There's a big connection with the phenomena of freeflight, humanity, history, art, poetry, mathematics, technology, physics, psychology, music, and craft, as such. That spirit is unnamed yet, maybe unable, but all recognize or feel it similarly and distinctly too. Art traditionally precedes outstanding breakthroughs in general consciousness, so NEW or ununknown, -able, that the artistic effort is to always express "it" anyway, artistically and hope the rest of it will be provided in time by the viewers. Here so too, with (manned) mechanical flight coming as close, (in every way) to humans flying freely, freer than all other (known) beings - at will.

The larger ships are much more gentle, yet react well to CG shifts. For the NB-3, if it's off a tad when changing motor size, she'll tell u by flying on the prop (nose up a bit) which happened a bit on the final flight. A few grams of clay or lead would fix that.

Hi friend, I call you friend because your accomplishment reminded me of when I constructed similar aircraft in the 1950’s. The satisfaction you feel flying you bird is what I felt, too. Ambroid glue colored Japanese tissue, balsa wood, a sharp razor blade, good plans and some clear dope were all we needed. What changed? Bigger planes with glow engines, a bell crank in the wing and two control cables to “up and down” as the plane raced around a circular path, while you, the pilot tried to maintain control without getting dizzy and falling. The came radio control that drew my attention. Bigger, heavier, noiser, does not mean more fun. At 75 years old I still fly R/C, planes, choppers and drone. There is a stir in me calling me back to free flight standing in a prairie watching my craft rise, challenge the wind and prove if I set the CG correct and if I had just the right trim on the rudder, ailerons and elevator. To non free flight people, they can’t understand our lingo and the rush of joy we get from the flight of a stick and tissue model plane. You have done a magnificent video that captures the little boy and the joy we modelers relish.

The NB-3 is truly a majestic flyer. The views from the cockpit via the 808 keychain cam were a nice touch. For some reason, when facing forward, the 808 video exhibits more 'jello' than the aft view, which seems very stable. Perhaps the lens is affected by the windstream when facing forward. Also nice to see the 'wind tube' you use to protect the model while packing in the turns. I can't imagine the damage that size rubber motor would do. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

It’s amazing to watch the horizontal stabilizer and bracing wires flutter in flight. Though I still can’t quite wrap my head around those upturned wingtips. They just look weird to me.
