Karl is so sweet to Vaughn & doesn't think just because he's gay, God won't throw him into Hades because he treats Frank & everybody so kind. 😢 Karl (Actor Billy Bob Thorton): I don't reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy. You been real square-dealin' with me. The Bible says two men ought not lay together. But I don't reckon the Good Lord would send anybody like you to Hades. That Frank, he lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in. You take good care of that boy. [walks off] Vaughan Cunningham ( Actor John Ritter): I will. Karl?

Yes he had an aortic aneurysm that dissected and is almost always fatal if not caught early. The emergency room missed the diagnosis and he was in good enough shape that they could have performed life saving surgery. I had a golf ball sized (ascending) aortic aneurysm that was only discovered during cancer treatment this year. Probably would have burst within in a year or two with no signs or symptoms. Had successful surgery to replace a section of my aorta and supposedly now at 61 can expect a normal life span, so my cancer actually saved my life.
