The Last Funeral Was The Owners | Abandoned Funeral Home
Фильм және анимация
In today’s video we will be taking you inside an abandoned funeral home that left everything behind. The funeral home, which was located in the southern United States, originally opened its doors in the early 1960’s and the funeral business was run from the first floor of large building with other retail surrounding it, which was a unique set up.
The funeral home was owned and operated by the patriarch of the family, who successfully ran the business for years before he retired and handed the funeral home down to his son. The son then successfully operated the funeral home for another 30 years before he eventually became too ill and had to temporarily close the funeral home. Unfortunately, his health did not improve and he ultimately passed away. When the son passed away, his family decided to use the funeral home one more time for their beloved family member to celebrate his life and accomplishments. The funeral home held the sons memorial service in 2018 and was permanently closed right after. It has sat abandoned ever since.
The best part of this explore was that since the funeral home was originally only supposed to be closed “temporarily” but ended up closing permanently, it seems that they literally got up, left everything as it was, locked the doors, and never returned. This funeral home had it all….and when we say all, we mean ALL!!!
First off, they left the embalming room completely intact with all the embalming tools, equipment, and supplies. There was makeup, styrofoam heads, formaldehyde, artery fluid, skin compound, tissue builder, gurneys, a body lift, and of course the porcelain slab.
The second part of the explore was the chapel with all the chairs set up for a memorial service, maybe even from the owner’s own memorial service. At the front of the chapel there was a casket on display, making this chapel a great and also creepy room to photograph and explore.
Next there was a room with several old embalming tables, multiple catafalques which are casket holders, and most shockingly there was several boxes of real human cremains, complete with names and death certificates.
The last memorable part of the explore was the garage, where we found three different black Cadillac hearses, all of which had not been touched in years. The best one was the classic early 1960’s hearse, but there was also one from the 1980’s and then another one from the early 2000’s. It is not everyday that we get to explore a funeral home with three hearses, in addition to everything else that was left behind. And because of this reason, the funeral home will go down in the books as one of the best abandoned funeral homes that we have ever explored. We hope that you all feel the same way.

Great video! That nasty looking device on the embalming table is called a trocar. It is connected to a suction source and is employed to suck out all the solids and liquids in the abdominal cavity. The gurneys are normally referred to as mortuary cots. The stands on which the caskets are placed are known as biers or catafalques. The wheelie folding device usually kept in the hearse is called a church truck. Those caskets without liners are called ceremonial caskets, or rental caskets. (you can see the foot end is hinged down). The deceased is lain in an inner liner, which is then taken to the crematorium, the outer shell is re used many times.
It's sad to see abandoned privately owned FH's sit for years. Very few people are cut out to work in this industry. A bank will eventually make the decision to salvage everything & bulldoze the building. The hearses will probably go to auction or the junk yard. Abandoned cremated remains is a common practice. Families must pay up front for direct cremations & are contacted repeatedly by the FH's when they come from crematories-but they're ghosted. Some families don't make plans for disposition of cremated remains, so they will ignore all attempts at contacting them, & the cremated remains are shelved for years. When the bank takes over, the cremated remains will be taken to the medical examiner-coroner for disposition that will probably be commingled burial in a community grave with the cremated remains of the indigent. The vacant lot will sit for years until a developer buys it. Who knows? It could be a KFC or Burger King in 10 years.

There are some goths that would love those hearses!
The hearse and limos I would definitely buy them and restore them. And sell them to local funeral homes
Nice Find!
The abandoned human remains breaks my heart. That was so sad for them to be left behind.
Those clear plastic clothes hanging near the metal gurney are to dress the deceased in before putting on clothes over the top. They catch any body leaks. If you ever go to a viewing and touch someone’s arm you can sometimes hear the plastic move.
Water heater in the same room with formaldehyde.... Nice
how come they closed it down? thanks for the funeral home tour again 👍⛩
Wouldn't mind living there. Would make a really good Halloween place
Especially seeing cremains still there.... loved ones ashes...omg!😮
Nossa corajoso 😞😞😞😞

Yes
How come families of those departed, haven't been given their loved ones remains?
So sad there's still people's remains there..
It's sad the the cremains are left unclaimed......but all too common. I don't think there's a funeral home in business that doesn't have at least a couple of unclaimed cremains.....it happens more often than you think.....no next of kin or friends.....some funeral homes have a special deal with a local cemetery to bury the unclaimed in a section just for them. Giving them a dignified final disposition.
Hypodermic embalming is a supplemental method which refers to the injection of embalming chemicals into tissue with a hypodermic needle and syringe, which is generally used as needed on a case-by-case basis to treat areas where arterial fluid has not been successfully distributed during the main arterial injection.
I'd make a hotrod outta one of those hearses.
And now all of a sudden I want to visit a mortuary museum, or The National Museum of Funeral History.
The former Bythewood Funeral of Orangeburg, SC
I believe the plastic garment hanging at 6:56 is a union suit they put on autopsied bodies to prevent leaking. I could be wrong but it looks like one.
Do you ever get the creeps from those places? Or hear creepy stuff? Ugh I could never go in those places.
Oh no that bag and box full of creamains 😞 🙏🕯️where are the family members?so sad😔
It's sick for someone not to notify the family of those cremains
I actually thought you said polystyrene embalming slab before you put your light on. Then it became the head rest that was polystyrene 🤣 Beautiful Hearses imagine them being done up. So sad seeing the remains RIP 🥀 Surely love ones must know they died and they're not buried 🤔 Very strange in my opinion 🤔 Great video but a very sad outcome 🥀
Where is this at?
Wow! I can't believe they left the keys, and that hearse was still there! In death, comes life. It was very sweet to see the bird eggs. 💜 I'm a big fan of these videos, even if dying scares me. Death doesn't. Great work like normal!
I hope you called the authorities and reported the cremains you found. They should be returned to their families.
I still believe authorities should be notified that the ashes and documentation are still there. They should send a team into sorting it out. I think by the look of some of the rooms the family may have put things out as a display and that's why the note was there to say look but don't take anything It may be away the family has decided to allow the processes and things that they used since usually it's close guarded. In some countries or states.
The cremation remains damn. 😵💫😵💫😲😥
The embalming process is not required by law and is only done to preserve body for viewing? I left instructions my service is private grave side so no embalming me, and it saves a ton of money? What fluids and waste I die with I am buried with like when I was born?
Keep on smacking the likes, let's help out this great channel! Sneak in a comment and a share, too. 😉😉
The cremation remains may not necessarily be left behind. I work in the funeral home and just as a person that is alive has rights so does someone that is dead. If someone is cremated and the family never claims that then by law the funeral home cannot dispose of them.
I hope you report it to proper authority so they can get the remains to the families
Too bad they left those beautiful cars behind it's sad 😢

Story about the parlor of Massachusetts
It sickens me that people are left behind and forgotten about like they mean nothing when actually they have a family they have friends they have loved ones and pets also the very dangerous chemicals for example formaldehyde and the other dangerous chemicals imagine children gaining access to this FH and thinking this is a joke and showing if to their friends this stuff will kill you
That room is definitely a Old school room
What happens in the embalming room stays in the embalming room😂 Wow,yet Another abandoned funeral home. Does the bird nest come included or is that extra😹🐦
I am watching from Elmira NY people could claim the hearses. They can get abandoned vehicle titles
Where is this located
So sad to see all those Cremated remains left there. 😢

Yes it is a sad sight whenever we find them.
Like I said it's not there fault that there not so loved ones didn't pick them up!
What happened?
Why would some lock the key in the Herst
@Cheyenne894
5 ай бұрын
Maybe so the key would never get lost, and the person who locked it had a spare.
You should contact somebody anonymously about the cremains.
The big question is: will a Cadillac hearse, left to sit for 8 years, start?
It’s so sad that no one wanted to claim their family members. Do you contact the proper authorities?

Who could they contact after the funeral home closed?
Yhe keys are in the hearse in itnition u can drive off in it
Keys sre still in hearse😊
Don't start telling everybody that there's embalming fluid everywhere... That's the same thing as PCP. If you make it known on the internet that place is bound to get broken into for the wrong reasons...
A lot of evidence of criminal negligence with those embalming remains.
Is there a way to message you directly??

Hey shouting out from Trinidad in the Caribbean everybody now a days are doing cremation very popular in the island i don't want to be cremated simply because the family not all don't go back and collect the love one ashes it's sad but it's true i have heard many stories to me that's not right furnaral home calling you to come and pick up they just can't be borderd with it it's no surprise when they get shot down then you see all of the shit that has been going on for years bury me in my plot in the islands you can use a plot over and over it so happen that mines only have woman alone in it and that suits me just fine 🙌
The crazy part is a lot of that dust has to be human remains
Not sure what year this was but that copy he showed was 2001. I'm posting in 2023, so who pays the light bill there?
6:37 the monster Gurnee would have been used as a dressing table. The body would be laying on the table as they would dress them.
I wonder why the family didn't say least try to give those ppls remains to their family's... Why just leave them to the elements ..
What happens after you show your videos with cremated remains? Do the authorities come in and collect them and give them to the family members?
