The Last Aboriginal Woman To Speak Tasmania's Lost Language | Time Walks | Absolute History

Tony Robinson brings his inquisitive storytelling approach to Australia's diverse suburbs and towns. His mission is to uncover the hidden history that lies behind, below, and above the places, we walk every day. In each episode, we find a different postcode laden with stories. They're all established walks that tourists and locals frequently do, but Tony digs deeper to draw out the drama of the past. He'll roam through the streets and lane-ways; divulging the tales of crimes, recounting acts of bravery, notable characters, and showdowns that have shaped the area.

Misleading title. Should've been called Hobart Walk-about or something because I thought the whole thing was going to be about the lost language.

Death is just as much of an integral part of life as birth is. The dead languages and species are remembered through what the living ones are not. And without that death, we would not be as complex as we are today, in speech or biology

This needs to be renamed 'a walk around Hobart'. There's an awful lot covered which people would be missing from the current title. Also, the 'last' Aboriginal woman is not factually accurate and is rather offensive to Tasmanian Aboriginal people today.

It's a bit disrespectful to cover the extinction of a language in this way. It's been used in the title to draw in viewers, but then given the least amount of time. This feels flippant. Eradication of religion and culture shouldn't be shrugged off.

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly, if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $505k in raw profits from just q4 of the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy. mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

The island is called Lutruwita ....its been that way for 50,000 years the last 200 years have been a little, well how do you say...off. As a Palawa of Lutruwita I see so much destruction even in this century and age, the subconscious values of genocide or near genocide echo in the sociocultural ideals of the current era. It is a beautiful island made of sub antarctic rain forest and magnificent coastline amazing nature. Most of the older buildings are derived from slave labor and represent a government founded on high treason, the name Tasmania comes from a mockery of Admiralty and the manic behavior of the civilization here at what was then the edges of the world and in some ways still is today. I believe it has the ability to become a forefront of civilization the environment and humanity occupying the planet and the Palawa of Lutruwita can also show a better humanitarian duress towards the civilization and its people than the imposed leaders and representatives of the colony its constitution mimicking roman English beliefs and westernized ideals and deals in which the Palawa of Lutruwita see no revenue for its natural resources that are being destroyed and mis managed by the illegitimate occupation. No formal understanding on a scientific level of the pathogens that exist in the rain forest and other biome's of Lutruwita Nor a recognition of the Palawa and their Occupation of Lutruwita in recent years a treaty was breached by municipal representatives of "Tasmania"and its Government. it is the Poorest economy in Australia.
