    @@seagull-uh4ft Mate, you’re not making any sense. A sauropod would be unable to sustain a carnivorous diet. The closest thing to what you’re describing is a prosauropod, as themightyhawk mentioned earlier, but even they aren’t carnivores. Prosauropods were either outright herbivorous or mostly herbivorous. Also, theropod refers to a specific clade of dinosaurs in the theropoda subgroup. Sauropods also have their own separate clade called sauropoda. A dinosaur cannot be both a sauropod and a theropod because of that.

    I have a genuine question about T. rex literally holding the crown for every record while happening to already be the most popular dinosaur. Idk whether its popularity encourages more study or draws more funding or if it’s popularity is due to the shear numbers found, which in turn could answer how we kno so much about T. rex. Makes me wonder about how different our perception of those other animals would be if they were studied/found as often

  • @chrisrandom1404

    You’re definitely right. I believe the US has the most funded paleontology world wide with a literal government agency backing it. And just so happens that the most famous theropod resided here. Argentina better step it up before T.Rex leaves the Giga in the dust. Still love my Carcha and Spino duo though, will always be my favorites.

  • @TheDinoFax

    @TheDinoFax

    6 ай бұрын

    That's actually a great question, and you're right on track. T. Rex is probably the most famous dinosaur in history, which encourages people to study it. T. Rex news always makes headlines, and sometimes thats what people are after. And you're right, we have found so many Tyrannosaurus fossils that we have the entire skeleton. And, as someone else mentioned, a big part of that is because the USA has such an extensive paleontology program. Few countries have such a large system. Another issue is access to the land. Many digsites around the US can be found on private land, and a contract is worked out between them. That is much more difficult to do sometimes in other countries. In short, yes T. rex is much more well studied than any other animal on this list, though I'm not sure if that has any bearing on whether it should hold these records. We can't know that without looking at these animals through the same well educated lens that we can with Tyrannosaurus.
