    Just finished complete rebuild of my 1991 FXRS Low Rider Custom. Slight rake, 10-1 Wiseco, Andrews EV59, ported and polished heads, S&S Super E stage 1 and Vance and Hines Pro pipe. Have had many Harleys and other makes. FAVORITE bike EVER

    I had an 89. Big brakes, proper suspension, cam and carb, 5 gallon tanks etc. Took me all over Europe. Im an old Triumph and Guzzi guy, but i have to say that was possibly the best bike i ever owned. Friend has it now, stock cases cracked, in storage needs new aftermarket c/cases. One thing that makes an FXR look soooo much better is replacing the ugly stock sidepanels with Arlen Ness versions IMO. Nice bike, dig the bikini fairing. Best big twin Harley made in the last 35 years.

    Since Kaplan America sell so many FXRs it might be wise to buy up the last run of Solenberg (Delkron) transmission cases and inner primary covers. Anyone else who builds them should grab while the grabbing is still possible as the Evo speed parts market fades like the Shovelhead market before it. I have two Delkron inners and ordered more for spares, and bought one trans case. They are as good as the great original Delkron parts but Solenberg kind of suck at advertising so many don't know about them.

    Not many people realize that the motor company made Evo powered FXR's up to 2000. They were numbered FXR2 thru FXR4 and were CVO models ONLY. If I was in the market for a desirable FXR I'd chose the FXR4. They're loaded with all kinds of goodies and chromed out, the paint schemes are nice too. The rarest FXR out there is the one year only 1986 FXRD. They're as rare as hen's teeth, if you were to consider buying one you might consider finding one unmolested with EVERYTHING otherwise you're gonna pay BIG bucks for any OEM stuff (if you can find it).

    True, the cvo fxr's came loaded with over $11,000.00 Of harley accessories, The only thing I don't like about them is the short fox shocks, They don't handle as well as the 13 in shocks in their to stiff, I have owned 2 of the green FXR threes

    2022 fxbb 114 @ $19 000 will eat this bike, all day long! More HP, better brakes, better ground clearance, better lighting, the motor and trans are integral in the chassis creating a way stiffer platform than the fxr. Its like comparing an 1989 Iroc z with and Ls transplant to a new z28...there is zero comparisons. Unless your an old gear head, stuck in the past of the glory days...Motorcycles were meant to ride and tour on, not be polished sitting in the garage reflecting on 25 years ago...Nice OLD BIKE THOUGH!

    Harley's new FL Softail beats out the FXR. I mean it's about damn time they finally made a frame that beat it. The new Fat Bob, and Low Rider are amazing bikes in terms of handling and performance. This bike is still kick ass though.

  • @linuxpro747

    @linuxpro747

    5 жыл бұрын

    I tend to agree. I had the Fat Bob S, and after installing an Andrews cam, it was an absolute beast. I think it's one of the best stock bikes Harley has ever made - with beefy inverted front forks, dual disks and calipers that will actually stop you, a modern rear monoshock design that is an absolute pleasure to ride through ANYTHING, lighting that actually works (and works extremely well), etc. I rode that thing like I stole it, and it was AWESOME. It actually convinced one of my sport bike friends to buy his first Harley. I find it a little hard to take the "purists" seriously when they tell me their bikes with garbage 1920's-era suspension designs (seriously, dual rear shocks? GTFO) and a small motor is a sportier or more durable bike than the new Softails. Clearly, they haven't ridden one, and definitely not one with a cam. I've ridden an FXR and there is no comparison to the new Softail design (especially the Fat Bob S) when it comes to sporty performance. Riding the Fat Bob S is a revolution, and it might just save Harley's ass, considering that very few bikers under 40 years of age take Harley seriously as a performance platform. Don't get me wrong, the FXR in this video is badass as hell, and an excellent build - so I'm not knocking it. The FXR is an awesome platform. But it had its critics back in the day and still does, for many of the same reasons people criticize the new Softail platform. Harley has to ignore the "purists" - they have held the company back for too long. I can't wait to see a new FXR built on the Softail platform, and hope Harley does it. Anyway, sorry for blabbing... great video and I hope I see that bike in person some day, it is a work of art. LOVE IT.

    like the old harley riders say " if i have to explain you will not u derstand" so i dont expect an intelligent response...but here's the FACTS; this classic harley FXR ( not Frx) is going up in value every day and empties out clubhouses and bars every time it is parked because it is one in a million...no one will give your bike a second look at daytona or any big rally because new lowriders are a dime a dozen, your 2019 lowrider was made in taiwan, its a softail and will be worth half what you paid for it in 5 years, you just flushed $12,500.00 down the toilet for starters, i hope it was worth it for you, in 5 years this FXR will be worth 3-5k more than it sold for and is an asset, not a liability, you will also pay a LOT more in insurance and property taxes over the next 5 years, probably ANOTHER $5,000.00 more! so thats around $17,500.00 Flushed and gone forever, sure the new softail might be faster, better brakes, etc. but who cares? a $4,000 Yamaha 600 is Faster than any new Harley with better brakes and more reliable, if I want faster, buy a jap bike for pennies on the dollar, finally Old Harley's are cool and a blast to ride!
