Just saw Jesus Christ Superstar on Sunday as it came through my area. Excellent!! First time seeing it live, but I have watched all of the available versions! The 1973 movie, 2000 version with Glenn Carter and Jerome Pradon, the live arena tour with Tim Minchin, and of course this version. :) Such a great show! I grew up with my Mom playing the album all of the time. :)

Amazing musical and fantastic voice of John Legend !

Glad that they’re dropping more pro shot clips for the 2018 version, seeing Gethsemane recently and now the Last Supper is great. Definitely one of the best performed songs to come out of this rendition, helps that its one of my favorite songs in the musical too

Oh really is he in it? I have heard his song "this time" about I believe 12 years ago..amazing and I even had a role in a stage performance of JCS. ..this is so good..what a performance by this man!

This iteration of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR stands superbly alongside other versions. The singing, stage setting, choreography, scene and costume design are awesome. It is not in competition with other versions of this classic, it does not seek to imitate other versions, it stands beside ALL the great versions, ALL the great performers. Do not compare. Do not criticize. Absorb this version for what it is,a new, fresh interpretation. We can enjoy them all without tearing any of them down. I love all the versions I have seen! One does not diminish the other.

John Legend was a terrible miscast, couldn't be worse! Check out "The Passion" from New Orleans 2016 (here on KZread in full length and as individual clips). Jencarlos Canela played Jesus so vulnerable and touching that viewers and cast were in tears. Jencarlos Canela is unsurpassed as an artist in singing and acting! This live performance in New Orleans better and more touching than any production of "Jesus Christ Superstar.

Ok, now, let’s not be mean towards John Legend; rune has it, he wasn’t comfortable w all the sharps & flats he was required to sing. It was actually his salvation to perform the songs w in his own vocal range! But he’s the one that was chosen for this role!

Nope. His singing was very good. But he's a horrible actor. He reacted to nothing and never understood the emotionality of anything. Not interacting with your fellow actors is pretty selfish.

Not quite. We are called to BE angels to others, and by that I mean examples of affirmation and healing, not hypocritical judgment and shaming. If you are trying to "find" Angels then you will fall under the spell of charlatans and demagogues who masquerade as devout Christians.

oh, I didn't know Legend also did broadway. great performance and dynamic between him and the Judas character. bravo!

You idolize sin. You reject grace, you seek false excuses to judge, and you project your own sin upon people that you don't know. Meanwhile, you are impenitent of your own sins which we see right here.

Let me just say this before everyone here gets bothered. John Legend is an incredible talent and he deserves all the accolades that he earns. But in this, he just plain sucked

I dont love John Legend s singing, but his acting is much more compelling than Ted for me, his eyes convey much more pride and safety, as I think the said son of God should have. This is an amazing act.

Can you imagine that in this century, the wine is only poison? With chemicals in it that break down your braincells with every glass?

John legend is a good singer but a very bad choice for JCS, it’s like casting a young Dolly Parton as Mary Magdalene

John Legend is a great singer but he’s so emotionless in this. Not a very good actor.

Hoped for better honestly, This is average compared to Anderson and Neely, whish it was not. Still maybe I expected too much from some who were already famous, it's not bad but average. Saw the originals perform it in person was great, Judas and Christ at least. The scenes with others didn't do as well as this does with the minor characters, still for me the film will be the gold standard until someone takes the crown.

john legend completely ruined this production. Hellen Keller can see this and she's dead.

You are delusional here. There are no weaponless countries. And you hate the religious freedom as a Christian that you can only enjoy in a democracy.

There is only one God and that is Allah, beside Him you find no one who can benefit or harm. He is above His creation, and you won't find any one similar to Him. He had made some of us poor without no fault of theirs, and some rich. He had made some of us beautiful without asking of Him, and some no fault of theirs. All that to test us, to see which one of us will show gratitude and patience. Those who humble themselves God Almighty will show them mercy and love, and He will raise them from our ranks. Those who turn their backs on Him, He will turn His back on them on a great Day, and they will not find no helpers besides Him. Both of His hands are right! Both of His hands are generous!, one on the left, the other on the right, while Both His hands are right. No one knows more about God Almighty except His chosen servants. May God Almighty make us those who accept truth when they see it, and those who reject falsehood when they hear of it.
