Some people think that only the light of reason, or only science, can be trusted in the search for truth. Some have claimed that religion, or even faith itself, involves a kind of darkening of the mind. Is that true? Is faith a cause of darkness, or of light? How can we address the light of reason vs. the light of faith? In this video, Fr. Dominic Legge, O.P. explains the difference between the light of faith and the light of reason.

The section of Thomas articulation of Faith not destroying reason but elevating it to a new mode (or order) makes me sigh with gratitude. As a former Protestant, I never saw Faith in that way. Thomas has truly be influential in reshaping the way I think. I hope to one day hug this Saint and thank God for all the wisdom and knowledge he has diffused to us through this man who is a member of the God Man Christ Jesus.

How are things going in Chile? I have heard that there is a quick dechristianization in the country, and I am quite afraid because of the loss of intellectualism in one country with such a tradition of Christian thinking.

1:19 I'm confused Father. I thought the Image of God was unique to human beings, but how could it be unique to us if angels and demons also have reason? Perhaps our reason is unique among bodied creatures, but are we really unique in the larger cosmology? Do angels and demons also have the Image of God in this respect? I'm confused

In the prologue to the Prima Secundae (first part of the second part) of the Summa Theologiae, Thomas quotes St. John Damascene about man's being made to the image of God: "Damascene states (De Fide Orth. ii, 12), man is said to be made in God's image, in so far as the image implies "an intelligent being endowed with free-will and self-movement." It's intellect and will that constitute the imago Dei. Angels are also made to the image of God. See Summa Theologiae I, question 93, article 3.

@@janetrocha3584 The proof you mentioned repeated over time and you are right according to this proof the earth is at rest. But that proof didn't say the earth is flat. Two different things--being at rest and being flat are not to mean the same. I'm very much convienced, one call it naive, by the work of Dr. Robert Sungenis. His work on Geocentrism is impecable.
