​@@joshuakelly9390in the backs of older cars, especially mini vans, they would have small tvs installed with a media hub in the back seats of cars. They would have DVD players in them, but sometimes you could connect other devices. If you had a power converter, you could do things like connect your PlayStation to play games on the go. This was before things like the DS or the PSP came about that really launched the pocket gaming era.

My parents had a SUV like that at one time, it was factory installed too, only issue was you couldn't use the video function while the car was driving, my dad found out if you run a jumper wire to the parking brake it bypasses the security feature. My sister and I played games all the time even on short trips to the grocery store.

Fun fact: On an unmodified console, the black PS logo screen is only displayed when the CD-ROM reads the copy protection embedded within the wobble groove of the disc and passes the check.

That's actually quite interesting. My PS1's laser has definitely seen better days. So if the loading stops at this PS logo screen, is my PS1 unable to read the copy protection?

@Fotznerwin27 Do you mean it stops at the white logo screen? If so, then yes, it won't read the copy protection, which if passed, the black logo screen is produced. If it stops at the black logo screen, then it's passed the copy protection check, and you probably have a bad laser or other mechanical failure.

this was my first ever PlayStation though back in the 90s it was called PSX as its code name and it stuck until the white PSOne came around, I guess a lot of people didn't know that gaming history, though in Australia it was still called the PSX no matter what was said until the white PSOne came around. I remember mine one being modded, well guess I need find a PS2 PAHT Edition to slap a 2TB SSD into it to run all my PSOne games and my PS2 Games

There was also a ps2 from Japan i believe that was also called the psx and it had a very similar user face to the ps3

@@Arsenalplayz825nah, the psx is a DVR that Sony produced that has the ability to burn discs and to play video games. It’s a bite white box with controller ports kn the back that’s made to play ps2 and ps1 games second, play dvd movies first. It had the XMB like the PSP and later PS3 but it was obviously more primitive

@@TheOnlyPedroGameplays that was released much later (Dec 2003 - only in Japan) but yes you're right about a larger white boxed ps2 with DVR capabilities. What everyone here is talking about though is the original playstation was codenamed Playstation X (psx) and that name just stuck around until they remodeled the ps1 to a smaller unit with curved corners called Playstation One (psOne). Most people know the OG ps1 as psx :)

PlayStation One is a man's best friend if you had no other ones! This startup sound and the video intro are like something none of us mortal men could describe!😮😮😮😮😮😮

I remember ps1 days. Family didn't have any games since we couldn't actually afford them (cousin gave us ps1). We only had disc's with demos of games and we'd play them over and over. Good times.
