I say it was John Waynes best Western and should had won a Oscar for the role and Bond as supporting actor. I always thought Bond died making the film , Rio Bravo since the role was like a cameo but now I got the skinny on the facts , thanks.

@@speedracer1945 Totally agree ! The Searchers was (truly) a GREAT Western, & no two male actors could have done it better than Wayne & Bond---in ANY time period of movie making ! If any young fella wants a 'role model' for The Quintessential American Man---he needn`t look further than John Wayne & Ward Bond. "Sure as the turnin of the earth"....

Even though “The Big Trail” is about a wagon train I think the blueprint for the series Wagon Train was actually John Ford’s 1950 film “Wagon Master.” It’s a film where Ford didn’t have Wayne or Fonda as the star but rather his usual supporting actors were cast in the lead roles. Ben Johnson, Harry Carey Jr, and Bond were the stars. Even though Bond didn’t play the title role his character displays the same temperament that Major Adams did in Wagon Train. Heck, Wagon Master even had Frank McGrath (Charlie Wooster) in a small role.

He tried in vain to ruin their careers, though he succeeded in ruining others. He gave Anthony Quinn his famous toilet routine, the same as he did to others. Luckily for Quinn, Bond gave him a "pass". Look it up.
