The Last Dinner Party - Nothing Matters (6 Music Live Session)
As part of New Music Fix Friday, Steve Lamacq welcomed the much tipped The Last Dinner Party to BBC's Maida Vale studios for a live session.
The band’s early shows caused a stir, leading them to pick up early supports for Nick Cave, The Rolling Stones and Florence & The Machine.
You can listen to the full session and interview here on BBC Sounds:

This is one of those things that make me believe in multiple dimensions, it's like they pulled this song out of another universe's 1980s where it was a worldwide hit. IT'S SO GOOD! It's so familiar.

@@spraymie I haven’t seen them live but they don’t look anything special on KZread. It’s like they’ve been pulled straight out of an a level drama class. And I meant the band has been around for about 5 minutes. So how long have you been saying that? People can like whatever they want obviously but it’s just cringe to act like they’re some underground band that have gigged for a decade and you’ve supported them the whole time
Can't get enough of that bridge 🌉
Wow! Very talented ladies!
Heard them for the first time just after midnight and I am blown away. Been waiting for a good tune for a long time and this certainly delivers. 👌
One of my favorites of the year so far
love this band so much
Great music, amazing vocals and fantastic band !
My favourite new band
Saw them last night in Cambridge they were brilliant. The support act Picture Parlour are definitely worth a listen too

I remember those lyrics differently from listening to them today at work.
Been a while since I heard a new song and thought... who the hell is singing this?!! Wonderful.
Beautiful Song
Have works, i guess. Great feeling song.
After what feels like decades of artists that sound nothing short of bland on a conveyor belt, now these pulled seemingly by magic from the twisting nether to shake things up, and let's not forget the equally fresh and fantastic Wet Leg.
I LOVE THEMMMMM
Excellent, catchy song. Good arrangement. Very tasty lead guitar lines. Cute as hell (is it OK to say that?). I look forward to hearing more from these ladies.

Really great find. A refreshing resurgence of Pop Rock. Let the world hear the true lyrics though. If you can be told what you can see or read or hear Then it follows that you can be told what to say or think Defend your constitutionally protected rights.

Still a good song, but I liked the older live recordings better when she was singing "...and I will fuck you, like nothing matters." Makes more sense. But I guess that's what they expected you to do when you go recording at a BBC studio.

I really enjoyed this band. They reminded me of Florence and the Machine, they're really talented. However, I did find the ending a bit underwhelming and it seemed to be in the wrong key. Despite this, it did make the song more memorable. It reminded me of the ending of Roxy Music's Virginia Plain.
This is a great song though I like the version with the "F" word better.
Do they have a permanent drummer..?

Really, no blokes in the band, how the hell are they going to manage when they need to load there backline in and out of venues, i suppose they'll have to ask there dads or there boyfriends to help, pathetic, at least Abba had it right with a strict down the middle policy of male, female and who's doing the heavy lifting and they are still going strong now, have you seen how fit and young they look now , blooming amazing, you can't learn these youngsters anything and as we all know, youth is wasted on the young 😢
