The Dark Angels weren't just used to slaughter the Thunder Warriors, they did quite a lot of work that wasn't made public during the Great Crusade. I'm pretty sure they were supposed to be the Inquisition before the Inquisition was on the drawing board. Sort of a secret police type thing. I think a big part of the Lion's "loyalty is it's own reward, it doesn't matter who knows" statement is because only the Emperor knew 90% of the missions he went on in the background while Horus was off kicking ass with everyone watching.

I think too that Primarchs 1 & 11 are reserved for future ideas. to be fair, the Night Lords' idea of an ambush is a sucker punch and their idea of stealth is waiting until their enemy tries to walk away before shanking them.

though the next video will be the place to put this as he's more morden but Azrael is one of my favorite space marine characters and has one the best lines from a space marine to put in context a mechanicus adept knows chaos marines are coming for her, and she's been in contact with Azrael thinks he's abandoned her, eventually she runs into a marine says she's not afraid and the chapter master of the dark angels, says " Really? Even in my wounded state, I thought I cut quite the imposing figure", think that gives him far more personality than brooding dark angel or humorless space marine, with their self importance view so skewed they probably expect dying people to wipe their own blood of his armour

I agree but for the dark angles as a whole. in the books despite still being fanatic battle monks who only think about how best to do their duty the dark angles still occasionally have a sense of humour be it sneaking into the chapter masters personal armoury or shooting their own librarians when they turn to chaos. and because of their honour beliefs they are able to show the human emotion of shame while other chapters wouldn't understand the concept

"To be honest if one Primarch's origin story was to be put in a movie or animated format, the Lion and his techno-knights fighting mutated monsters would probably be at the top of my list" I completely agree, after reading "Descent of Angels" my mind was totally captured by the shadow-haunted woodlands of Caliban. It's such a fantastic setting.

Confirming it now: Lion El'Johnson was the one to slay a Warp Rabbit without needing a Holy Hand Grenade back in his youth.

If only the emperor looked towards the galactic west rather than the east he would have found the lion first and had more time to work on his social skills and become a loyal warmaster. Caliban was a far distance away from Terra while Cythonia (Horus’s planet) was so damn close warp travel wasn’t necessary its as if chaos maneuvered events in a way to keep El Johnson as far away from the emperor as long possible . one thing I love about the lion is the natural fear and unease he placed in both his brothers and in chaos which makes sense as fundamentally El Johnson is the older brother who ain’t adored of their big bro.

The Dark Angels are so paranoid that they need to repent.

Out of the probably 4 most played legion, dark angels are my favorite, mostly because of their wide use of plasma, combined with the knight/templar theme and colour combination of the dark green with the beige robes/coats.

The Iron Warriors talk and complain a lot about being sent into the meat grinder for nasty compliance jobs, but you never hear about the Dark Angels complain about being used in the Rangdan Xenocides. Three separate campaigns that were so terrible it culled the 1st Legion's numbers from being the most numerous legion to being behind the Ultramarines.

Personally that's how I feel about the Blood Ravens being thieves meme. They're one of the most badass chapters in the Imperium in my opinion, aside from the heresy that's DoW 3.

My cousin and I were talking one day and he said "you look like a Dark Angel." To which in a fit of paranoia I thought instinctively "Do I look like a traitor!?" I too love knights and the Dark Angels. This was just some odd natural reaction.

Dark angels are my main army i have 6 Tac squads 3 land raiders 3 devastator squads 3 predators 3 whirlwinds 3 bike squads 3 dreadnaughts 12 land speeders 2 HQ squads all squads are full strength also i have multiple Commanders including Azrael, Asmodai and Ezekiel, but my Fav,s are my 5 full strength Deathwing squads (i may be slightly obsessed) i,d love a Titan/Thunderhawk to finish of my Battle group but that might be a bit excessive

I like the angels of absolution because they have common sense and know their "sins" are forgiven and operate like a normal space marine chapter but with all the badass dark angel units

I learned more Warhammer 40k lore listening to an Australian than actually bothering to read all the novels. Nice. Also someone should make a compilation of your Timmy threats because they are golden.

Fact - luther wanted to leave the nuke on the ship but doubled back because he felt a little bit bad then came to see zalaphire( powerful astartes librarian ) discovering the bomb and zalaphirr was the one that ejected it from the ship while luther did nothing 😂

And the thing is if they didn't put themselves on an unrealistic upload schedule their vids would be so much better because they could put more thought into them.

As a Dark Angels player, them being my favorite Chapter and Faction I have to say this video gets a 10/10. Also...yes the meme is pretty funny. Fucking don't spam it though, its best enjoyed at the right moments. Anyway great video Majorkill! You'll keep getting my $1 from Patreon lol.

I have literally listened to every lore video on Warhammer and Warhammer 40K. I think that you have the best channel by far just because of your comedic influence and everything you do. Also I am really sorry that you have to deal with Timmy all the time.

I usually watch a video from OMS first as it's a summary then Italiansparticus as his videos are more detailed then Lutin and then finally yours for the humour

It's been done before but we need a primarch tier list infused with that chad thundercock Majorkill energy.

I always though the Rangdans messed up the 11th Legion / Primarch and resulted in the "Purged" as they had to be destroyed after what the Rangdans did to them.

Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and White Scars are my favorite Horus Heresy loyalists legions. Blood Angels, White Scars, and Black Templar's followed by the Minotaurs.

I enjoyed this MK, well done. The Rangdan Xenocides would likely make for an excellent book series, I hope we see it sometime (although there seems to be a will to keep some of it redacted). Anyway, I'm looking forward to part 2.

Let's be real, OMS is the ginger stepchild of the Warhammer lore community.

My takeaway from this is still that Lion thinks that Lion's fee-fees > everyone and honour switches off and on according to whim. I liked the knights thing though.

It's not quite the case, it's that under the Lion's honorable knightly exterior he's an absolutely savage killing machine capable of extreme ruthlessness if he thinks it's necessary. But unlike some of his traitor brother's he's totally aware of and in control of that side of himself.

FYI the dark angels of the 40k lead by Azreal created a warp rift in the caliban system due to a three way war there by accident which showed up during the final moments of the fight between the lion and luther which caused the fallen to be scattered... talk about self fulfilled prophecy. I like to think that the duel between Luther and Lion is something like duel between Drakula and Alucard from Netflix Castlevania mixed with Star Wars lightsaber moves, and Game of Thrones costumes. Can you imagine epic sword fight, that ends with Luther going full Papa Palpatine, going to execute sleeping Lion, just to drop his sword and says something like. "I am killing my boy." Really hope the next Lion book will show something like that. It would be epic.

Not gonna lie, you are the only one I have ever heard do that particular Word Bearer-joke. Traitor or not, the Dark Angels are totally one of the coolest loyalists.
