I am from Iraq , But my family left Iraq in 1998 when I was 4 years old. In 2003 after the war my family decided to visit Iraq to see my grandparents. That was the only time I saw my country, it was just for 2 weeks. At that time we wanted to get to Iraq, it was difficult since there were no flights, so we went to the nearest country to Iraq which is Syria , and went to Iraq by a car , we were attacked at the Iraqi border between Iraq and Syria by American tank which had many soldiers.. and the car we were in was destroyed while we were inside . I was less than 10 that time , that scene is still engraved in my memory and I have never been to Iraq again.

You’re only powerful as long as you have a military force to hold your power. The Iraqi army controlled by Saddam fell quickly and Baghdad was captured around three weeks into the invasion. And he wasn’t really a popular guy, he was a brutal dictator that controlled Iraq with an iron fist. He didn’t have widespread support and friends to protect him like a Bin Laden did where he lived seemingly comfortably for a lot of the time he was in hiding.

It's sad that we lied ourselves into a war, out of justified anger and anguish of 9/11. So many innocent people, including children were killed/assaulted for this war. Sure. Saddam was a bad guy, but was it worth it? Forget the money, but all the innocent lives was avoidable. Nothing changed, it only got worse. And it opened my eyes, as someone who was 12 during 9/11. Really shapes how I view the world, and how at that time America was losing a lot of moral highground I once held for it, very quickly. Lots of horrific acts all in the name of fighting terrorism. A faceless enemy that gave us justification to enact terrible policy, lose our what privacy we had here in America, and a blank check to stay in perpetual war. I know war is highly complex, along with world politics. But there is no debating that Iraq was a terrrible mistake, that is stil affecting thousands if not milllions of families to this day. I understand that war is at times going to be inevitable, but this wasn't one of those times. And no American citizen should be okay with the government straight up lying to you in order to go into war, I don't care what political party they are. There need to be base line, common sense ideas and concepts we as a peoeple need to agree on, or this country will further degrade to the point of no return. I have already rambled enough, but if we took out all the deaths, the atrocities commited to people during this time in that region are absolutely despicable. Never let any politician on either side let exploit your fear, ignorance and anguish, because it never ends well.

Significant changes indeed took place, particularly in northern Iraq, now recognized as the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The Kurdish population achieved linguistic and cultural freedom, liberating themselves from the clutches of a dictator who sought to perpetrate genocide. Since then, the region has transformed into the most secure area in the Middle East, serving as a refuge for individuals of diverse religions and ethnicities. Moreover, it has emerged as a steadfast ally of the United States, playing a crucial role in rescuing Iraq from the threat of ISIS.

»The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias; And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa; And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias; And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias; And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias; And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon: And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel; And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor; And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud; And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob; And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of The Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of The Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.« (Gospel of Matthew - Chapter 1)

lot of soldiers can say this because theyre just that, foot soldiers. its easy to undermine the situation when all you know more about is the face situation and not the picture as a whole. To ask every soldier for their political insight is kind of silly. The battle scars are one thing, but the understanding why soldiers are moved are under another supervision. To a soldier 1 death doesnt justify 100. But in war, 1 death is just a cost in the battle plan. So, its always sad to hear so many soldiers dislike war and their experience, but lets not forget the cause and enemy, plus all the aid that resulted because of soldiers.

“Mistake” it was a terrorist OP perpetrated under false pretext of WMD. Killed a million! A MILLION! every OP is a lie in its history. EVERYONE! Every retaliation is in defence of their terrorism & war crimes and the avg sleeping American buys it because Arab blood is cheap, as long as they get to sleep better even if they know it’s fabricated. If there is an afterlife for any Americans complicit in it they can expect their reward there. Their silence today when they know by now what their government is capable of cost too many lives and their countries foreign policies is costing lives continuing till today. It is a duty on American people to stand up because it cost the taxpayer at the end of the day and even their soldiers and their families innocently thinking they are fighting the boogey man.

America ain't perfect but life is good if you live right. I used to be in a gang and I hate the law. But what America stands for is a good life for everyone. If you choose to break the law you deal with the consequences. It's not America it's the whole worlds thats the problem truthfully. Greed is all the world knows. Profit profit. Only when the people unite worldwide to start fresh will there be peace. And that will probably never happen. To many judgements in each other's eye.

It makes me furious seeing how history is being rewritten. Saddam was universally considered the Kim Jung Un of his time. The Iraqis themselves overwhelmingly disliked him. Infact a 2004 Gallup poll showed most of them thought the invasion was "worth it" for overthrowing Saddam. This new wave of appreciate for Saddam only came when things got really, really bad in Iraq, from about 2006 - 2007. He's lucky he died from hanging. If you threw him naked in the streets of Baghdad at this time, his fate would have been much, much worse.

The Iraqis loved us after Suddam was hung, he was chemically gassing innocent people, bringing them into wars nonstop since the 70s, and afghan could love us more, the only stability that country ever had, there’s a reason they were hanging onto planes dropping to there death so the taliban wouldn’t take over

We had to into Aghanistan to get bin-Laden and decimate al-Quada who were conducting more terrorist attacks. It had nothing to do with Aghanistan. Had Bush done what he was supposed which was get binLaden and leave nothing would have happened. Instead he invaded Iraq based on a lie. That's why the Mideast is a mess.
