    @@nanobluelectrobuzz9227 Did you not see how that attitude worked out? Shawn was being a prick, no doubt, everyone said it plain as day. However, Bret was being difficult as well on where to drop the belt. It was about Bret and not what's best for business. I don't know how old you were at the time, but keep in mind what was happening. Monday night wars, Brett was leaving and getting 2M a year so he was winning regardless, Vince had witnessed not too long prior, Alundra Blaze dropping the women's championship belt in the garbage can on WCW television. Tension was high, you think Vince was going to chance Brett taking the belt to WCW? Now they go over all these finishes and etc and Bret says no to all of it. Bret of course was doing this to middle finger Shawn for Shawn middle fingering Brett for the lost my smile move. Yet, Shawn was staying, he was an A hole but he was Wwe's A hole as Jim Cornette stated. A time honored tradition is on your way out you do favors and job and drop the belt to the next guy. Brett said na, so others behind him wouldve pulled the same stunt. Shawn tried it on Austin but Taker said, na. As far as Survivor Series goes, Bret was contractually obligated to wrestle Shawn. If Bret wouldn'tve it wouldve been breach of contract. Creative Control means you have control over how your character is used and booked but not where he can show up under contract. Now you can say all of it with CC but back them it had its limits. It was fucked all the way around but when you have Jim Cornette, Nash, Hall, HHH, Jim Ross, Austin, Taker, Mark Henry, all saying Bret was being a baby too, guess what I'm inclined to belive them

    Great interview and an excellent interviewer asking pointed, relevant questions that Bret didn't shy away from answering. I worship Bret, my favourite in-ring presence of all time, rivalled only by his brother and Kurt Angle for the ability to tell a story in a match. He is bitter about the SJ and rightfully so, it started his life on the road to hell, if that didn't happen, I don't think Owen would be dead, as the course of history and Owen becoming the Blue Blazer may not have happened. Bret however does have a tendency to judge a wrestler on what he did for him rather than wrestlers in general, he calls out Hulk, Warrior and Jake (had no idea he had an issue with Jake or that Jake didn't help others) for the first and foremost not helping HIM...then others in that order, that's the only thing that bugs me in an otherwise brutally candid interview full of raw emotion

    I’m so proud to say I have met Bret twice in person. The first time I arrived at the event he was going to be at roughly 9 hours before the doors opened since I got a cheap seat and thought I would have to get there mega early if I wanted to have a prayer of meeting Bret. It turned out Bret wasn’t there yet, and when he was driven to the venue, instead of sneaking Bret through a back entrance, they took him to the front, and I got to talk with him briefly and shake his hand before anyone else there that day, as I was still the only fan waiting at the door at that time. I didn’t get a picture or autograph until later that night when he was actually signing and meeting fans, but it was so cool of the people in charge of the promotion to let me have that minute or so of time when he didn’t have to talk with me at all until it was time to meet fans. That’s a memory I will treasure forever for sure.

    I like Brett's honesty. Today, the "behind the scene's", is controlled, and fans that follow everything from the shows, to where are they and what's next, still question what's true. This interview and many more from Brett, leave no questions and straight honesty, like it or not, it is what it is.

    I see both sides of this one: Yes, I''d love to see Owen's legacy honored, but I also understand Martha's not wanting McMahon to profit off the memory of a man who died needlessly because he hired an inexperienced rigger using equipment never designed for the task all to save about 2 seconds of airtime!

    @Andre Ricardo Bryant Watch the "The Dark Side of the Ring" episode on Owen's death. Both Oje and Athena share their mother's opinion that they have no interest in allowing the company they feel killed their father to EVER benefit off him. If Vince is serious about a video collection of Owen's life/career, he'd offer to donate 100% of ALL profits, (as established by an independent auditor), to the Owen Hart Foundation... but, of course, we all know he'd never go for letting a nickle go... and, as I said, the HoF is out, period!

  • @richall9654

    @richall9654

    @Andre Ricardo Bryant Hense the suggestion to donate 100% of the profits; WWE can recoup it's costs, but not a penny more... but knowing how Vince does business, (and the criminal element in a position of power his wife is working for), that's why I said the project would require an independent auditor to keep everybody "honest".

    It's interesting to see Bret talk about Owen and his widow Martha, it's an interesting question about allowing the company responsible for his death to celebrate or indeed profit from his career, that aspect seems to be his wife's main contention whereas Bret wants to celebrate the career of a great wrestler which far predates his time in WWE, regardless of who it profits. It's hard to choose a side in this instance as both have legitimate gripes.

I have the Owen Hart DVD that they mentioned here and I watched Dark Side of the Ring on Owen's Fall/accident/death. Really sad, Cornette crying, pretty tough to watch. My younger brother has the book Martha Hart made about Owen Hart.

    What Bret is failing to realize is that Martha was Owen's wife and if my wife was killed due to the company she works for negligence I wouldn't want to be involved with that company nor would I want my wife's legacy tainted with her former employers shitty way of an apology by trying to put my wife into a bullshit hall of fame that isn't even real to begin with or any other bullshit memorabilia they can think of. So, after watching this and the owen hart episode of dark side of the ring I've come to the conclusion that Martha is right and Bret has his head up his ass.

  • @coltonomega7700

    Exactly, I understand him wanting his brother to be recognized for his wrestling but WWE is not the way to do that. Vince wants to do that so he can make money. As soon as Owens name is attached to the HoF he will be trying to make a buck by selling collector editions boxsets for his matches, action figures, video game character models, etc. The HoF is simply a contract selling away your character and likeness for the rest of your life. Look at what happened to Sting. So I totally understand Martha not wanting Vince to make even a penny off of Owen, and I’ll be honest I don’t think Owen would want Vince to make money off him either. I think he is content that his wrestling, and his commitment to being an amazing dad speaking for itself and will live on forever.

    You’re a complete idiot if you think bret is failing to realiZe Martha is owens wife. Bret was at Martha’s side for two years when the rest of the hart family wasn’t. Just cause they had a falling out later and bret did this interview doesent mean Bret failed to realize maths was owens wife. Who was there to hug Martha when she saw her dead husband for the first time in the casket? It was bret. So don’t listen to one interviewer and sound ridiculous like bret isn’t thinking of Martha when for two years he went against his own family through the lawsuit to back her. Do a little reading before talking like an idiot.
