The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD | REVIEW (Nintendo Switch)

Ойындар

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was once among my least favorite Zelda games. I remember playing it on the Nintendo Wii and I was not a fan. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword felt clunky, repetitive, and the worst part of it all, motion controls. Ew! But Skyward Sword managed to address some of the issues, now released in HD glory on the Nintendo Switch.
" Solve puzzles, explore dungeons, and soar the skies
Descend from the sky to the dangerous world below in this high-flying quest. Your adventure will lead you through perilous dungeons packed with puzzles. Each item you receive will open up even more adventure-uncover a hidden area with the flying Beetle or find a clever way to hinder enemies with a whip. Whether you are scouring for secrets, getting in some sword practice, or upgrading equipment, forge your own path in the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD game.
Master realistic swordplay that corresponds to your movements
Gently swing your sword and angle your slashes to break through opponents’ defenses using intuitive motion controls. Link’s in-game movements will correspond to the angle of each strike you make with the Joy-Con controller, creating immersive swordplay that relies on strategy and accuracy. Figuring out how, when, and where to strike adds a puzzle-like twist to swordplay. On the go? Soar and slash using button-only controls. You can also use button controls on a Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controller.
Discover the origin of Link, Zelda, and the Master Sword
Join Link in his emotional quest to save Zelda, a childhood friend who must confront her destiny. Their special bond at the heart of the story is the world’s best hope for defeating the encroaching darkness-and its power that will echo through the ages. Embark on a destiny-defining quest to overcome ancient trials and forge the powerful Master Sword. The many residents of the floating island and Link’s home, Skyloft, have colorful personalities that shine as you help them with their troubles. Make sure to stop by Beedle’s shop, but keep an eye on the troublemaking Groose…"

i don't understand how so many people feel like the motion controls are the way too go. The gamepad controls, especially with the joycon's smaller analogue sticks is so responsive and fast, that I just cant imagine going back to motion. In fact, it works so well for me, it might have made the game a little bit too easy. The only thing that takes getting used to is holding down a button to look around, but after a bit of time it was alright.

I played this twice on the Wii. Despite the fact that it's my least favorite 3D Zelda, there are moments in this game that are truly incredible. It's held back by it's structure and game design. If I could get the HD version at a reasonable price, I'd be down to play it again.

I remember buying a Wii and Skyward Sword for my sister for Christmas a couple years back. Well, the thing is, sister is very very very very very VERY particular about her Zelda titles. She did not like this one bit. Not just because of the motion controls, but the story elements and NPCs did not win her over either. Ugh, what a nightmare. I was curious to see how much the HD remaster had changed the original. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it, and thank you again for your honest review. You keep up the awesome job, Lady Pelvic~!

Skyward Sword has a lot of problems -- namely, empty skies and repetition of areas and boss fights -- but I have never understood how motion controls are among those problems. I adored everything about Skyward Sword when it came out. The controls felt good to me. Fi wasn't anymore intrusive than Navi or Midna, and I didn't mind the company, coldy robotic or not. I mastered the silent realm challenges and beat the shit out of all the bosses. I even did some harp jams more than I needed to (it was stupid, but it was cute and I liked it). The live orchestral music was incredible, mine came with a CD. I loved the mischief I was allowed to get up to, throwing that cat thing off the edge and breaking the lady's pots. Somebody (I think the Completionist?) said it best: Skyward Sword crawls so that Breath of the Wild could fly. Funny when you consider that SS is aerial themed but I digress... The game is ok. Just ok. As per Zelda standards the art and music are top notch, but the gameplay design in this one is probably the worst of the 3D games. I agree on how repetitive it feels - the padding in this game is so obvious and a sense of tedium WILL surface, especially during the awful Silent Realm sections. And don't get me started on the Imprisoned boss, which you have to face 3 times! I completed SSHD once and will probably never play it again. For anybody on the fence I recommend only buying it on sale.

Just want to preface this by saying I enjoyed the video, different take than I have but thats alright. Honestly, would have to disagree on your take on the controls. I started non motion and ended non motion. was the only way I could get through this.. cringe. then I realized, not only is it not open world, the world doesn't even feel connected. The 3 areas you go to in the game are bland and unimaginative. you re-fight bosses IN THE STORY. Like, What? Its like they thought that Zant in TP was actually a good decision when it clearly was not. To me it honestly seems like this is the second example of pure laziness on the devs part. Then they took it to a whole new level in BOTW: Bland, everything looks the same, nothing to actually "explore" just find shrines that are all the exact same visual design (see: Lazyness) And on top of that, Screw all of the lore. somehow this game takes place at the end of ALL THREE TIMELINES. Yeah, let me just delete hyrule historia Aonuma says. not sure how or why gamers nowadays like to run around in nothing for 100+ hours, but growing up in the 90s.. I've never been more bored by a zelda title. at least SS TRIED to have a story I could care about, but even then, most of the scenes make me cringe. At least there were dungeons.
