@@Akuretaki_Nikolay originally ps3, xbox 360, pc, and 3ds version is pretty different from those. xbox 360 version became backwards compatible for xbox one some years later.

It's a little bittersweet in all honesty. But the fact that one of the last "official" races is archived makes me happy.

I spent 3 hours matchmaking but nobody was playing... Then it shut down. Thank you for playing the game. It is my whole childhood! Thankfully, Pretendo will give us the opportunity to play online again! I made sure to dump the game there!

Awesome that somebody documented the last match on this haha. I played this once but it was super laggy. I'm pretty sure lost world 3DS had online multiplayer as well. The DS and 3DS sonic games are the best😅

I had plans to document this for two-three months as I cover obscure content on my channel which you should check out, though most of it is Mega Man focused.

Fun is infinite with Sega. Genesis do what Nintendon’t.

Indeed, the message is very aggressive for a "force quit" screen ;-;. I can imagine all of the Splatoon forced disconnects with the "check yo wifi!" screen XD.

Btw, I believe there is a Classic Sonic tech I discovered long ago on this version: if you spin attack then jump, you go quite fast, and you can do so over and over to get faster and faster

Same but for Mario Kart 7 and Sm4sh 3ds however I had work that day and I was stocking up trash at a high school I work at when the servers shutdown for good

3 things. 1) R.I.P. to a amazing 3DS classic. 2) Awesome final match between the two of you! 3) Okay seriously, so after watching the end of the video several times, is nobody gunna talk about the fact that this guy actually finished in first place and, for whatever reason, STILL WAS DECLARED THE LOSER? I mean, I can't possibly be the only one who noticed that... right??? Or could this video be from the perspective of the opponent???

I've noticed that I seemingly won after someone else pointed that out. I theorize that I was disconnected in the middle in the match which is why I "lost". I also received a "player quit the round" message after relaunching the game.

I was just thinking about this game (the 3ds version in particular) and how funny it would be if I played the online for it as my last online game. Small world

I never really liked this game, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel something watching this

I don’t know why but it’s oddly beautiful hearing emerald coast play during the last official online match. It just fits so well.

Tropical Resort was hard to get the S rank because you had to know exactly where to go with the burst wisp. Act 2 is easier if you know how to perform the rail skips.

If you're interested, I've seen Japanese 3DSes for 60 bucks on ebay, good quality too. You can even region swap it to have an American OS with English and all that. All for free besides the 3ds itself. You do have to homebrew it before you do that though.

Brings a smile to my face that this port wasnt forgotten, it was a fun sonic game, the exclusive content really kicked ass lol, spent hours playing this version because i didnt have an xbox. (Kid me thought the profile card was really cool for some reason) Always loved the online mode, thanks for recording its final moments!

Miss the times when handhelds had exclusive spin off versions of the big main games. The 3DS Generations version really fullfilled the Generations handheld itch and even had exclusive worlds. Was pretty much like an expansion to the main game. A thing that sadly died with the Switch since now we get the same games just with less graphic details. Imagine a exclusive Sonic Frontiers with 2D classic like stages on handheld or whatever.

I know Sonic Generations 3DS is the black sheep, but the best thing without a about are its exclusive remixes to Big Arms and Radical Highway (and to an lesser extent Biolizard), of which people still listening and jamming to today.

The game just calling you a loser is really funny to me. Because i'm sure there's no maloce behind it, but it still just comes out if nowjere. Like another comment said it feels personal

I didn't even know this game existed. Kinda makes me think of how i had sonic colors on the ds when i was young and I had no idea there was a much bigger version.

Man..gotta pour one out for the 3ds, it has been..a trip. Loads of good games, fun times online..even if that 3d slider was a bit disorienting to play with it on, the system was still a _blast_ to play! Here's to a good system. 🍺

i wish i could've joined for this occasion, but my 3ds broke later last year

I should've tried this with _Final Fantasy Explorers._ I bet _nobody_ was playing _that_ game in its final hour.

When the servers were able to shit down, I managed to play Mario Kart 7 and Super Smash Bros. for the last time. I even got some footage, but the quality is poor since I was using my phone. I tried to play Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon multiplayer only to realize that I needed to make story progression for it to become available. Unfortunately, I just didn't bother with any other game's multiplayer, so I missed out on both this game but also Sonic Lost World's multiplayer, which is a shame.

Hi Max! Yes this was a very obscure mode exclusive to the 3DS version. You also were able to earn points and exclusive badges through this mode. Miis were also utilized for a “sonic fan exchange card system”.

Oh man I should’ve tried to play this on the final day. I just played mk7 and my last race was on that game’s rainbow road. Sonic Generations was my first 3ds game and I played it soooooo much. I should’ve at least tried it 😔 I’m surprised you caught up near the end! This is a cool last level to play on. Also I didn’t know you could get hit by the orca on this map.

i was begging for the last match of sonic lost world but it never happened and im still sad about it 😔

I'm glad the game picked Emerald Coast. It would have been a bummer if the final race ended up taking place on Green Hill Act 1, which has level design that is ripped straight out of Sonic 1. Emerald Coast may not have the greatest level design, but it is at least a Gens 3DS original.

There was four or five other rounds. I played Green Hill act 2 and won, but lost on everything else even after pulling off the Water Palace act 2 glitch XD

As someone who's only played the Xbox 360 version I will say this version isn't bad for a 3DS title and I understand the sadness for those who did grow up with this version rather than the 360 version
