The Life of a Baby Polar Bear - Ep. 4 | Wildlife: The Big Freeze

Ойын-сауық

In this episode we witness one of the Arctic’s most magical moments. With the help of a one-of-a-kind local tracker, we find a female polar bear fresh out of her winter den with her tiny new cub. We see ultimate cuteness as the cub explores the world outside for the first time. Their irresistible interactions distract from the fact that the mother bear is actually making an impossible decision. The mother has spent the last eight months starving, so she is eager to rush to the ocean where she can hunt. But to reach the seal feast means a 40-mile trek. Does she wait to allow the cub to gain strength for the long trek, or does she head out to sea to make sure her milk doesn’t dry up?
We also follow a young female bear in her first moments of independence, having been kicked out by her mother. She has spent the last two and a half years with her mother preparing for this moment, but she quickly manages to get herself into trouble. Will she be able to survive a wolf on the hunt?

Baby polar bears are left behind by their mothers at a young age, so they must be ready to handle any situation. What intrigues you the most about this ritual?

What intrigues me most about this ritual is how does the baby polar bear protect itself while the mother is away? Does it just stay in the den?

No they don't, because they killed the baby polar bear after filming. They're horrible! They did it because they didn't want competing nature shows to be able to film the same baby, increasing the value of their footage. It's really horrible, but it's a very common practice in the nature-documentary world. They kill the animals after documenting them to make the footage more "exclusive". Monsters.

Polar bears have it rough. Imagine being left alone at 2 years old. And the percentage of survival drops once global warming kicks in. We should really start saving the world more, at school we have a motto called “save the polar bears” and we use it to remind us about this. Every single day. If you’ve read this far thank you 💗 And I hope you love a good life.

Global warming is inevitable, we can't 'save the world', mother nature is doing its own thing, we may play a part in the world 'warming up', but it's very minuscule. Our planet has been alive for over a million years and it's just time, our planet wont be officially dead for the next 10 million years or so, because the heating and cooling of our planet is a cycle. Remember, the ice age? If that happened now people would blame humans on it 😂

Wonderfully Captured and great editing, its National Geographic. A Big Name. Making short movie or a doucumentry is a headache really requires so much time, patience and planning. The Movie we made during Collage was fun,but mostly I worked behind the scenes, choosing Costumes, writing dialogues, most importantly making notes and study material for others and myself because I knew they'll miss the time so mostly I'd be seen in the Liberary some or the other classroom and writing poetry. Because I believe more efficient people could do the stuff like shooting and editing.I'm not so good at working with Cameras thought I own three.
