Its because of the 2001 series when the Devils Scott Stevens concussed Shane Willis and Ron Francis with borderline hits. Canes never forgot that and played extra hard against Devils in 2002, 2006, 2009.

Tossis at 1:45 - the 2002 Vasicek call is John Forslund. After he is done, Tripp Tracy the Hurricanes color guy interjects about Raleigh “not being a hockey town”. You can hear John say one of his famous lines “Hey hey waddya say” he also frequently says “that’s hockey baby”

Yup. We are hoping to change that. I would love for Carolina to be a regular playoffs team. I think it is changing. We will see after 10 years.

This makes me happy. This makes me very, very happy.

That was a great reel of grindy, straight up hockey goals.

Carolina don’t do first round eliminations. They miss or are in the Eastern Conference Finals. They’re last 4 playoff berths. 2002 - Cup Finals, 2006 - Cup, 2009 - Eastern conference finals, 2019 - Eastern Conference Finals

The Canes really felt like a team of destiny that year. Too bad they ran into the juggernaut Red Wings who had one of the best rosters of all time.

Always makes me laugh the way Tim Thomas just yeets out of the net after an OT loss. Haven't seen that with any other goalie.

The canes were owned by the Devils the 1st time both teams played each other back in 2000 but then decided to own them 3 times every times the Canes and Devils play each other in the playoffs it's like the Canes are the Devils dreaded curse mark .

Also a lot of Canes Playoff Goals with under a minute left in the Game to take the lead and win.

Love this series. Can't wait for the wings one

Those 2002 Canes goals in the Eastern Conference Finals will haunt me forever.

I was at the game in the second clip with my parents but I wasn’t even a year old. When Brind’amour won the game with that goal my dad had to cover my ears bc the arena was so loud

it feels so weird in these early clips, hearing jack edwards call a game that doesn't involve the bruins
