When my mother was cremated, she had a pacemaker. It was given back to me. The University of Michigan wanted it. They sent me a FedEx envelope. I sent it to them. They recalibrate it, and gave it to someone else. It is very costly...22k. Someone who couldn't afford it got it for free! Wow! Amazing.

Oh my! I’m on my second Pacemaker! I have Heart Failure of the Muscle! Second one has the defibrillator on it! That’s not right our insurance paid for that! I know they must be very expensive! The paperwork for my first one I guess it was because it was an emergency I was in Trauma all night then they had to get it in fast when they got me to the Heart Institute of the hospital because I was getting worse! That one without the price of the Pacemaker was over a Million $ The second one was over 300 Thousand! Thank God I have Medicare!

I have to say that it constantly bewilders me the cost of treatment in the US - in this case, a pacemaker. No doubt Americans know that we pay through our taxes on earnings for any medical attention. It stops there. My neighbour had recently had a pacemaker installed, and the cost of that was zero. There would be follow-ups, and perhaps a replacement pacemaker installed at a later date. All that would also be zero in cost. I simply don't know how people cope financially, even with insurance. Robert, UK.

I worked in a funeral home for 8 years. Most deaths happen at the conclusion of a long and well lived life. There was only one funeral that really got me (still to this day when I think about it).It was a young mother whose children and husband spent about 90 minutes viewing her in the church after the funeral and they couldn't let go or say goodbye. All of their family and friends were waiting in the parking lot for the procession to the cemetery. There was a huge display of roses that said "MOMMY" on the ribbon. 😥 At another, a single father had died and his two young children and his parents walked up the aisle of a cathedral holding the casket. That was tough but instead of hiding the kids they let them participate and they'll always remember that they were there for their dad to the very end.

I was told that too and the funeral parlous refused...They soaked me for almost 10K to cremate my dad in 2016...I paid roughly the same for my mum who was buried in 2003. I got taken advantage of....and was too out of it emotionally to protest and fight back.

My mom was cremated in a funeral home I think. I heard it was cheaper and better to get cremated rather than burial. My dad and I still have my mom’s ashes in an urn in a cupboard. We plan to put my mom’s ashes in our churches columbarium that we bought not too long ago.

There is no way I could witness my son’s cremation. We spent a week saying goodbyes. He donated organs saving five lives after taken off life support. The crematory was excellent and quite impressive. The people were professional and caring.

My father was cremated, but me and all my siblings watched him take his last breath in Hospice. I miss him so much he departed this earth at the age of 75 from stage 4 cancer. His ashes was poured into the ocean. Those was his wishes, we all honored them.

My dad was a trucker and so am I. Dad loved trucking very much so after his cremation dads urn is here is this peterbilt truck because we have also ran team together (2 truckers one truck 24/7) as father and son. Dad was retired and our last lunch together was in a 2017 peterbilt where he said he wished he was still trucking down the road so in my heart I feel that he is loving trucking again. Call me sentimental but dad STILL has his own key because old truckers don't die they just downshift. His name is Eugene Vern Willison and he was one of the best with approximately 3 million miles. R.I.P. dad and please save me a parking stall at the truck stop in heaven. ❤

When my mom passed in the hospital my sister and I were standing on a small balcony outside where her room was! They were attempting to take her off the ventilator and putting in a trakeiotompy! All of a sudden we felt a big gust of wind and both of us felt something touch us hard! We knew she had passed and that was her soul!

@@tinabailey3170 I know my mom did that to show us that “Yes” your soul leaves the body!My family and I moved in with my dad after she passed! I was home alone and the front door opened! I waited a few seconds and walked to the front door it was locked! I walked in to the kitchen and I just could feel a presence I turned it was my mom with a robe she wore to dye her hair! It wasn’t a solid form of her is was like you see in the movies when someone that is dead appears! She also called me on the phone said my name and then her voice faded away! Sorry to tell you my story but I felt you would believe me!

I spent what was the saddest day of my life with my wife of 60 years before she was created and I was with her for her last four hours. God bless all of you

My wife and I are going through this process with her dad. He passed on Dec 22nd and will be cremated in the coming days. I am so glad I came across this video. Thank you for taking the time to explain the process.

My condolences to you and your family. My 40 yr old daughter died on Christmas and we had her cremated in January. We had a memorial service on Jan 19. In between time her son wanted to see the body so we went. (I was there when she passed in the hospital) I thought after the service it would be real to me but it still isn’t. She was in the hospital on and off for 3 years so it feels the same at the house. I don’t think that I could watch this process it’s would be too hard. (My daughter had open heart surgery and a hip replacement, she had bots and plates where her pelvis was shattered)

We are in the process of deciding weather we will inter both my in-laws or wait. When my wife's grandad passed he left to 2 plots. My father in-law didn't do the paperwork to get them in his name. My 36 yo daughter was cremated a few days ago. The people operating the crematorium were very professional and caring. Due to covid restrictions here in Australia, I was unable to travel to be there for her. I know she was in good hands. It is interesting to know the general procedures involved. Where my husband was cremated they gave us a choice to stay but I couldn't because it was hard enough with his passing. Picking up his ashes made it real that he was gone. I give these people so much credit for what they do. I just couldn't work for a funeral company

I was present for my mom's cremation and found it to be a very hard experience. She was placed in front of the glass for last farewell. Then saw her go into the chamber. Mom was so petite her urn was ready in 2 1/2 hours. She lives in my heart always!

My granny was cremated On Tuesday June 27 2023, I love you Granny. You were a big part of my life. Myself and my family will always remember you and have love for you. My baby daughter who is married with four small children just graduated in November to be a funeral director Etc I came across these videos accidentally and decided to watch them even though I already knew what was going to happen I couldn't help myself she doesn't have a clue how proud I am of her because she washer and her mind that I expected her to be a nurse or something in the health field because I always was, nothing made me happier than to helped an elderly or sick person. I only wish I could truly make her understand how proud I am of her because I know this type of work cannot possibly be easy her grandpa, my dad died in our home I was up all night long with him and at the very end ran around the entire house waking everybody up so they could be with him at his last breath little did I know that when she grew up her mission in life was to make sure that the deceased received the decent and proper treatment she felt they and their family deserved. So I think we should all be thankful for these type of people that have the Inner Strength to do whatever it is they have to do to make that person's family feel better! Thank you Katie for being Who and what You Are to the world!

In 1978 our 3 year old son died of leukemia. We had his body cremated. In those days they didn’t allow anyone to stay. I’m very thankful that they did make an exception and allowed my husband and I stay. I was very thankful for that.

@@robertgreen9980 pretty sure the average one that the public never sees is fairly industrial looking and not all shiny. Think warehouse with industrial ovens that have been used thousands of times over the years. A quick youtube search will show an example of it.

I was in a four car freeway crash. A 26 year old mom died while I stood next to her. The moment she stopped breathing I felt such a calm loving warm sensation. The sky opened up and I felt angels with beautiful bright warm colors from the sky with a wonderful feeling of love. I have never felt that again and will always have the experience with me

I don't like the thought of your body being burned after you die. Both of my parents were buried naturally in a cemetery. I wish that the same would be as me. I just can't be reconciled to the fact that I probably won't be buried naturally because I can't afford a natural burial.

I attended both my father's and mother's cremation, start to finish. It was the least I could do for the people who gave me life. Thank you very much for explaining the cremation process so thoroughly. While I knew what was going to happen to them both, it's still comforting to know that the people who take care of their remains extend an extreme amount of respect.

I lost my youngest son, 24, in 2018. He was to date, the first family member of our family (a BIG family) to ever be cremated. It was strange and it was of course devastating. But I want anyone to know that if you ever questioned this process or found yourself hesitant...It was the best decision I believe that we could have made. One thing I have realized as time has passed, is that I have my son with me at all times. Some of my closest family members, my mother, granddad, and grandma etc. are buried at a local cemetery where I live. At first visitation and personal familial care of the burial sites was of utmost priority. Now, few make it there any longer. I go when I am in town to see them and just inspect the burial site for damage or any needs that are required. But it was not long after losing my mom that I found myself standing there at her gravesite with nothing much to do or say. I knew she was not there, she was with the Lord, and in that I rejoiced! So what does one actually do during that visit? I can only speak for myself. In comparison having my baby boy in my living room. ANd some of his very personal things? just means so much more to me. and if I move? he comes with us. Just my thoughts on a difficult time in all of our lives but hope that something I said may help.

Spirit World The postmortal spirit world is a place where the spirits of those who have died live before the Resurrection. The spirit world consists of paradise, where the righteous dwell, and spirit prison, where those who were wicked in mortality dwell. President Brigham Young taught that the postmortal spirit world is on the earth, around us (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young [1997], 279). Spirit beings have the same bodily form as mortals except that the spirit body is in perfect form (see Ether 3:16). Spirits carry with them from earth their attitudes of devotion or antagonism toward things of righteousness (see Alma 34:34). They have the same appetites and desires that they had when they lived on earth. All spirits are in adult form. They were adults before their mortal existence, and they are in adult form after death, even if they die as infants or children (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 131-32). The prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon taught about two divisions or states in the spirit world. Paradise. According to the prophet Alma, the righteous spirits rest from earthly care and sorrow. Nevertheless, they are occupied in doing the work of the Lord. President Joseph F. Smith saw in a vision that immediately after Jesus Christ was crucified, He visited the righteous in the spirit world. He appointed messengers, gave them power and authority, and commissioned them to “carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to all the spirits of men” (Doctrine and Covenants 138:30). The Church is organized in the spirit world, and priesthood holders continue their responsibilities there (see Doctrine and Covenants 138:30). President Wilford Woodruff taught: “The same Priesthood exists on the other side of the veil. … Every Apostle, every Seventy, every Elder, etc., who has died in the faith as soon as he passes to the other side of the veil, enters into the work of the ministry” (Deseret News, Jan. 25, 1882, 818). Family relationships are also important. President Jedediah M. Grant, a counselor to Brigham Young, saw the spirit world and described to Heber C. Kimball the organization that exists there: “He said that the people he there saw were organized in family capacities. … He said, ‘When I looked at families, there was a deficiency in some, … for I saw families that would not be permitted to come and dwell together, because they had not honored their calling here’” (Deseret News, Dec. 10, 1856, 316-17). Spirit Prison. The Apostle Peter referred to the postmortal spirit world as a prison, which it is for some (see 1 Peter 3:18-20). In the spirit prison are the spirits of those who have not yet received the gospel of Jesus Christ. These spirits have agency and may be enticed by both good and evil. The spirits may progress as they learn gospel principles and live in accordance with them. The spirits in paradise can teach the spirits in prison (see Doctrine and Covenants 138). If they accept the gospel and the ordinances performed for them in the temples, they may leave the spirit prison and dwell in paradise. Also in the spirit prison are those who rejected the gospel after it was preached to them either on earth or in the spirit prison. These spirits suffer in a condition known as hell. They have removed themselves from the mercy of Jesus Christ, who said, “Behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; but if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit” (Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-18). After suffering for their sins, they will be allowed, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, to inherit the lowest degree of glory, which is the Telestial kingdom.

I would like to think all funeral homes are as caring and professional as this one. We have to be diligent even with services such as these. A funeral home a few years back was found to have dumped the bodies in the woods behind the establishment instead of cremation as promised. The same shenanigans with a burial when a daughter went to visit her mother's grave, it was found open and the mother's body was missing. When we find a good service of any type, it would do everyone well to spread that good business's name for the peace of mind for all. And likewise for the bad ones. This is one of those good places. An ideal for all businesses to follow. Thank you for this.

This is really great that familys are allowed to watch. The same as we watch our loved ones buried. This is what I would want for myself.

I would have loved to be present when my wife Marilyn was cremated. It's such a final moment. Kudos to you folks for not only allowing this but encouraging it and allowing the families to have full closure. I love to see death being demystified, it's part of life. My granddaughter has always been taught a rhyme that begins 'Everything lives, everything dies, everything laughs, everything cries.' to help begin that learning process.

I'm all for cremation but I can't imagine anyone would want to see their loved one engulfed in flames. It seems like extra trauma at an emotional time.

They do not see the flames at all. They see them being loaded and the door closes shut.

It is my understanding that the body is not "engulfed" in flames, but rather, the heat being so intense completely dehydrates and breaks down the entire body.

I didn’t get to say goodbye to my 43 year old son that died of esophageal cancer last December,,, his wife never told us he was in the icu prior for 11 days then text us to say if u wanna say goodbye u better hurrry,,he was taken home to die and that text he was in active dying and didn’t know anyone there… I HATE HER FOR DOING THAT.. she was always a toxic wife to him Can never forgive her 😭

Very impressed by the level of care provided by this company!

I worked for the postal service and had to deliver cremated remains to his spouse. I really wasnt comfortable waiting for her to answer the door. I didnt know what kind of reaction she would have. But, thankfully she was calm and didnt burst into tears!. (Notice the mailing boxes in the final prep room , under the table) The boxes were stamped with "Handle with Dignity"

Several years ago, I was driving home and passed a funeral home. There was a big plume of block smoke coming out of the stack. It made me sad. I’m glad that the smoke management technology now allows clear smoke to be released. Thank you.

Thirty years ago, my nursing school was next door to a funeral home. You could definitely smell that something was happening with the crematory. Being there around it every day, it became a very distinct recognizable smell. I hope that doesn't happen anymore either with the new technology. It is interesting to learn that cremated remains are really powdered bones.

Can't have been legal

The one thing THEY don't mention is that behind every service there is a cost and a big one at that.

My husband died on Feb 4th 2022 .4 days ago.he was being cremated this week. I hope i made the right decision for us .we didn't have life insurance .his death was sudden .I had to do what I could afford. I miss him so bad

So very sorry for your loss at obviously a young age Karen. I think you definitely made the right choice as far as going with cremation for your husband. I've gone through it many times with my loved ones and have attended cremations. This is what I want for myself and I'm sure your husband is at peace. I'm just so very sorry that you lost your husband and I hope that in time you will also be at peace. I will be praying for you my dear ❤️💞🕯️🙏🕯️

@@ladypamela2 thank you for the kind words .I wish I knew about family members was allowed to attend the cremation. I don't know if I would or would not have gone but would have liked to had the option to decide .I miss him horribly and the way he was taken so fast from us was unbelievable. He only went into the hospital because of pneumonia came out with 5 tumors in on his brain and lung cancer then 4 days later I lost Him. He went in talking by the next day he couldn't do anything .I never got to tell him so he could understand how much I loved him and thanks for a wonderful life with him and for 3 beautiful children and grandbabies .I would like just 1 more day with him .

It's all about what helps you to process and cope. I know it's not for everyone, but I would want the reality of the situation. I'd want to see everything. You will never forget those moments, and they're all part of your son's story and life. I'm very sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking to lose a child at any age. I had a similar opportunity to see the reality of things when my dad died (he wasn't cremated though). They allowed me to attend early as I wanted to be there alone with my dad and no other family members. NO MUSIC, NO HUGS, and they didn't even pose his hands. I saw a few gnats which I smushed into the lining of his coffin. They almost dropped the coffin when they slid it out of the mini van. I heard them struggling to lift it onto this metal thing. They rolled it into a room and tossed the American flag and flower blanket off to the side. I saw they breathing heavy and being winded from the effort. Granted they didn't know I was watching. But I loved that it was REAL. I will never forget it.

My grandma got cremated she died on 8/18/23 at the age of 77 i still miss her 😔💔

This is what i want when my time comes...i feel that a funeral is really too much to go thru..for my loved ones..so..I just want them to know that im at peace and my body is cremated..as i wished..

I had my 35 year-old son cremated after he passed away in 2016 and I had no idea it was such a detailed process I know that the funeral home guarded the body and the urn until I signed for it and went out the door with the urn they were very serious about no one getting ahold of the remains this was very educational

Very clean and aseptic. When my horse died I had him cremated and it was quite expensive but I was really happy I did it. I was really sad the day I picked him up and asked to see where he was held and cremated. They were really nice and I got to see where they cremated the animals in Los Angeles area. It was extremely pleasant, they had some large doors to drive in trucks for equine cremations and a huge refrigerator for the horses and other animals. It was gated but open to the outside and had very nice plants and other things around the yard. I expected a gloomy dank place but it was sunny and clean with a pleasant vibe. I’m glad I saw it.

My dear friend just passed away on NYE and was cremated. After watching this video, I understand the process so much better. I hope he was taken care of just like this. Thank you.

We unexpectedly lost our 23 year old son four years ago this coming December and we had him cremated. We still have his ashes. Thank you for this video as I always wondered how "respectful" he was treated in addition to the cremation process. Whenever I drive into northern Portland, OR I pass the crematorium, which is off Highway 84. We were not allowed (I believe) to be there. Again, thank you.

Is thier a good way to see 👀that cremation can be permanently banned and instead let's bury our loved-ones because God very strictly bans cremation and will punish those who choose cremation by not allowing thier bodies to be resseructed which means that those who choose to be cremated will be punished by being sent straight to the fiery depths of hell let's get law's put in place making cremation a felony meaning that those surviving family members will be punished by being sent to prison for violating and breaking laws by having thier loved-ones cremated, I myself want to see that cremation is made a criminal act and the law will force people to choose burial instead of being cremated and if I could have my way I would personally see to it that all crematorium's are permanently banned and closed down for good and by the way God does not condone cremation and he will punish those who choose to be cremated this is why thier are cemeteries to bury people and not cremate them which as it says in the Bible the person who is cremated is ineligible and will not be resseructed on resurrection day so find a way to permanently stop and ban cremation here in America and around the world.

My mom was cremated and i regret not being there. I also could have seen her one last time while at the funeral home before her cremation. But my family put the pressure on me saying I was prolonging my grief and that why would I mentally want to put myself through it. I caved in to peer pressure and regret it to this day. I could have had one on one time with her one last time and I didn't. It makes me sad. I miss you Mom. Xo

My condolences to you and I am sorry that your family made you feel that way at that time in your life. Forgive yourself and remember that was your moms body and not her soul. Go have that one to one anytime that you need to be close to her, in your private place for just you and her.

I’m not even sure this was a thing when my grandfather passed away. Granted, that was 25 years ago this April. But I feel like if it would’ve been offered then it might’ve helped my sister and I more in the healing process.

Ugh this hurts and hits home. My brother passed away in 2016 and thank you all for the love and kindness to the families. They need you more than you know. I sure couldn’t do this. I can be a support system outside of this. Bless you all.

Tell my daughter... makes no effort and were in 70s.... once close lid too late. And we were great parents.

I just cremated my mom in May 2022 those were her wishes. The funeral home was very precessional and handle her with care. I wish they had a place like yours here in NewYork where you could be a part of the cremation. Thank You so much for sharing. I miss my mom so much. My heart ❤️ is so broken 💔

My husband was the first one cremated in both our families. It was a huge difference, in the grief I felt. When they handed me his cremains, it was a different feeling, I had him back with me . I don't know how to explain it, but it was more comfort, to be able to have his cremains.

My mum shocked the family when she said she wanted to be cremated, there was only one burial space left and she wanted more of us to have the option, it can fit 6 cremations. Now I have both my mum and dad's ashes at home and it was really comforting to know that they are here in some form. Their ashes are being buried together soon

Cremation is not something that has been the choice in my family. Having said that, thank you for such an educational video. It deserves more than just a “like”, as someone mentioned in another comment. And thank you to Wood Funeral Home for the level of professionalism, caring and expertise.

Thank you so much for a wonderful explanation of The cremation service. As a hospice nurse I have had a very brief understanding of what took place and I was very pleased with your content. Had no idea about temperatures or a couple of other items that were mentioned. I was very curious about the exhaust from a crematorium but I think you alleviated my further questions. I have opted for my family to have my body cremated once I die! I really don’t care what my family does with my body. It was never me to begin with. I am a spirit created in GOD’s image. When I (spirit) leaves this earthly body, I (spirit) will be in heaven where GOD is! GOD has promised! A lot of people really don’t know who they really are. We are all spirit, with a soul and living in a physical body. You don’t need this body to be you, you need it because you live HERE!!! So, I couldn’t care what my family does with my body. Where I am going and where I will be, I won’t need it anyways! Peace.

You don’t need this body to be YOU, you need it because you live here! Simply put- Whenever you look at someone, you don’t really see them! You just see the house that they ( spirit) live in! You can’t see spirit! In other words, our bodies are not us. They are just the vehicle that we live in to move around this 3 dimensional world that we live in. The spirit world is the real world. I wish all funeral homes offered services like yours. My friend Jake passed away from leukemia last year. His wife and parents were offered the chance for us to view the cremation. It helped give us a chance to come to terms with his passing and start our healing. It was a major blessing to have that experience.

Thank you for making this video. I never knew exactly what was involved in the cremation process. This was a very educational presentation and very professional. It helps take away some of the anxiety. Not knowing about some things can be harder to live with. Thanks again.

My son was cremated in 2014 after passing from Cancer complications. I had no idea what the process looked like. I don't think the crematorium here allows family to watch or be a part of and I'm no sure I could have. Thank yo for the informative video.

Thank you.. it took me two attempts to watch this video, but I was determined to see it through. I am going to be cremated when I pass and just wanted to see what happened, but of course it is confronting... You made it easier and I thank you for this. I feel comforted now that it is this easy and this carefully done. Well done for putting this up for those of us who need to see this.

Fascinating, very cool of you guys to share this. This is how things should be for the bereaved every time. Your level of care in this facility is top notch and sets a precedent of excellence.

I just had a good friend who died last week. They were cremated and that’s what brought me here. Part of the healing process

This video was very well done, and I understand better the process.

Wow, this is deep. It’s amazing that people are able to be present during the process. Technology is so advanced. Using this method of cremation you know for a fact it’s your loved one because you are able to stay throughout the process.

For some people it is. My friend Jake passed away last year from cancer. After the viewing several of his friends and family stayed for the cremation. It gave us some closure in knowing he wasn’t suffering anymore.

I was present all through my father's cremation. I only remember thinking seeing all the bodies lined up and my father lying next to what appeared to be a very poor woman lying next to him.. In death there's no rich or poor to define a human .. We are all the same. All those things we own, nothing is worth hanging onto.. Finally we depart as we came with nothing!

I witnessed a person being cremated when I went along with a person bringing a body to the only crematorium in that town. There were no family members there. I asked a question and the man in charge showed me the entire process including showing me one in process. It is only the shell of the person we knew. Even though the man demonstrating the process said he wouldn’t be cremated, I made up my mind then to be cremated myself. It was all very respectful.

Years ago.was diffearant those who were obese the body fat would give off a black cloud of smoke..this was decades ago I used to deliver parts next to a crematorium.

Our souls are what go to what we are judged upon! Good soul Heaven! Bad soul Hell or purgatory! Good souls leave the body immediately! Bad souls on Gods judgement Hell immediately! Purgatory may have to roam to see all the wrong they had done for eternity!
