Figuring that I've spent enough time in Europe and Asia recently, it was time to head back to South America. I chose LATAM Airlines economy class from Los Angeles (LAX) to Santiago (SCL) for the first segment, and it ended up being a really great experience.
The aircraft for this 11 hour flight was a 787-9 (CC-BBF), and I was seated in 24L.

Another nice video Scott! I could relate with this video on so many levels. I travel SFO-SYD a lot and the way I try to stay hydrated is to drink a lot on the day of the flight and especially 3-4 hrs prior to departure and then of course use the bathroom before boarding and then during the flight, little sips of water here and there throughout the 14 hr flights helps me keep hydrated and I only need to use the lavatory twice.
@sanspotter
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah, that sounds like a pretty good plan - I’ve also discovered that I can balance the water intake and ...output 😆 .... fairly well on really long flights. I tend not to drink anything for the first 4 to 5 hours, and by that point (because of the dry air) anything I drink doesn’t go though me all that fast. There’s definitely a science to this! 😂

Does Holy Tish help?? Having flown from Rio to Santiago the scenery over the Andes is stunning. The seats in economy on a 4 hour flight were HORRENDOUS with little leg room and as soon as the clown in front of me reclined his seat I had to get the small pillow and put it in front of my knees. I did have an exit row seat BUT because I don't speak Spanish (which meant the crew were from Chile and not Brazil where the native language is Portuguese) they moved me to the back of the plane. I did argue that the crew would also give instructions to the passengers in English meant nothing... also I noticed this flight was labelled as a 787-900 flight but the emergency card was for a 787-800 ??? Great review mate!!

To be fair, I booked this ticket through the American Airlines website, and I had to call to get my seat assignments. Apparently they don’t honor phone reservations all that tightly, but I’d assume you’ll be safe if you book your ticket directly with Latam.
Good video bro! Love your humor 😎. Could you maybe do a Klm Dreamliner 787-9 review? Business class or Economy class. It's my national airline! Soon we will get Airbus A350 900 and Boeing 787-10 in our fleet😆😆.

Reporting... On the trip report. Such grace and skill with words. I just browsed the comments section and then PATREON, where you stated you are, and I quote, "a mega-ginormous airplane nerd." Yet you somehow don't know the difference between the 787-8 and 787-9? Disappointing. We go inside the airport, where we see the ticketing counters, as well as get a good view of the airport's Tom Bradley terminal. (Fun fact: Did you know that Tom Bradley is actually the name of a hall in UCLA? He must be famous over there or something.) I love LAX for one reason and one reason only: A380. Is there any more explanation needed? We also get a tour of the lounge, which has a super long line, although I have no clue what food they offer there, only what was on his plate. All I saw was a wrap and some rice. Good enough. The seats look comfortable enough. And NOOO O O O O the red travel shoes are gone! That was another major trademark of the SANspotter channel, was the shot of the shoes in the seat for everyone that has foot fetishes, I guess. We get a shot of two Boeing 777-300ERs, which belonged to JAL and Aeroflot. We soon board using buses, which is always a fun time. The aircraft has gorgeous mood lighting, and even though I hate the 787, one can't help but admire how beautiful the LATAM cabin looks with it. We see the amenities given to us, (meaning Scott) which include an extremely plush blanket (for economy class) and pillow, (again, for economy class) as well as a provided pair of headsets. Here's an alternative to holy smokes: "Heilige Scheiße." You say that in a video and all of your German fans or fans who speak German will go absolutely nuts. If you Google Translate it, you know what it means, but according to my Austrian friend who I met literally five days ago, Scheiße isn't even a curse word in German! I mean, it is, but it's about equivalent to the word "idiot" in English. It gets thrown around by everyone, including toddlers. Soon we're departing, but that TECHNO MUSIC JUST KEEPS PLAYING! Where did the non-interrupted takeoff sound go? To Facebook, apparently. Hmm. And hold on. At 5:58, did I just hear a saxophone! Finally, some actual instruments! Soon it is... Lunchtime, I think, and we are served ravioli. But I need more. What kind of ravioli? Was it good? What was provided with it, if anything? What was on top of the ravioli? I NEED ANSWERS, and I also shouldn't have to ask in a summary. Summaries are just supposed to be a brief overview of the video, and then I say the video was good. But no... Also, 7:30... You do realize that if that happens, you will go viral on every social media platform out there, right? It may get you more popular, but is it really worth it? Plus, it'll only be a fad, like most memes. They last for a month and then die... So we get the restroom tour, which is good. It keeps me sane to know that you're still doing that. Soon we land, and when we do, we get a reflection of Scott, who summarizes that food is scarce on the flight. I have not yet heard him say that the onboard product was bad, which is concerning. I want to hear some brutally honest reviews so I can compare the pros and cons of flying with that airline. Apparently, you aren't too good at finding cons though... Alright, I need to know... What camera do you USE? That stuff produces some HD QUALITY NO LAG video! Also, if you haven't, take a look at QFS Aviation's videos. He goes into depth on the seat and gives a lot of information that would be useful for travelers like me who are thinking of trying a product. And he has GOOD MUSIC, as it has a piano, ukulele, and various instruments that help calm people down. This music is all drums and computer-generated sounds. That is the level that sets a tripreporter apart from another. Unfortunately, he'd never read my comments like you do, so I want to help you improve so that you can be the best tripreporter out there, redefining KZread's aviation community, beating Sam Chui, and appealing to all. (I would use that for my own channel, but I don't really fly on a variety of airlines, and that can get boring and stale after a while.) But unfortunately, we aren't there yet, so baby steps, I guess. Overall, pretty well made, but there are some aspects of your previous videos that should be incorporated into these. I still wish there were more statistics and more showing of the seats, though, as well as a better music choice. I'd give it a 7/10, solely because there wasn't enough detail, and the value is in the detail.
