@UCpFE5poM33cCYtguaF54O6g Zira's death is edited for the final feature. But the few extra seconds of her blatantly refusing Kiara's help, even saying: No.... NEVER.... She has a deranged look and starts to smile. Kiara looks in shock and Zira lets herself fall. As how it is now, it's a bit more vague and you could make the argument that she slipped. But she still smiles while she falls. Disney just didn't dare to imply she straight up commited suicide. I still see it as suicide and it does make her the one and only Disney character to do this.
I love the realism of Simbas overprotectiveness. She's not a good hunter because he never let her develop her skills propey in fear that she would get hurt

I’m kind of glad they cut it. Suicide is too much of a heavy subject to include in a kid’s film so it makes sense that Disney abandoned the scene. While yes, 2004’s Incredibles which came out six years after this film did have a Suicide attempt, it was foiled and kind of played off in a satirical dark humor sort of way when the guy later sues Mr. Incredible for saving him

When I was younger, originally I wasn’t fully on board with his character in this either. I thought he was too much on the stern and overprotective side. But over the years, he’s grown on me in this film. After the unimaginable trauma he suffered in the original I can understand why he would be so overprotective at first to Kiara. After recently rewatching the film I now further appreciate him being a flawed character and showing he’s not perfect.

@@RB01.10 I wasn't fully on board with Simba, but for me it was more so with Kiara. She disobeyed her father like Simba did with his, but the difference was Simba actually respected his father and felt remorse for his actions. Kiara never did and continuously disobeyed him.

@@kgunitkeese17 I don't feel like she continuously disobeyed him. Kiara seemed to be in a more difficult situation as well because Simba was way more overprotected than Mufasa was. Like Simba sending Timone and Pumba out there to watch her hunt for the second time was a little over the top.

I have to agree with all of you on this. Simba was overprotective in this movie. And he even sent Timon and Pumbaa to keep an eye on Kiara. It’s almost the duo’s her uncles. And yes, not everyone’s perfect. Some have an overprotective side. And some have a softer side
One of the few actually good straight to DVD sequels of a Disney movie. I love this movie
Kovu and Kiara would be related if he was Scar's son, so instead he was made more like Scar's successor in spirit (or at least that was the villains' plan.) I really love this movie. As someone who had hard time doing basic stuff because of overly protective parents, I relate to Kiara (she has trouble with hunting.) I also found her a Disney princess whose struggles with being a princess actually felt very _real_ to me (probably because we directly see her having that issue even as a small cub and in a way that still makes sense to a child.) And Simba being an overly protective dad makes sense due to his past. And Zira is very interesting. One of my favorite Disney villains. It's never outright confirmed she was mates with Scar. Personally, even as a kid, I always thought she was like an insane fangirl who was just Scar's follower and not an equal, but she imagined them as a couple and the father of her kids. The funny thing is that she idolized Scar so much, but in the end Scar was cowardly and not even that strong. Like Zira could definitely beat him up if she wanted to lol. Also, in the original script, Zira committed suicide by letting herself fall into the water rather than let Kiara help her. You can still see her smiling when she falls in the final version of the movie. Personally, I don't think that would be _too_ dark, since Zira is already shown to be such a twisted character. And Nuka was originally going to point out that he finally got his mother's attention when he was dying, but that was removed to not give kids the impression that they should get hurt to get their parents' attention.

Best movie ever. This had the cutest love story ever. Perfect animation, new characters, a new villain, a new love story, based on another William Shakespeare story, and the unforgettable songs. I keep getting the upendi song stuck in my head. But the concept of this movie was better than the original. It just would’ve been nice if we saw Kiara and Kovu have cubs. It would be the perfect ending to this movie. But this had a good message. My favorite line is, “Look at them. They are us. What difference do you see?”
@phoebusapollo8365

I wouldn’t say that. Scar was beating Simba’s ass like there was no tomorrow, a much younger, bigger, and stronger lion. If not for Nala teaching Simba the little flip trick, Scar would’ve ended Simba. Scar wasn’t Mufasa (then again who was) but he wasn’t a pushover when he was forced to fight, either.

"My Lullaby" actually gives "Be Prepared" a run for its money IMO. It's a good sequel in that it keeps the darker aspect of power grabbers and old grudges. It was hard for me to actually connect this with the first movie when I was a kid, in the regard that you didn't see any rogue lionesses with Scar, just the hyenas. “Tears of pain, tears of joy, one thing nothing can destroy, is our pride deep inside, we are one” that line sticks with me to the day and it really speaks to the theme of the film, We are all connected, we are all apart of the “circle of life” no matter what we look like, where we come from, and a long as we understand that we are not alone and we are all together, nothing and no one can destroy or take that away from you I really enjoyed tis sequel, it does;t have the same budget as the original film but that makes sense and yet they did a lot with it that makes it great. I really like we are one, it says a lot about parenting and togetherness and etc it also shows that unlike Simba Kiara is more interested in finding her own way and not being part of some great system, only to learn that we all apart of the system and thus you cannot just not be apart of it later on as an adult I love Zira, she feels exactly like Scar’s type of woman and of course his successor in terms of villain status so consumed with hate and revenge that she cannot literally let go of that hatred the same way Scar couldn’t, and it destroys her like it did him in the end. The whole bit with nuka wanting his mother’s respect and attention because he wasn't seen as the chosen one, despite being scar’s actual son, is great and i like that Vitanni is the one who realizes that this is futile and changes sides.
Although for some reason I never liked this movie in childhood but I really binged the songs. However I did feel for both Kovu and Simba individually. You can see how hard it is for Kovu to get out of abusive household and how hard it is for Simba to forget his past cause he’s literally scarred for life. One cool detail I like is that how Kiara can’t hunt well because of being a sheltered child and how she can still run faster that Kovu cause she came from a well off family while the lions/lioness on Kovu’s side barely gets anything to eat so he’s kinda they are malnutrition and totally relay on raw strength for attack.
I had this movie on VHS as a kid and watched it A LOT. It was the favorite movie of my childhood, I'm pretty sure. The songs and everything still heavily resonate with me to this day. And Kiara has always been, and still is, one of my favorite animated characters. I'm going to say that this here is the BEST Disney sequel ever made.
There's just something about this movie. I think it's because I grew up watching this one more than the original, but it's definitely a comfort film. I also love Neve Campbell as Kiara.

Lion King two Simba‘s pride is also one of my favorite linking movies growing up and I always thought of it being underrated, fun fact to know the voice of adult Kovu is the voice actor Jason Marsden, voice of goofy son Max and other great voices!!!!!
In fact, they hired James Earl Jones for two moments. Simba's nightmare scene, then the part at the end when he says from the clouds "Well done my Son."

There was originally gonna also be a moment during the banishing of Kovu where Mufasa’s spirit would also reprimand Simba for the decision saying that he broke the circle of life
"Pumbaa! Let me define BABYSITTING!!"
Me, after seeing the words ‘Simba’s Pride’: “Oh my God, not again with the Queercoding. Wasn’t Scar enough?”
The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is still one of the best Disney sequels ever made.
Fun fact Ziras death was originally Zira saying never, meaning that she will never surrender to simba then she lets go and falls into the water with a smirk. But it was considered to dark. And sorry if I spell something wrong I am from Sweden.

Speaking of fun facts, here’s a not so fun fact; I heard that during the ambush scene Zira and the Outsiders were gonna kill Simba but the creators decided to delete it cause it would’ve been a repeat of Mufasa’s death
The best Disney sequel in my opinion. I especially liked the soundtrack and some of the songs, in particular "He Lives In You".

That’s my favorite song from TLK 2. The others that have the same energy as the first film’s soundtrack imo are “My Lullaby” and “One of Us.”
i literally can't pick my favourite between this and the first. the first is more "iconic" but this movie is incredible and soooooooo underrated.
Dang, it's been sooooooo long since i watched this one, and i still remember it and i say it's pretty good not gonna lie
Love this movie, one of my favourites since childhood. And it has so many good quotes that we could all use in life. He lives in you is such a beautiful song, they even use it in the Lion King musical.
The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride is my number 1 favorite sequel film of all time! Also I love the fact that of all the straight-to-video Disney sequels, this one’s got the biggest cult following. PS, Zira is one of my favorite Disney villains

Agree. Not one of us and my lullaby gave me nightmares for a while
Good to know I wasn't the only one who was patiently waiting for Tim to react to this movie. But I'm still waiting for him to react to more barbie movies 🤨
I remembered when I was a kid I'll roar along all of them in 24:32 . Im gonna climb the table then roar like a fool, but in my head I feel awesome and feel like a lion 🤣. And repeatedly watching lion king 1 and 2 when I was a child and seeing scar and zira is what inspired me to always play a villain in a acting school projects or dreamed of playing if I was an actor 🤣🤣🤣
The one thing that no one talks about is how nuka barely lives after getting thrown of a cliff and then straight after gets his tail stepped on 💀💀💀
Like Mufasa before Simba he is also a great father to his daughter. And Simba is a very great ruler of the pride lands.
This one is soo good
Don't mind me, just average 22 years old still crushing on Kovu
*Lion King fans read title* Boys, get the pitchforks ready 🤣
My top 4 favorite songs in this whole movie are "We Are One", "My Lullaby", "One Of Us" and "Upendi". Also, the song "He Lives In You" was plucked right from the Broadway version of The Lion King.
Fun fact: its implied that while Zira is fanatically loyal to Scar they never had a physical relationship and none of her children were fathered by him. It's also been implied by comments from the animators that Kovu being "chosen by Scar" had more to do with the fact that he looked like Scar (and Zira's insanity) since age wise the timing doesn't work for Scar to have met him before dying.
21:59 - 22:08 because it is the deadly pumba weapon and it is my part favorite of the movie when Timón threatens them with the deadly weapon and that makes the lionnesses run for their lives 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
this will always be one of my favorite disney movies. I loved it so much when I was younger that I named my first cat Kovu when I was like 7 years old. I miss my bud everyday watching the movie is a trip down memory lane ♥
Simba has ptsd from the last movie so i can understand why he did not trust the outsiders
Not gonna but Lion King is my childhood and I just can't feel the magic in live action flim 😭.

Kovu’s brother was SO STUPID, i cracked up watching him form a fire circle around and light himself on fire
I can't believe it took literally years to notice the symbolism in Kovu being blamed for Nuka's death. "You killed your brother!". Fratricide. Just like Scar and Mufasa. Right after gaining his own scar, truly becoming like the lion who chose him to be his successor.

@@ThallVic yep, and he wasn't aware of the truth about Scar.
Kovu isn't Scar's son if he was then Kovu and Kiara would be brother and sisters. Kovu is the successor of scar. Scar always thought that Kovu would defeat Simba and take place as king but he never did that lol
While I prefer the original movie, Not One Of Us is my favorite song from this entire franchise (and that’s including the Lion Guard series) and possibly from all of Disney
Creepy fact : During production of the first Lion King there was a disturbing scene between Scar and Nala and they had to cut it out because the directors thought it was NOT kid friendly and it was in't. There is the Story board version and an Animated version and The Broadway Lion King decided to put it in too........ And there is other really weird things like Vitani from The Lion King 2 some people believe that she is Scar and Nala's child because of the appearance of her. Now if you ever get to Disney's Peter Pan, the sequel "Return to Neverland" is so good
I am aware that some people think that Kiara was kind of out of line when she brought up her grandfather towards her father during their infamous argument, but she's right though. Knowing Mufasa's character, he would not had jumped to conclusions about Kovu unlike Simba. He knew that Kovu wasn't like the others and why he worked so hard to get Kovu and Kiara to get together and bring both tribes of lions back together. The plan did work out in the end after all, which again, shows the wisdom of Mufasa. Although in Simba's defense, its not hard to see why he didn't trust Kovu at all at first. Simba was trying very hard not to let his family go through the same thing he went through and its implying that he was trying to forgive his uncle. Of course, look it from Kovu's point of view too. He didn't ask to be Scar's... "chosen one." He was forced into his mother's ambitions for the throne and did what she told him. Glad that his sister and the rest of the Outlanders was able to see the truth before it was too late. Ironic part is that Kovu does end up fulfilling Scar's wish. After Simba, Kovu will become king.
This is the only disney sequel I like more than the original!! I'm a huge fan of all the movies tho, but the characterizations of everyone in tlk2 is just top notch!! Also, the music!!!! 💯 I know it's probably divisive, but I even really like The Lion King 1 1/2 and the live action movie!

@@PsalmistScribe I don’t think the average viewer would assume Simba and Nala were related by any means unless they had a great knowledge about lions. And even then you don’t really get any hint of them being siblings at all. But for Kovu, especially due to how he looks so much like Scar the viewer could easily assume he was his son if not for Kovu’s line “he wasn’t my father but he was still a part of me.”

Definitely my second favorite movie. Always will be. Right behind The Lion King.
Zira is such a hypocrite. She ridicules Kovu by saying that he killed his brother when Scar did the exact same thing and yet she blindly worships him. That really shows you how twisted her personality is. Also I believe Kovu was originally going to be Scar's son but the idea was later scrapped because that would have made Kovu and Kiara cousins, so he was made as Scar's adopted heir instead. The striking resemblance between Kovu and Scar was never really addressed, even though it's totally noticeable.

Simbas pride is my childhood. Loved it. I'm 28 still watching. Nuka: "I could be a leader if she just gives me a chance. " like damn.lol
The Lion Guard series takes place between the time gap in this film. And the final season takes place parallel with the movie’s second act. And the final 2 episodes are an epilogue to the movie.
There was one very HEAVY quote Mufasa was going to tell his son after he banished Kovu, Mufasa: "You have let your family _break apart._ And in doing so, you have *BROKEN* the Circle of Life." I truly believe Mufasa is right about that. But whatever reason, the creators decided not to put it in. Why, creators? Why???
