I’ve sought mentorship in so many different aspects of nursing basically looking to see what sticks or works for me to slowly reclaim my freedom, independence contractor nursing, health coaching, private duty nurse, whatever it takes, im glad to see nurses creating their own lane.

I'm with you. There is so much that we can do with our nursing degrees and we shouldn't limit ourselves to only working at the bedside.

@Grace Madison independent contract nursing so I have access to more write-offs if you were to ask any Cpa what they would choose between a w2 and a 1099 most would say 1099, the difference is you just have to keep records of your expenses for deduction purposes which have to be ordinary and necessarily for your business. If you want more flexibility in the types of businesses you want to have picture a plate of Hispanic food like beans, rice, meat, potatoes. These are all closely related and for that reason I chose to center my LLC around health services , the IRS can’t say my scrubs books, classes and supplies aren’t for my business, I purchase them with my business credit card and save the bank statements which is easier than receipts, if I drive to my 1099 nursing gig I can write off my transportation, gas, vehicle depreciation ect. Only business I would deviate from would be for real estate, this is one of the largest tax havens for entrepreneurs.

that sounds like the perfect job for me. I was a paralegal for 18 years or so, but there's no money in it. so i retired and moved to OK. i still adore the practice of law, tho. I'm starting my prereqs for nursing school next month. hopefully, I will have my nursing degree in a couple of years. I'll be nearly 70 when I finish. Do a show on REALLY old people becoming nurses. lol😊 maybe I'll go into the law aspect someday.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad is why I bought my first house in my 20’s and worked 2-3 jobs to consistently make investments into stocks and retirement accounts. Liz has a very insightful perspective about working as a consultant. Great interview!

This is why proper ratios is important. Nurses take the overload of patients without realizing that they may be facing court some day. I document what’s needed with objective information, nothing more, nothing less. 😊.. great episode.

I’m not sure if there is a shortage, they just don’t want to hire. There are plenty of new grads in different areas of the country that are waiting for a job 6-12 months post grad. Even as an experienced nurse you won’t hear back from a job for weeks on weeks. These hospital systems are a business at the end of the day and hiring more staff drains their bank accounts.

Thank you so much for making this video. I’m currently looking into being a legal nurse and this has provided me with so much information and other people that I could branch out and ask for help. I’ve been at the bedside for about 16 years part of it. I did some home care just to take a break, but at this point I’m burnt out. During the pandemic, I became a travel nurse right now I’m still operating as a travel nurse, but taking local assignments, even working for Internal agencies in the hospital, but things have changed so much that I’m ready for a change and away from the hospital. The downside to working in internal agency with the hospitals is that they really control how much money you make. You’re the last to get overtime and the first to get called off. I don’t need someone to tell me and control how much money I make that’s the main reason why I’m looking into legal nursing and start branching away and be my own boss.

There is more than enough nurses, the organizations REFUSE TO PAY MORE, The organization sacrifices patient care and nurses are passionate about providing patient care, however, most have families to feed and have bills to pay so they stay and unfortunately the companies know that. 😢
