A powerful segment. I’ll never forget what a disaster W, Cheney, and Rumsfeld wrought onto the military, and all of America.

Ans was continued by Obama and Trump and fumbled by biden . Evenly shared between Republicans and Democrats. The same bird, same corrupt lawyers with corporate agendas. Same as in Ukraine. If ever money laundering was obvious it's in Ukraine

this war was nothing compared to many others around the world that you wouldn't even be able to fathom... all depends on who has the mental strength and willpower. We as Americans are used to being coddled and safe in our first world nation.
I’m 62, I’m completely fed up with useless wars like Vietnam (a much older half brother served), Afghanistan and Iraq! These have cost us much more than the trillions of dollars. Our politicians should be forced to serve at least one deployment!

One cohort younger than you, but I think of Iraq this way. The US first became involved in Iraq when I was 14 years old. I'm 47 now and have grown children.

its true.. I can't express how much I respect my wife by taking care of our newborn while I am gone. I pray every day that she can keep it up. 400 days that we will never get back.
Thank you to all military service members and their families.
Very sad.. they sacrificed a lot. It’s kinda weird tho, the title is “the lasting toll of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan” and it didn’t mention the (at least) 500,000 civilians deaths from those wars… and the orphans, the widows, the trauma, the poverty that carries on today.

Rip. Thanks, guys!❤
A military soldier fights two battles: one on the battle field and on off the battle field (PTSD).
You are a Good Man Scott Pelley
Well said!!! Amen
War is hell. Some feel at home there.
I watched 2 bushes that should have been arrested and imprisoned. I watched my nephew go and fight in Iraq. A country that had none of the things that they lied about.
RIP Marine. I agree my best years were in the Corps, best years of my life
Heaven is for Heroes, Semper-Fi Marine, R.I.P.
The politicians should be forced the talk to all these people before they decide to risk someone else's life
IIRC, not ONE single member of our lawmakers had their sons or daughters served in the military at the time when the war was declared nor during the duration of the war.

This is still largely true. Almost no son or daughter of a Congress person has served overseas. But now a few veterans do serve in Congress.
Rest in Peace Soldiers.
A terrible price for vengeance. Nothing gained, nothing won. Lost lives, lost morality, lost money.
Please make a 60 Minutes KZread Compilation Video about this… And if there’s an interesting person who should be interviewed regarding about this matter, it is none other than: Artist Adam Driver, who if my memory still serves me correctly and hopefully I’m not mistaken- Adam, was a former serviceman for a particular US Armed Forces Branch based on one of his TED Talk engagements… His notable role in Star Wars Episodes 7-9/ The Rey Skywalker Saga as Kylo Ren- a rage filled padawan, then eventually leader of the Sith Aligned First Order- the rage aspect in the role he portrayed, might have something to do with him being also experiencing the post-war PTSD like those featured in this docu…
RIP Kevin
All that blood and treasure and for what.
As soon as they put regular troops in Afghanistan I knew it was another Vietnam. Lots of money and blood for absolutely nothing. And they wonder why they can’t meet enlistment requirements. Thanks to everyone who served.
I was married but didn't have kids when I served and deployed. My oldest was born while was in the reserve but was only 2 when I was medically retired. But now my three kids and my wife suffer from my physical health and mental health problems.
Not too long ago, I did a Toastmasters speech on contagious PTSD. I think it was mostly met on deaf ears.
Military is short of personnel, one of the reasons is needless fighting since 2001. My neighbors are deploying to ME and Africa all the time!
The problem with loyalty to a cause, is that the cause will always betray you
As an Afghan-American, very easy and loud. Waste of time and money of tax payers. After 20 years of what is the situation now?
When you start two wars without a defined end state…..on top of the thousands of innocents killed or forever scarred.
Our soldiers deserve better 😢

countries should avoid wars
I was in Iraq after OIF. I was OIR and fortunately the only threats we had were drones, IEDs, and mortars for the most part. We only took small arms about 5 times. One occasion being much more serious than the others. I always had loads of respect for the OG OIF guys. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like in Ramadi or Fallujah.
Iraq: The mission was to destroy Iraq's alleged nuclear arsenal and then nation building (ie-remove Saddam from power) we got Saddam but... Thousands of US/NATO troops killed, Thousands of Iraqis killed- and zero nuclear weapons found :( , Iraq still in middle of civil war Afghanistan: Mission was to find Osama Bin Laden (we got him) but then it became nation building (i.e. removing Taliban from power) we removed the Taliban in 2001 but... 20yrs of war, thousands of US/NATO troops killed, thousands of Afghans killed- Taliban lost control of Afghanistan in 2001 and they take back control 2021, now Taliban currenlty face a civil war against ISIS-K So sad :( We need to learn from this so we don't make the same mistakes again
The soldiers they fight for they country should be treated life heroes and not to forget about them when they come back simple 🌟🇺🇸⚖️👸👶💯🌟👈🤔
Do. Not. Enlist. In. The military.

Here's a tip for the future. Don't start illegal wars.
There is an irony in this… Many or most would agree with the final statement. It is hard however for us to see and understand that what another country has been doing with our support, will cause families to suffer for generations. Either you do not care or it is simply willfull ignorance.
This is why the costs are still climbing for the Iraq / Afghanistan quagmires. Probably will add another $500B in costs over time.
no one forced you to go to afghanistan or iraq it was your choice
A messenge from global south to the global north. The war machines don't care about human lives, which it fires upon or the human life it uses to fire the machines. We should all reject global greed together
Get help my father, fought in WW two, and Korea ,both of my Grandfathers fought in WW1 , my uncle fought in Vietnam , my brother and I desert storm, my mom told me my dad got help from VA ,VFW, and his father, my brother, and I got help especially from our father and grandfathers i’ll say this one last time if you need help, please get it. Everything we did and saw, would have been ok. If we were allowed to win.
Inter generational trauma.
And most of this was for absolutely nothing. Iraq was for nothing, and other than killing OBL, the mission to spread democracy in Afg was a complete waste. A waste of our national treasures, soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen who gave it all for this country.
Bring back the draft. That will get families to do something next time Washington wants to go to war.
This right here is why we need a strong US President to broker peace in Israel and Ukraine. Being both sides together. Open ended wars result in this
Said The things cannot built on self a day himself ones out of commands of their custody to declares so many ways to one option jump or run both has unlogic's ' 😁
End the endless wars. Invest in humanity, not the hegemonic militaristic post-WW2 dream of empire.

See why separation of church and state is important. Iranian regime, idf ,Afghanistan!!!! We are absolutely not a Christian nationalism . Marquis de La Fayette (((If the liberties of the American people are ever destroyed, they will fall by the hands of the clergy.))) Hate for Muslims is no different than hate for the Jewish community. And we see clearly that Palestinians and Jewish people are standing against hamas. Which do not practice Muslims version of Christianity!

Correction: Palestinians and Jewish people are standing against the apartheid state of Israel
@johnnylafayette
16 күн бұрын
@@metaljy08 I don't need correction, Britain the apartheid kings took possession of Israelis and Palestinians during ww2 and 2 faced promises to both sides leaving this mess to clean up just like Africa and the United states. It's time the religious ideology and politics separate or Jewish superiority complex with twisted ideology to Muslims from hamas and the sick Iran factions. Are the problem! People evolve with the times or get past by! The illegal settlements and keeping Gaza like a pow in cages has got to change!!! And it can't happen with religion mixing with politics period.
God bless the military industrial complex.
Nobody cares. Believe me, we vets know that.
God loves you and takes care of you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this great universe and has complete control over it. And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. The great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and then you have the choice to believe in it or not. I advise you on this now before you do not have time to do that.
Stop sending americas bravest overseas to be world police. We are a republic, not an empire. Our military is meant to protect the homeland. We don't need to send Americans to die in countries where different tribes can't work out their issues. The toll this takes on the families is intolerable. America first means allowing our troops to also have lives while they protect the homeland.
