While being just as overly powerful as Rey and starkiller, Kyle always had something they really didn’t have, an ocean of charm and charisma. He will always be canon in my heart.

To be fair to Starkiller, when you’re trained purely as a Sith Assassin for over a decade, charisma and social interaction wouldn’t be you’re forte. I’m not saying you’re wrong with your statement, you’re not btw, though the reasoning for it does make more sense in comparison to Rey, who wasn’t under the same constraints

@@Leftylt1234 yeah I get that, I still like starkiller, he gains more of a personality as the story goes on which is perfect for a character like him gaining identity, if he got to progress more the way Kyle did I think he would be more appreciated in the fandom. Like for real all of Rey's skills make sense for Jaina, knowing the Millennium falcon inside out, being able to speak to Chewbacca, and force powers/skills. Jyn Erso is a rip-off and unironically white-washed Jan Ors. Techanlilly Andor could be seen as just a dumbed-down version of Kyle Katarn. Kanan from Rebels can also be seen as a younger if but still bootleg version of Kota from Force Unleashed, even copied the 'omg I'm now blind but feeeeeeeeeeeel through the force' stick.

The Prequels : Star Wars Republic comics (that were kinda retconned with The Clone Wars, but still have very interesting stories). The transition to the Empire : Star Wars Dark Times (act as a sequel to Republic comics but can be read standalone), there are also the legends Darth Vader stories, I'd recommend Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison. Galactic Civil War : there are the classic star wars comics (very old and finicky with the artstyle and canon, but contains some fun tidbits), Splinter of the Mind's Eye (similar thing), Star Wars Rebellion comics (kinda meh). Post-RotJ : like Star Wars Rogue Squadron (a follow up to the first Star Wars X-Wing novel, actually most of the X-Wing novel series is a good read for people interested Star Wars Legends), Star Wars Thrawn trilogy comic adaptation (if you didn't read the excellent novels), and most importantly Star Wars Legacy (an entirely new era, could be read on its own). Kyle will always be canon in my heart. It's a treat having the guy as your master in JKA, and then when he and Jaden pop up here and there in later novels and stuff. I actually started with Academy when I was really young, so for a long time I never really knew Kyle had a lot more to him before playing the other games. A shame Disney canned him entirely, but with their track record, perhaps that's for the best. I also loved how like Luke, he used dark side powers as well. Even in Academy when you don't play him, he ain't afraid to use force lightning on some fools. I would highly recommend all the games, even if you just play the later Outcast and Academy (which also have a nice mod called Movie Duels if you want saber combat more block and endurance based). There's a radio drama as well that covers Dark Forces I and II if you want the story without having to play the older games (but it does skim over DF1 a bit more than 2).

I used to always think Kyle was stronger than Luke because in Jedi Academy if you spawn Desann in with the console and get him to fight 1v1 with Kyle or Luke he will kill Luke but lose to Kyle. However apparently in 1 of the novels he gets owned by Darth Caedus whereas Luke is evenly matched with him or a little stronger still.

Sulon is a moon, the Moonnof Sullust, which makes Jerec having the old Imperial Governor's tower loaded with Stormtroopers kinda weird. Since Sullust was firmly New Republic held at the time, hell the Rebels took it before Endor even.

I remember watching my dad and brother playing Outcasts and Jedi Knight when I was little and it wasn't until 2022 that I played Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy myself. Kyle quickly grew on me with his dry wit and little tolerance for Imperial bullshit, I dare say he's my favorite obscure/lesser known character. I had no idea about his backstory and continued story in Legends, making me like him even more. Thank you for this video :)

Correction: 1st generation Dark Troopers are actually cybernetically enhanced Clone Trooper veterans which is a lot darker because it's basically men who've known nothing but war and cursed with a short life sacrificing their own humanity and becoming the very thing they hate in order continue their pre-programmed purpose well beyond their natural lifespan. P.S. The Jedi Knight protagonist is canonically human male

  • @VegetaLF7

Kind of. The ones you're referring to are the "Phase Zero" Dark Troopers as seen in the OG Battlefront 2, a retcon to the Dark Trooper project since they wanted the Dark Troopers in the game but wanted them to be different than what we saw in Dark Forces. The three types of Dark Troopers we see in Dark Forces are all droids. Phase One is a skeletal frame, Phase Two is fully armored and the mass production model, and Phase Three is the armor Rom Mohc wore for his duel with Kyle, doubling as both a droid that could move on it's own and an exoskeleton suit worn by a person. The Dark Troopers we saw in Mandalorian for example are the closest to Phase Two, while Phase One would be kind of like the Assassin Droids seen in TCW. The Clone Trooper veterans turned into Dark Trooper prototypes are the 1st gen, true enough, but aren't proper Dark Troopers.
