In this song they manage to blend Swedish folk tradition in a beautiful way. I mean the really really old folk tradition. Which makes it very original. And I can hear that bluesy Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) fleut as well. This was their break through album that also contains the amazing song Emmylou ❤️❤️ I love Klara and Johanna and I’m so proud that our country can produce such talent.

Many Scandinavian artists have brilliantly distinctive and clear enunciation when singing in English (ABBA, Bjork, Aurora, Morten Harket of A-ha, Eivor, Sissel etc). Also, nothing beats sibling harmony.

That might be that we have mandatory english in school from early years. Atleast here in Sweden we have.

Wait, they’re Scandinavian?! Damn. That distinctive ‘caterwauling' like waviness in the singer's voice, plus the flawless southern twang.. Sounds straight outta the Mason-Dixie line to me!

This is the song that introduced me to First Aid Kit, through the PC game, "The Long Dark". I'd heard My Silver Lining on an advert and googled it out of curiosity, but didn't really think too much about it. Then I played the game, loved the intro music to it, googled it again, and then bought every one of their albums within the space of an hour or two. And finally got a chance to see them live last weekend (3rd December 2022).

You really should look into the live performances at the Polar Prize award. They sing to Patti Smith, Paul Simon and the greatest of the all; Emmylou Harris.

They are fantastic indeed :-) Emmylou will be recommended by many, and it's certainly good. But not a favorite for me mainly because it's a bit too much country/americana for my preference. But in general, their first album is ok/good, and their following/last three studio albums are all top notch. You already listened to a stripped down version of My Silver Lining, but I recommend listening to the studio (or full band live) version as it makes a significant difference. But there are many other songs to choose from as well. For example: Fireworks, Nothing has to be true (live from the Rebel Hearts club), Rebel heart, Stay gold, Cedar lane, A long time ago, In the hearts of men, To a poet.

girls who sing so pretty they make Emmylou Harris cry. They've also done beautiful things with Leonard Cohen tunes.

It's not just you. Klara's voice is amazing and her enunciation is crystal clear. I highly recommend every FAK song, but Stay Gold is a fave. I also think it's worthwhile listening to their Fleet Foxes cover from their mid-teens. It was their introduction to the wider world. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoGm06SllM_XqqQ.html

They did a cover of ABBA's Chiquitita which is a nice listen, definitely showing their Swedish influence.

beautiful track! with this sound another folky-blues artist comes to my mind, you might have never heard of her. her name is lay low and she is an icelandic blues musician. this song is called " in the dead of winter" from her album talking about the weather. we have a lot of weather here in iceland. we had a blizzard here yesterday, minus ten degrees celsius and this song gives the right mood. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnmHxJWCo9LKj7A.html my favourite album is "brostinn strengur", it's in icelandic and the lyrics are taken from poems. simple, acoustic and damn beautiful!
