This is the outcome of free market competition. We all win. It's great. But this level of tech should have all been available in 96' when the OBD port became a requirement; and at this price range-- not ten grand for a snapon.

Has anyone found out for sure if the x431 pro v5 has this?

Something I notice, with regards to you talking about the tree being accurately assigned, is that it is not mapping these in order they are populated on the screen. I suspect what is happening is the system is scanning them in the order based on their assigned location in the ECU; but htey are being populated on the tree based on assignments to what system they are in. If you go by the order they are actually scanned, you will likely get an accurate layout of where and how the modules are physically wired or at least their memory location assigned in the PCM.

Very good point. I have two scanners with topology and I will have to test them and see if each populates the same or if they are different.

You mentioned vin coding and key coding, have you made any opportunities in confirming that it works in that area? Last question have you done any coding with it as far as disabling functions or enabling that weren’t available on vehicles?

I have programmed keys for GM. I have written the VIN to a Jeep ABS control module and depending on the year make and model I have coded different options on Chrysler, Toyota, and Lexus vehicles. The only complaint I have with it is it will not pull the pin codes on vehicles that have them for key programming but as long as you either have the pin code or the manufacturer doesn't use them it will program keys.

@@737mechanic right on, I’ve got a few more questions that I’m waiting for a launch rep to answer before I can commit to this purchase. I don’t turn wrenches as a tech anymore but I buy a lot of dumb high end cars haha and the newer I go on those the more I’m needing something like this. If it’s a perfect fit after the representative can answer I’ll have you and your videos to thank.

Did you buy your unit from Amazon or ebay? Mine didn't update the opology either. I messaged launch and they said My unit may not be compatible For the topology. But my update version is the one that's suppose to have it.

Where did the update appear. I have an launch pros+. I didn't see the update.

When I first turned to scan tool on it popped up and said something along the lines of important update or something like that but I didn't choose to do it at that time and when I went into the update page it was the top update. I will get the version when I get home and post it in the description.

No, I have a CRP919EBT and it does not have topology.

Did you find out if it was capable of programming new keys

It will on some cars but it did fail on a 2015 Lexus nx200t.

I just bought a Launch X-431 Elite and mine doesn't has that useful option, the scanner is up to date. I will contact launch tech support and if I can't get that option I will think in return it, it's not a cheap scanner and I spent some money on it plus I am not mechanic but I wanted something high quality 😕.

Let me know what customer support has to say and keep me updated. Even without topology the scan tool is still top notch, but a lot of people do like topology.

@@737mechanic I will for sure, the main reason I bought this scanner it's because I lost money buying a car with bad transmission so I know that a professional scanner will help me to prevent losing money by not buying a car with engine or transmission issues plus I will use it for my family cars but I am wondering if a X-tool is a better fit for me. @@williamperez0306 I got immo plus and it does not have topology function also. in update section it says my app does not have updates. my version is 7.00.002. launch support does not answer and does not look like it is true support service, they are offline most of the time. Have you received any answer from "support"?

431 pro elite is a 400 priced tool. Not expect topology

@2:44 when you asked about a percentage about how much longer the scan has left to go.... its there.. just not as a percentage... but a status bar. If you look above the color grid legend of the modules listed.. you will look at the red bar moving from left to right... and the more items scanned... the bar will move to the right until its completely finishing the scans.

Yes, I realize the red bar is the percentage indicator, but my other two scan tools give a number also.

@737mechanic Hey... just giving you an update... I was working on a 15 Altima... and did a "local diagnose" and from the system scan menu... it shows a list of modules on the vehicle to communicate with. And the first line is "Processing in Progress" and it gives the percentage of time left that you were looking for.

Did the pros v get the update?

@@737mechanic cheers mate I got the AUTEL 508s from ebay the other week not cheap looked like it had been used so o sent it back now iam looking at the launch x431 pro plus with Key coding and that one you have andy its got topology mapping MODULES and the AUTEL 508s has not and its cheaper that one you have is £500 United kingdom money cheaper

Would you say it's better than the AUTEL 508s

The Autel IM508s is a key programmer with limited diagnostic capabilities, if you need a good key programmer the Autel IM508s is very nice but if you want more diagnostic capabilities you will want to go with the launch but the launch will not pull pin codes and will only program some keys on certain year makes and models.

@@737mechanic I had a AUTEL 508s did not have topology mapping MODULES and other stuff tiny screen where the launch x431 pro plus is £500 cheaper and if you go for the launch x431 prog 5 vi it got topology mapping MODULES and bidirectional as well 10 inch screen

I jut saw a review about Launch x431 pro5 and it wasn't impressive at all because it did not work on some vehicle. That was weird, though. I think the pro5 is not for the US market.
