny last night, and let me tell you, having finished these books, i want to wipe my memory so i can read them again for rhe first time. What an amazing trilogy. I came into ship of magic skeptical about it and all of my misgivings were completely unfounded. Im very emotional about it actually XD.

Your review is meaty, and insightful without stealing my reading experience away from me. I am all in. I will purchase the entire series. I dig character development! I am looking forward to viewing some of your other videos.

Loved hearing your spoiler-free thoughts on this series, though I have to say that I am dying to hear your spoilery reactions in that liveshow!! Super exciting that you have that planned! Totally agree with you on the character work. I personally didn't really click with Fitz in Farseer, so I was SO happy when I did get really emotionally invested in this cast of characters... and boy oh boy, the range of emotions I experienced, just insane!! Hobb's pacing remains a constant struggle for me, but these were absolutely the most engaging works I have read by her so far. I only have the final trilogy left and will probably start that next month... though I have to admit that I am more excited to reread Liveships than to finish out the RotE, lol. Anyway, I am so happy that you adored this one so much! Excellent review, your enthusiasm is just the best 🥰

Theo, Liveships is Hobb's technical best trilogy. The pacing is the most consistent. The characters are all insanely good. The plot and mysteries within are masterfully woven. The *ONLY* reason this isn't at the very top of my favourites list is that I'm so attached to characters who got 3x as much page time. Get on it. 😁

Well done! I also, just finished the last book and really enjoyed it. I thought Hobb did a wonderful job threading all the story lines together in the end. [Spoilers] Same here!! I found Kennit so despicable for being utterly self-centered and manipulative, and then with his near-death and his growing relationship with Wintrow he completely transformed for me. Such a subtle shift, but one that completely turns him around!!

Technically, you don't...however, I would suggest starting with Assassin's Apprentice and reading the farseer trilogy first! That said, if you really want to start with Liveships you absolutely can and then go back and read Farseer...I just DEFINITELY would not read any of the others before reading those two!

Is it required to read the other Robin Hobb trilogy (Farseer) before getting into this one? I have heard MUCH more good things about The Liveship Traders trilogy compared to Farseer so I want to know if I can skip straight to the good stuff.

Great questions! My genuine suggestion would be to definitely read Farseer first as there are more in common between the two than you may think and it makes sense chronologically and on the overall story. Also, Farseer is incredible!! If you have zero intention of reading any of the Realm of the Elderlings books besides Liveships, than I would say go ahead and read them first, but if you are reading the whole series I would definitely go in publication order and read Farseer! @@adamtideman4953 No problem! If you really want to start with Liveship, I know a few people who did that and then went back to Farseer and ended up being okay so I think it’d be okay, I’d just recommend doing the reverse! Regardless though, you’re reading Hobb so enjoy!!

the conclusion with Kenneth felt bad. i'm not sure why Hobb did him dirty like that in the end. feels rushed and just pointless. but fun series other then that.

Ahhh yeah I understand why you feel that way…in my opinion, Kennit is a villain and despite the fact that he’s so layered and is easily one of the best written characters I’ve read in fantasy, I think that after looking back on the whole trilogy the signs were there from the very beginning in terms of where his character was heading. I think part of Hobbs intention was for the reader to feel betrayed by Kennit as he ended up being everything you didn’t want him to be despite him being very clear in his intentions. It puts the fault on me as the reader for not acknowledging Kennits true character while reading before it was too late and I think that’s all part of why he’s such a phenomenally written character and why Hobb is such an exceptional character writer. I’m glad you enjoyed the trilogy overall! I am always thinking back on how amazing I found this story to be!

@@TallGuyReads in the very last book of Farseer, the ship defends him in a way, pointing out the terrible trauma he experienced at the hands of the pirate. I guess that trauma changes you, as those kinds of things always seem to ironically and sadly to set one on the same path

Kennit surely Had Trauma and Burden to live with it and as much as he lived it would have dragged him down, so he Died like Hero and get Burial as family meber, but he Left behind Legacy, wife with son and kingdom, where his name was venerated. If he had lived he would die as most hated villain without legacy, hes son would be like him or just hate him, there would be no kingdom couse it would be destroyed by his ambition and enemys.
