I think productivity is rewarding to the point where you are doing everything you have to do effectively, so that you are not wasting much time with procrastination. In my experience, time you spent procrastinating feels even more stressful than actually doing the work without accomplishing anything, and it takes time away from actually enjoying yourself and the moment

The way we live is a reflection of how our economics works. Each day, more has to be produced, faster and more efficient. But we are no machines, neither does our luck depend on just productivity.
People hate it when other people are happy and not trying so hard. The call it failure and encourage you to think about your future. Whenever I find peace doing so little, someone always interrupts my peace by saying, "Why don't you try to find a better job," or "You should start thinking about your future" and whenever I tell them I feel great, I don't need to think too much about it somehow they feel offended.

We can only start to think this way because we are becoming a society of abundance. It wasn't always like this. Hunger and deprivation, scarcity and insecurity, etc... were the rule up until even one or two generations ago. Everyone needed to work very hard just to survive. But work has become a little like food: we as a species evolved to overeat and gorge on food whenever we could find it, because you never knew where your next meal would come from. And this was an approach that helped us survive. But in this recently evolving society of abundance, it is leading to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc... We have to consciously and deliberately learn not to overdo it before it makes us sick. Work is the same.

Human life doesn't have any purpose, a purpose and motive are things reserved for tools, don't look for purpose, you're a human not a tool designed to do something speific for the rest of your life
This made me chuckle a lot because I can definitely see my cats thinking like this.
This is shocking that most people need this explained! It's obvious from psychological point of view, yet most people still pursue the fast lifestyle!
Gonna start every day with this vid from now on, no music in the shower, we’re listening to this
"I never thought I was doing anyone a favour by bringing children into the world. With people as cruel to each other as they are, it’s a terrible proposition. The best of lives are sad and tragic. The best of them. My general conclusion is that it’s not a nice thing to do. The world doesn’t need it. The kid doesn’t need it." -- Woody Allen
You probably won't ever read this, but if you happen upon it by chance, please know that this is amongst the most salient work my tiny brain has ever encountered. Thank you, as always.

A couple of weeks back me and my partner were sat on the couch, on our phones, both in very trance like states, and I snapped out of it for a minute and noticed my kitten sat there just kind of staring at nothing, a whole wave of guilt washed over me as i all of a sudden thought about life from her side, looking at her humans who are shut off from the outside world. We humans can get lost in our little phone world, so if your reading this, put your phone down for a bit and go show your beautiful pets some love and attention ❤

How funny. When I was a child, I always wanted to be a cat.
We are all alone.
Leisure by William Henry Davies Next What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. This poem is in the public domain.
❤❤❤
I’ve never heard words speak to me more than what you just said. I could never have said it so simply and eloquently, but this is exactly me. Cheers to all my fellow cats out there!
It starts with controlling attention (which is what meditation is - a bunch of techniques for controlling attention). Once you have even a little attention you become aware. And one of the fist things you notice is we all spend so much time thinking about the past or planning the furture. We miss where the real experence of life is and that is.... the present moment. Be like the cat or dog. Live in the now.
“Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. Look, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore, and breasts that never nursed." ― Bible
