Harry Kane became the most expensive player in Bayern Munich’s history, when he moved from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023. Although the move wasn’t a great surprise by the time it was finally completed it had survived meddling executives, prankster journalists and a dramatic late crisis.
Charlie Eccleshare explains, Craig Silcock illustrates.

Florentino Perez was tired of dealing with Daniel Levy. Who is a very difficult person to deal with. Both Modric and Bale arrived late to miss preseason training. All thanks to Daniel Levi antics. Clubs when they negotiate transfers, prefer to close deals early. So the player can join the team for preseason training. Levy being Levy prefers to drag negotiations longer than necessary. This delays often disrupt the clubs preparations for the season. Like for ex: Kane missing the German SuperCup for Bayern. Because the transfer deal was closed very late. If Daniel Levy wants 100mil for Kane. Just say pay me a 100mil and we close the deal. But nope I’ll drag the negotiations longer than necessary because I am Daniel Levy.

The fix fee is less than 100m Euros, as Hoeness stated. Only add-ons can make the fee higher than 100m. The fee mentioned in the video is therefore misleading. This sadly fits with the narrative of English media trying to portray Levy and his negotiation skills as stronger than they are.
