you should totally react to the comparison video. Marisha's response is priceless. And the warning isn't just to Vox Machina, but it lets the citizens of Whitestone to know what to look for and what might happen to them if they help.

I definitely want to show Jason the suntree moment. Thanks for the suggestion!

In their home game, Ashley Johnson was brought into their D&D (maybe Pathfinder at the time) campaign for the second session but her first time coincided with Travis unable to be there. Since Travis wasn't there, Matt made it so Grog had returned to his home of Westruun. The rest of Vox Machina got worried and went to look for him where they met his friend Pike. The campfire scenes were things that the group did in their campaign that they didn't have time to properly animate. The scene with Grog ripping out the tongue was from the first arc of their live stream. Keyleth killing the dwarf was also from that same arc as Grog's kill. Vax's kill of the Tiger-man was from an arc where the group split up in two groups and had guest players come in to play. (Two of which will be in future episodes.) Scanlan's story has no known corresponding basis from their games, unless it is pre-stream.

Sam confirmed that his kill was an invention. Scanlan just never was very good at killing.

I'll never forget the group's reactions when it finally dawned on the what exactly Matt was describing at the Sun tree.

Shame the original video was lost, but this was OK as a stand in... a reaction to the side-by-side comparison of the Sun Tree moment could also add back in a touch of that first time seeing vibe. Would also be a good peek into what the live is like for a newbie.

I have found that a second watch through can actually be really fun as you notice things you missed the first time, such as hints to what is coming. And as someone who has been recording a let's play for her best friend, I have felt the sting of having to re-do hours of gameplay because i forgot to hit record. 😅 Why am I recording the LP? We both love a game series but this installment came out around the time she had her child and had very little time to play games. I offered to record (and edit) it so she can catch up before the next game, that they are starting to heavily market, comes out. Edit: Spelling

On the subject of favorite characters: I'm an OG critter, so yes I've loved them all equally, but then again, everyone is in love with Laura Bailey 🎶 (cue harps), including the whole table. Vex is probably my favorite, maybe even more than Jester. She's a true leader, as yet unaware, and her motivations not yet well understood, by her or the viewers. It's a deep and subtle arc that theyre handling very well and very slowly, which is a bold move given the pacing, and I love it. To be fair, they're handling all the character arcs well. Setting some earlier, staggering others, and tying all the threads together from within episodes, seasons, and the full story at the same time. Brilliant. But yes, Vex is best.

@@MovieverseOnline The setups, foreshadowing, and payoffs are a marvel, even for guys like us. The rewatch value is high, for anybody that's wondering. It'll be quite a tapestry by the end, the first seasons will hit even harder.

I think one of the big differences between the sun tree in the show vs the campaign is that we didn't focus on the specifics of Percy's family. Percy lost 8 relatives so when they first see the Suntree and see 8 bodies hanging, Percy is already thinking its his family (the chat watching it live also jumps straight to that conclusion), so when Matt starts describing the bodies it goes from "we know what is going on" to confusion to realization of the situation and that its their actions not just a backstory element that has done this. Which is where the "no one is safe" comes in. The 8 bodies being the player characters (they where technically 8 players around that time, but i believe Pike might not have been around and one was Tiberius) + a bear to make that an 8 and the same number as the relatives Percy lost, which i think is a very conscious choice from Matt.

Good point. I had forgotten about Percy thinking it was his family at first.
