We could have had any bike, but chose the KLR. That either makes us incredibly wise or incredibly stupid. The answer varies day by day, and ride by ride.

I'll basically never use everything my 08' KLR can give, but I feel very secure in knowing that it will never leave me stranded, and maintenance is cheap and a breeze to do, unlike my ex R1200gs or V-strom

KLR650 is jack-of-all-trades master of none. It does have a very comfortable riding position, maybe the best. I have 6 bikes, KLR definitely gets the most ride time.

Great video. Had a 2002 KLR which I really enjoyed. One of the best things about the KLR is the quality of tech info available online from other owners. It is fantastic!

Awesome video mate. It's A bit like the DR650. If you have to ask why, you don't get it and it's not the bike for you. I reckon I'd like to grab one to run alongside my ST1300.. FYI Rod, I ended up with a set of those helibars I saw on your ST1300 videos. Not to everyone's tastes but, due to a neck injury, I now have a bike set up for 1200km days. Perfect . 😁

If I had the Patience to do stuffsss on my KLR like you. Life would be awesome!... I have a 2011 KLR showroom condition Sergeant seat Lexx MX exhaust. luv it! I just turned on 10,000 worried about my chain tensioner. Now I just have to find someone that's capable of doing it, not me. Thanks you for the vids.

Ninja 250 production moved to Thailand in 2005 with the EX250F and never stopped. Ninja 250, 300, and 400 are all the same production line (same exact bike with regional configuration differences). Ninja 300 EX300A/B is EX250L/M in some markets. Ninja 400 EX400A/B is EX250P in some markets. If someone indicated that canceling the KLR 650 freed up production for one of those other models, they’re straight up wrong.

The move to Thailand for the EX250 series was not to “relaunch” the Ninja 250 for Asia or for the Ninja 400. Again: They never stopped producing the 250 there. They started out making the 1988-2007 model in 2005 and we got the 2008-2012 EX250J/K refresh they were making it start to finish. They made the 2013-2017 EX300A/B Ninja 300 as well as the EX250L/M counterpart. They made the 2018-2023 EX400A/B as well as the EX250P/? counterparts. I don’t know what models they will assign to the 2024 Ninja 250 version of the new 2024 Ninja 500 but they are still the same bike. Look at the engine like it was any other regional difference, like the 2008 Ninja 250 with a “city light” and a switched headlight in some regions or fuel injection in others.
