I feel like the CS2 obsession is a bit of a fad right now, and as time goes on, there will definitely be nostalgia for the heavily modded CS1 projects like these, at least until it's possible to do these kinds of projects in CS2

@@buckyjames1898 exactly this! CS1 has retained its popularity over several years and is still popular and relevant due to modded cities like Asturis and Altengrad. CS1 will remain popular for atleast 2 or so years, or atleast until CS2 catches up in terms of mods. CS2 is currently hyped up as it just released and people are playding because it is new. But it cannot compare to furrent CS1.

I don't really understand why CS2 makes series like this less popular, the main focus of the series is what you build, not the game you build it in. So I'm really happy you're continuing the existing series, I love seeing the cities grow, and they look great as ever!

Yeah, it’s not what people who watch Acruas vids like, it’s what KZread thinks they like (or rather what it wants people to like-in particular the “new hotness”). CS2 is still vanilla at this point, and let’s face it, vanilla is *not* why people watch Acruas videos. Something like Blender with city building plugins would be more like what people want to see in Acruas videos than a vanilla city builder game. You can’t model your own buildings in CS2 yet, and this sort of custom work is a hallmark of this channel. Custom bridges and such. You can’t even plop specific RICO in CS2 yet, and there aren’t even placeable props other than trees and bushes. Even setting aside things like bugs, the focus of CS2 is totally different than that of late-era modded CS1.

@@Chorizo727 But do you watch videos like this purely for the game or for building tips? I imagine if that is the case, CS1 videos are no longer interesting. And that way CS2 and players moving over would hurt the popularity. But I personally watch this because I like what is being created. This could be in any game, whether I play, have played or will play it or not and it would still be interesting for me because of that

I feel like CS2 videos are not as entertaining for now (also cause I can't play it because of optimization as of now, I actually refunded it) and the lack of detail for now is a big part of the reason. 40 minute episode of Asturis!!!! Major hype. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this is one of the best series ever done for CS (one of the others being Altengrad). No need to rush it for the current level that CS2 is at. I think everyone who watches these videos supports you doing whatever you’re the most passionate about. I haven’t even bought CS2 yet. Told myself I won’t until they finally release their mod client and we get a sense for if it will actually work.

You're such a skilled creator, and until the tools to build cities like aurelia are available in cs2, i dont see why you would want to switch. It's sad to hear that the algorithm doesn't agree with me, but be sure that you have my full support for future cs1 content, and i dont think im the only one. I'm following Asturis closely since you started. Every episode is amazing. I'm glad you will keep building the city When you were building Altengrad, I remembered something about the Commieblocks: some were built with amenities on the ground floor to stimulate pedestrian movement in the area, whilst keeping people working in the neighborhood. Would that be the case for a futuristic city like Asturis?

I hope you will be able to continue making them, in whatever way and frequency, until CS2 gets enough custom assets and mods or patches. While I understand that from the creator's point of view it must be difficult decission, I personally am SO happy that you decided to continue with CS1 for now. I started watching your videos because of the Altengrad series, it is what I missed on youtube and what I really love and it would be so dissapointing had you decided to terminate that project. It is enjoyable, inspiring, and teached me a lot. Asturis, while I am not fan of modern/futuristic builds, is still awesome and unique thanks to your skills in the game and your determination to make things work as you planned, even if it requires just using PO for most stuff. On technical level, you are among the best CS creators and that makes you interesting to watch. As much as I enjoy your commentary and style, I don't find watching you play CS2 remotely that interesting, as 1- The game at this point doesn't grant you the level of creativity that modded CS1 does, and 2-It is just unfinished, and kinda dissapointing game, that is just frustrating to watch and play, at least for me. Keep it up, love your creations

It's been a year and I watched every single Asturis episode and it got to a point where the Asturis episode was almost an essential part of every other friday. I usually get ready with a drink or a snack and just enjoy the 30 minutes of me time (always better if they're longer). I really love seeing where this city and your imagination is going and I'd love seeing the city completed. The tram rides are awesome but I'm even more hyped for the final cut of the whole city. In my opinion Infrastructurist is the best CS2 youtuber, his layout and attention to building type really makes his city look awesome, His CS1 stuff is too focused on looks, and silly layout of roads etc, So if you do another CS2 i would like you to follow that template of his CS2 stuff. You are the best detailer and put so much thought and real world focus on places like your plazas and skywalks etc as shown in this series, i'm looking forward to what you can do with CS2 mods. Any chance of a future Collab with Infrastructurist on a modded CS2 city, because that would be epic !! 😉

For what it's worth, I think the CS2 videos are just flooding the market with content that's just too much alike, I've almost stopped watching some of my favorite creators because they've moved on to CS2 content too soon, in my opinion. I just don't the the game is there yet, to be able to support tons of creators putting out content that's all the same milestones with the same content. Your content has always stood out so far above the other content that other creators produce, I don't want to see you struggling with a game you're not enjoying just to produce content. Your cities are works of art, and you have a talent at showing how you do what you do without making it monotonous or repetitive, but actually educational. I don't think it's going to be very long until CS:2 is on par with 1 in terms of mods and assets. Modders have already been developing for a while now and their efforts have been a lot more focused.

Its absolutely understandable. I bought CS 2 as well (even pre-ordered) and it was fun in the beginning. But after some time playing i just miss too many positive things of possibilities of CS 1... Dont wanna talk about bug issues & stuff. I'll still watch all your CS 1 videos, cause theyre just more entertaining! :D

So glad to hear you're continuing with this series!! CS2 has a lot of catching up to do before it's on par with CS1. I hope memberships can help you justify keeping with it despite the view disparity

I usually dont like videos [I dont know why], but I liked this one. Just to show that there are lots of people watching and enjoying your CS1 content! I literally grew up with your and 2dollar20s videos and am now studying city planning at the University. I guess what I want to say is, that I would be really happy if you continued with CS1, only if you enjoy it too of course. At the moment I am only watching cs1 videos, because I really like heavily modded Cities Skylines.

I could tell your enthusiasm for CS2 wasn't there. And I think you've made exactly the right decision. I'm sure once there are some decent mods released then you will move over. You aren't a vanilla player and your audience don't watch you to see vanilla gameplay. I am extremely happy that you are sticking with the CS1 format and watching the amazing things you build and history lessons you give. Thank you.

I feel like a redlight district, market or something similar in the empty spot next to the transportation centre would fit it perfectly, but i don't know if it would be realistic lore-wise

40 minutes! We're getting spoiled this week. What a goreous new area. Love the huge hospital, plus the cathedral and plaza look super unique and amazing, and those lights during the night wow!! i'm happy you decided not to abandon Asturis, it's my favorite CS city to follow so it would be quite a bummer.

Keep it up! This was an amazing, huge build. That cathedral is perfect. The lighting is so good. I don't blame you one bit for wanting to shelve CS:2 for the time being. I did the same. It's just not ready. Please do keep both Asturis and Altengrad moving along. They are the premier CS content on KZread.

I really wish I lived in Asturis. I'd have a place on the coast in the "Mars structure" (Ep.34) district, and every night I'd fall asleep with the window open so I could hear waves crashing on the shore.

Loved this massive build and I can't wait to go for a ride within the city center. I hope you keep doing the Asturis/Altengrad series, I think a lot of people are rooting for them to reach the finish line. Regarding CS2, I understand, I haven't bought the game yet because I'm waiting for the issues to be resolved. I'm sure eventually CS2 will be fixed and have so much content that you will be able to build amazing cities, let's stay positive.

Please don't stop with these (CS1) Asturis and Altengrad series. They're both masterpieces! And way more elaborate than anything anyone can do right now with CS2. CS2 is just in a very bad state right now and will be for some very long time, and it will still need modders to make it as functional as a heavy modified CS1. Don't be fooled by the ratings.. its just that CS2 is trending now, but the trend will fade once people buy it and see how limited it is. Keep making these awesome series. I know I'm not the only one that will continue watching each episode!
