From Canada I spent over 30 great years in the Line Trade , and now retired . Every time the weather gets bad , my thoughts and prayers go out to those who get that middle of the night call . Stay safe Brothers !

Being a Journeyman Lineman is very rewarding but it's not for everyone. A lot of sacrifices for you and your family that comes with this job. Storms come thru and it's 16 hour days, 8 hours off and you're right back at it again. This can go on for weeks or even months. Raining so hard that it rains sideways, snow almost up to your hips, so hot that your clothes are soaked but.... you don't think about yourself, you think about the customers that need there lights turned back on. On call and you get home at 1am in the bed, just starting to fall asleep and your pager goes off for you to come back in. School meetings and events missed, family and friend outings missed, church on sundays missed, and everything you have to sacrifice, your family is also sacrificing. All to keep the lights on. This is why Journeyman Linemen are so close. Family, no matter where you are from we are all brothers and sisters. To all of my brothers and sisters out there, be safe and god bless you and your families.👊

@@justdie0k Hourly, I would never work for salary. No way, no how I would ever work for a salary. The company would abuse it and I'd be working non stop on storm duty without being compensated for it. Nope!

I have great respect for the linemen who keep the lights on for us. Thank you.

I absolutely love watching these videos of these hard-working, Blue-collar, Well paid, LINE-MEN!!!! HIP HIP, HOORAY!!! HIP HIP, HOORAY!!!! 😄 I never worked in the lineman-trade. I worked in, Mid to Upper-management in our Domestic & International Oil&Gas Industry. Holding positions as the, on site, HSE (safety manager.) and then the HSE VP, AT-LARGE. I covered Wyoming, eastern, Montana / western, North Dakota. Which is the, Bakken Oil-Field. And, Over in NE Utah. Of our office in Vernal Utah. I also worked Offshore in the Gulf of Mexico / The North Sea / The Indian Ocean. Today I am retired, And back living in, the very very, NW part of Montana. 5 miles from the Canadian Border. Up here inside the, Yaak Valley. Yaak Montana. And KZread has several videos of the hard-working man and women that work in both of these industries. Thank you 🙏 dear Lord!!!

I’m 31 have 6 kids. I work 2 jobs roughly 70-90 hrs a week. I hopefully will be starting school in may. God willing I will be a brother to.Thank y’all for you sacrifice and service! God bless.

Lineman for 12 years loved it. Now on the Engineering side of it, appreciate my job as a Engineer but I do miss being out there.

I spent 45 years as a lineman. Recently retired. I miss the work, coworkers, storms, and unknown excitement that came with each day. I'd do it all over again if I could.

For all of those that don’t know where Moon Lake Electric Co is, It’s in Roosevelt, Utah. My company in the Oil&Gas Industry, have an office in Vernal, Utah. Very close to Roosevelt. I’ve been there many times.

Lives are on the line when the power goes out. I'm not a lineman, just a very grateful citizen. My father was a police officer for over 30 years in Houston Texas and as a young child, I'd worry and sometimes cry when he was late coming home or having to work outside during the hurricanes. Thank you and your families for the sacrifice. I know the pay is good but it takes a very special person to do your job and an even more special person to WANT to do your job. Stay safe.

I've been a Journeyman going on 20 years, been in the field 24 years, I've been called out to work on about 15 Christmas Eve nights, my wife and kids understand what this job is. Coming home safe to them is the most important.

@@William14094 on my W2's in 2004 I filed taxes on $205k. That was the best year I ever had. It depends on location and the company. I make close to 100k a year now. But I'm back home working and don't care for the overtime like I used to.

I have never thought of it as Dangerous as we are trained and equipped to do the work that we are expected to perform. You need to respect the job for what it is and the people that came before you. You will have to miss things in your personal life, as the job demands hard work, long hours, great days, bad days, and respect to yourself and the people you are privledged to work beside. But, at the end of the day-We Love IT, and that's why we do it!

A linemans skill, is cultured with the grain of experience...but first, forged in the crucible of training.

I hope to join the ranks of these warriors 1 day, attending NLC. Truly inspirational 🙏🏼

being a supervisor i know the struggle to keep and provide power to the people. it may seem like an easy job but it is not. every season gives a new challenge whether it it the rain the heat the wind or the cold.

My dad worked for the coop for 41 years lineman, system ops, staking tech and metering and I was a lineman in till I was hurt. I remember my teacher telling me I would never amount to anything well I saw him a couple of years after being a lineman and he said I see you got that crappy job with your name on your shirt my buddy looked at him and said to bad for you he make more that’s double what you do. Best job on the planet.

I'm desperately trying to get into this trade after working with Lineman for the last couple of years. So if anybody out there sees this message I would love a job! Totally willing to travel and totally willing to relocate!

My father worked @ dairyland power back in 60s went all over state of Wisconsin building lines i was just a kid @ the time he passed away while being on the job I bluffs near lacrosse worked with a good

Dad was a lineman for 42 years with Saskatchewan Power Corporation. When he retired he was construction supervisor for transmission and distribution and before that he was a charge district operator for 25 years. He started at age 18 pushing a broom at Cutbank Sask. Show's that hard work and dedication is all it takes. He's my hero.

Something to consider. A wife, if she alone decides to, can demand a divorce.....and take half of this type of man's stuff that he risked his life for while she sleeps peacefully; and he has to pay her alimony; and he gets to see his kids a couple times per month.

You gotta be a lineman for 4 years and finish your books to be called a journeyman lineman. And normally you gotta go to college to get a good internship. I don’t think you can job shadow a line worker either because it’s dangerous.

Get you class A CDL then the summer when you finish high school go find a job as a grunt somewhere. After a few months you'll know if this is for you or not, and you won't have spent a bunch of money going to college to find out you want to do something else.

Get your CDL with air brakes endorsement, or get hired by a trucking company which can offer to pay for your trucking school, save some money and when you have enough you could go to lineman school do your research some are cheaper than others not all are 20K or you can try a community school some might offer powerline classes

I disagree with lineman school. The way things worked for decades upon decades was, a newby stays with the same journeyman for five years or so and his style of work is the spitting image of the journeyman he learned from. Those schools are about the money. Also, those schools make it seem like a guy can go to school and learn linework in four months. Unfortunately I got out of linework before I made it into powerline work. I got into hvac. It sucks. Bad. Went from buckets and climbing to crawling under houses. But even in hvac, I learned from one good metalworker for five years. Then I work d for a company where a guy apparently went to school and did service work and thought he could do installs. The outside come? Generic cheap shitty systems. All trades have been spoiled by schools, the tradition of a journeyman teaching a new guy is gone. I hate that part of trades. Then the schoolboys think they know it all.

You know, bottom line, linemen do it for the money. Take away that thirty to fifty dollars an hour and none of these guys will do the trade. These people talking about the sacrifices , naw. The guys doing it do it for the money. Then there are some guys like me, when the light fixture has to be changed, I'ma try and do it hot. Why ? It's fun. I could get shocked if I fuck up. That's fun
