I always begged my parents to get me a playstation .Being a child I could never understand that their earnings were insufficient to afford the expensive console.I used study hard and always top my class and thinking they would give it to me as a reward.Finally in 2004 my dad bought me a ps one but it was sold open without a box as it was never officially launched in our country so i missed the pleasure of unboxing it. You fulfilled my wish.Thank you so much.

@@xjf8h83qe0oc9 It was impressive. Take Silent Hill 1 as an example, devs had the idea to cover the town on fog, since only the area surrounding the player was needed to be rendered. That was because of harware limitations. Another technique as a mean to counter those limits, almost all PS1 games would subdivide every surface to keep textures from warping and limit the waste of polygons used. The base Ps4 can run those games despite being almost 6 years old is because of dynamic res, lighting, scaled down textures, draw distance reduced, anti aliasing, blur, etc. Not because the console is good, it had bad specs even for 2014 PC standards.

I remember back in the day where we are all playing a PS 1, even I dont have one I have the memory card to play in my friends houses, trade or borrowing each others memory card

This and Gameboy, my first childhood consoles right here. And to this day I say the games off the playstation one/2 are still some of the most playable addiction games. The graphics might of being bad but the gameplay was always so fun that didn't matter. I would take older games anyday over new games. So glad I still have my PS2 Slim so I can play these classics

That startup sound is so classic. I first got the Playstation in '99. I was in fifth grade. My first games were Brave Fencer Musashi and NFL GameDay 99. Sony should bring back that startup for the PS5.

Maybe you could check if there’s any retro game stores near you. If so, you could check if they have a ps1, and if not, or there’s no retro game store nearby, check on eBay or some other website.

Man this video floods me with good old memories of my childhood, I never have to worry about bills back then, its all just gaming from saturday and sunday. at weekdays, I can play from 4 AM to 7 AM, only possible because of my mom, my father is strict and always hide the power adapter, but my mom knows exactly where he hides it, and when he goes to work I can play for 3 hours straight, before going to school!

I was just chilling watching this vid when the ps screen started followed by the sound. I was not prepared, that hit me like a truck. So nostalgic. My favourite ps game was Castlevania SotN.

I got that same version at 5:30 on Christmas 2002. My family was poor when I was young, and getting that thing was such a huge luxury back then. I think it was like $50 back then, which is $70 in today's money. My older cousin even gave me a ton of his old games back then. I played that thing everyday for years.

Even though I have a working PS2 to play my PS1 and PS2 games, I still yearn to get a hold of an OG PlayStation or a PS1 for I do miss that boot-up sequence. That's Pure Nostalgia.

The end of an Era, Stadia and Nintendo brought up a Trend that Wants to Utilize Digital more than Physical. Cloud Servers are in Waiting on Boring Load Screens and Downloads are a thing of The past. We live in an era where Consumers can get Half of a Full Game and pay for the rest later or Choose to wait til the End of Shelf Lifespan for a Product and Purchase it lower end and Second Hand.

PsOne my first true love, i remember when i got one on Christmas of 2001 (i know ps2 was already came out, but in LatinAmerica back then , ps2 was no too famous until 2004), i was 6 years old, and my aunt gave me a PsOne with F1 2001, i was in love playing as JP Montoya in monza, hahaha trying to reply the real life, then i play the first game with the wonderful analog system, Ape Escape, oh man, that was another level, cool memories! I remember when I did get PS1 from Christmas present and I did cry because I was so happy! I got Tekken 3 with that! We did play that with my brother.

That's why almost all games had cheat codes that let you beat the entire game and access all the content. Then we got hard drives, and cheat codes slowly started to exit the door, and then cloud saves came along and publishers went "let's charge money for cheat codes" and now we got microtransactions.

Perfect Nostalgia..Im gonna cry

Of all of the consoles that I've owned and collected over the years, this is one that I don't currently have anymore. I can't really remember what happened to it. I remember transporting it in a VERY small nylon cooler bag to my friends houses, etc. I could fit the whole system in there with 2 controllers, 3 or 4 games, memory cards, power supply...everything!! I still have the bag though. LOL!!!

Watching this today on its twenty-seventh anniversary . This is actually the model as my first ever gaming machine that I have playing.

I got my PS one in 2000. So much to remember.

The OG PS1 was my very first console and some of my favorite games there were Tetris Plus, Resident Evil Director's Cut (DualShock ver.), Crash Bandicoot Warped, Tekken 2, Dino Crisis 1, and Crash Team Racing.

I just literally cleaned and restored my PS One! I even played Metal Gear Solid on it!

I almost forgot the experience unboxing this console (mine was the og ps). I love the box, i love the blue plastic of the controller. I remember holding the dualshock controller and the console for the first time, it feels heavy. Played so many games on this console with my older brother. Gt, gt2, twisted metal (4 is my favorite and sweet tooth gave the creeps i was 7 - 9) motocross games, tony hawk games, resi evil games, silent hills games, motojet games (?), Tomb raider and many more great games. And the funny thing is, my mom bought this thing in 2007. Ps3 already came out. We are not poor or anything, it's just that my mother didn't know anything at all. But still great console to have!

This honestly brings me back to my childhood. And seeing Crash Bandicoot and Medal of Honour hit even harder.

Ah, those sweet childhood memories! How many hours have I spent on Ace Combat 2 and Physic Force 2!

Yes I used a memory card like that . Very good. Nfl blitz 1997-2000 was my game

I never had a Playstation for myself but if I did along with the lcd screen, I could just imagine all those hours that I'd spend playing all the great rpgs cozy in my room at summer nights.

I had that console, which nostalgia, I spent hours playing Dino Crisis 2... My first PS One console... I had to work hard I remember

My favorite games: Crash Bandicoot 1,2,3, Crash team racing, Crash bash, Spyro The dragon, Spyro Ridtos rage, Spyro year of the dragon.
