Why is this such high quality?! This came out before series 4 which still has the vaseline smeared on the lens look. I wonder why they brought HD to Torchwood before Doctor Who. Or am I being thick?

They did - Torchwood was HD from the start whereas DW didn't get it until Planet of the Dead (special after series 4)

Wasn’t it to do with the fact the Tardis set wasn’t HD ready, it was a bit rough and ready, ok for sd.

Torchwood required a lot less CGI compared to Doctor Who, so it was cheaper to shoot it in HD.

@@jessica-mh3os It's noticeable how new they were to HD in the first few episodes produced for Series 1. They shot everything at 360° shutter rather than the 180° that filmic productions use. That's why Series 1 can have a very video-like motion-blurry look.

It's the hospital in Caerleon, just near Newport (5 minutes away from the former uni campus where they filmed Sex Education). It was used for Being Human as well!

I'm currently rewatching Torchwood and I watched this episode 2 days ago and wow bringing back so many memories ❤ I really hope it comes back to TV 😊
