The Gundam RX-78F00 was created as a moving exhibit. It was supposed to be on exhibition and a tourist attraction in Yokohama for one year, then moved to a different location, but COVID-19 happened and it got extended. It was to be closed last year but they extended it to this year. There may be another opportunity to see this in the future as it was created as a moving exhibit but there is no infornation at the moment for its next home. Hoping the location for its new home is identifid while I'm still here in Japan.

Japan : we have finished the prototype ,and now lets create the real things and prepare for ww3...

@@thememan1387 most likely not, since land in japan is at a premium especially near the city and thats the only place that makes economic sense for it to be in. The only way it gets rebuilt is if they hash out a deal with a wealthy landowner or company, wait 5 to 10 years to finish all the paperworks and required meetings and then maybe it'll be back

Tokyo itself is the biggest metro area in japan, meaning it gets a lot of visitors and thus cash--other cities like osaka and kyoto would have less visitors and more conservative governments bogging down the process. It's like saying a skyscraper in the middle of rural nowhere canada is going to have the same amount of people living in it as in montreal or quebec

He intentionally did not elaborate to get more views. "GONE FOREVER" in the title which is definitely a LIE. They will just move this to a different place. Lease ended in Yokohama. Remember this is the same Gundam from Odaiba they got it upgraded to make it move. Hope it gets another upgrade on its next reveal.

I don't think you would have to hollow it out. Maybe rework it a little but I don't see why besides reinforcement of the frame or replacing existing parts why you couldn't make it walk like a real gundam

The original closing date was Mar 31, 2022 but was extended twice so more tourists could come to see it following the pandemic. I managed to visit in Sep 2023 and it was glorious.

It may be closed to the public, but you can still see the videos, with such memories intact.

I'm convinced that it'll be back better than ever someday, no restrictions, able to hold a beam saber or a beam rifle with it's shield.

Isent it just getting rebuilt since its had so many issues and getting a re-shell and moved? I could of swore that was the initial announcement before people being doomers for views got the info.

I was planning to see this in person one day and now I never will, there goes another dream of mine. Being poor sucks, at least I know it's real and possible, won't leave long enough to see where this goes in the future.

Its the last time for now... for they have moved it to become an actual functional mech.

You gotta remember. The 60s was So Long ago that the realism of an actual Giant Robot existing just did not seem real. And now this exists! It’s almost impossible to believe.

Glad I was there last year at July It's hot seeing up close to the RX - 78 But if you want some shade and a good breeze, go upstairs and watch in front of the cafe it's a good sight. Also don't pay for close up look on gundam because it's kinda pointless if you can't view it in full.

Saw just just as i got back from a trip to Japan. Was annoyed i didnt know about it. Until he said it closed in March. Rip wouldnt have made it anways, but i did get to see the giant unicorn gundam statue
