My thoughts on the demons control being severed from Percival when he shot himself was that he had broken the "contract" between them by firing and hitting someone who wasn't the target (named on the gun) so he had to temporarily retreat...have loved this series and even the head Canon for piecing together such things is so fun. Been a div player for many years and just recently got into dnd but have always been a tbs or ttrpg player.

Percy did not even know about the deal. Demons don't really care about details like that. In DnD, Demons and Devils are different. Devils are the sticklers for details. Demons don't really care about consent. They just grab any excuse to cause as much destruction as possible.

Vengeance demons apparently are different than other demons. Devils are contractual, whereas demons are chaos. Vengeance demons canonically make deals. That's how they get their power. They just conveniently leave out the downside to their deals.

The sigil you mentioned is the symbol of Tiamat, goddess of evil dragons. She has five heads. Dragons of different colours have different abilities. Also, dragons get stronger as they get older. Brimscythe was basically an older teen/young adult. These are ancient.

Prior to the Briarwoods in Emon, it laid dormant and wasn't affecting his psyche yet. You're right I think the dragons turning up was really close to the solstice ritual Delilah was meant to do. The tree teleportation got them home really quick and Matt tends to make very dramatic things happen on solstices. The cast is so familiar with movie/tv tropes being directors and actors that I think Sam did suspect that the gun still had a demon in it, it was 100% a guess but making items in d&d takes a lot of time and ingame buying supplies so I understand the frustration of loosing it.

  • @ShadowyFox_86

    @ShadowyFox_86

Even more than it being magic, the gun had two different enchantments on it. That's an insane amount of time, energy, and money spent on this thing. Sam admitted (I think in the campaign wrap-up) that he didn't know the weapon was magic. It really was a guess that it would work, and even if it didn't Percy could just make another. I don't think they ever had enough time for him to make another.

Keyleth notably though doesn't say she isn't interested- she just thinks it would interfere with/is not as important as Work/Responsibilities- also recall she struggles like heck with self-confidence, especially regarding the expectations she feels her people have for her. And is also basically a rural small town homeschooled girl who's only been in the big wide world (or you could say adventuring university) for only a year or so. Even when not in the middle of combat, it's probably a terrifying idea to be in a Relationship. (Also see how weirded out she was about being treated as a hero, it also was still Not Good Timing, that may have reinforced the feelings she has that she's got too many responsibilities.)

About Keyleth and Vax's races, to clarify they are both technically half-elfs in the dnd sense, but i believe that Vax and Vex have one elf parent and one human parent whereas Keyleth has one elf parent and one half-elf parent, so she kinda technically has a little more elf than them, but not much to ever truly matter, as any half-elfs are typically kind of outcasted by both elves and humans.

And the Sovereign believing Brimscythe was part of a larger plot, before Vox machina ever met the Briarwoods? Brimscythe said “there was a time before where we, dragons ruled all of taldorei”. It was Lady Allura (and Lady Kima) the blonde woman and her red head halfing girlfriend who are a part of the council that who where the ones that fought a red dragon “years ago”. Also the solstice where the planes got closer, the briarwoods used it to summon something. Who’s to say others in the world took advantage of the solstice as well.

When they return to town, Vex calls Keyleth Kiki, Vax's nickname for her. It's a great way for the show to show that Vex has come to appreciate Keyleth, and is coming out of her fear of Keyleth taking Vax away. Addition: Vax saying "I'm going to walk away" is another fun easter egg for the campaign. Since everything is "theater of the mind", Liam (Vax's player) would often indicate that a conversation was over by saying "And I walk away." He got to say it in the show too and it served the same function, ending a conversation.

I love how everyone forgets that Vox Machina got named to the Council in second episode. It makes their expressions of surprise when he gives the council power so much funnier. Keyleth is from a tribe (air) of the Ashari, which are made up of many races and are a tolerant society. In order to be their leader she has to travel to the other elemental tribes to introduce herself and prove herself through challenges. She cannot return home unless she passes all the tests. Her mother went on the same journey and never returned. To this point in the story Keyleth has no idea what happened to her. If she died in a challenge or just in the wider world, or did she just give up and settle elsewhere? The uncertainty is part of Keyleth’s issues.

Another fun reaction with you two, always excited to see them pop up on my feed! Now that you're this far in, I can spoiler-free point out one of the subtle details they put into this show. When Percy is letting the demon be in control, not only does he have unlimited ammo like others said, but also shoots with the opposite hand! As for the dragons, Brimscythe was a young adult by D&D standards (350-400 years old). Those four are all ancient (800+ years) and are, individually, each a flying apocalypse in terms of raw power. Together they make Delilah and Silas look like Mary Poppins and Dick Van Dyke. 🤣

Originally, Delilah lost an arm... but realistically, she would've bled out. As usual, things went less dramatically than this, except for her death. She never had a final gambit, she just wanted to die. When Cassandra approached, she told her, "You could have been my daughter." Cassandra replied, "No. Cassandra is a deRolo. And you took them away from me. Now we're taking everything away from you," before running her through. Cassandra went through a lot more mindfuckery than was presented in this version; and after she betrayed the second uprising, some residents of Whitestone were slow to trust her again. She does *not* want to be in charge of Whitestone, but her brother keeps going off on adventures... I'll get into the dragons, next time. Meanwhile, there must be a supercut of all the conversations Keyleth had with the Sun Tree. You should watch them at some point, it's pretty trippy - kinda literally - but maybe wait until after the second season.

18:29 So Vex, Vax and Keyleth are all half elves, though in the twins' case they have an elven father and a human mother and Keylth has two half elf parents. As for the fantasy racism of the situation... well, kinda, but not really. Keyleth's people, the Ashari, are a very varied group of lots of different races, there's not much in the way of racism there. Vax's background's a little different, but they'll get into that more in the show, so I won't spoil anything. But suffice it to say, right now Keyleth's reasons for turning Vax down are partially what she said, that she's too worried about her own responsibilities to focus on a relationship atm, and partially something that, again, they'll explore a bit more in the show.

Dude i love how many people are enjoying this series, from watching the Tabletop Version on twitch from the beginning to campaign 3. Ive had the pleasure of seeing it all live. But animated?! It just feels so much more real. 🥺 honestly, you guys are in for a great ride! Im jealous you get to watch it blind! Hahaha.

On the point of a dragon being hidden in the council. That dragon was brimscythe who they killed in an episode two. The only thing I will say here is… strap him and hold on tight. Many things yet to come.

You'd THINK Percy would have been able to make another gun like the List, but no, he just took Ripley's instead - in the game version of the story. His wasn't just the first gun ever, he also was able to bind two enchantments to two barrels (extra fire and ice damage respectively) despite him not being a magic user. Without Orthax's help he didn't have the time nor could he justify the cost of doing it again when he was no longer obsessed with vengeance. In the game version, Percy had been hunting Ripley since before he met Vox Machina, which is why she knew about Percy's gun and had decided to make her own. That's how she lost her hand.

To understand part of Keyleth's reluctance to be with Vax, you have to understand a druid's relationship with time. As druids become more powerful they start to age slower. By the time they reach archdruid level they age 1 year for every 10 years. So it's entirely possible for a druid to live to be 1000 years old. So knowing that she would outlive all of Vox Machina weighs on her.

Sadly, Percy is never able to make another gun like the List. Two different magical enchantments caused it to be expensive and time consuming to make.

Yes, we had to wait for a year for season 2 and the next arc! These dragons are terrifying, they are much stronger than Brimsythe was. And you`re one of a very, very few reactors who acknowledged Uriel`s retire. i also was very sad because of his decision, even though I knew everything from the campaign. But there`s logic in his words: a whole council of rulers is not as easily mind-controlled as one king (who also usually has an absolute power). Poor Vax, this is the second time he chooses the _wrong_ moment to talk to Kiki. It`s very interesting to watch your reactions, because you both notice *a ton* of foreshadowing and small thrown-out phrases and build theories on them and interpret things *correctly* most of the time, to the point I start to think that you may have catched spoilers somewhere.... and then you say something absolutely off, which would be obvious to those who have watched the campaign :DDDD I don`t even want to correct your mistakes, because 1) your thoughts are so cool and interesting, and 2) you`ll get your answers anyway, I don`t want to spoil anything.
