The LR3/LR4 is not a bad vehicle. Stay clear away from the turbocharger engine, I really enjoy the 4.4L. My 4.4 is rock solid. The timing chain and guides are this unit downfall, but don't let that scare you away. Yes a belt should last more then 100k miles, but if you are a pro active driver in maintenance you'll find this is one of the best overland vehicle to play with.

is there any way to preemptively save some hassle with timing chains on the V8s? If I was in the market for a used one how would know? considering a high mileage purchase ie 130k miles...should the service record make note of TC replacement win the past in order to consider a purchase?

I have an 2007 LR3 in Canada with 225000 kilometers which is roughly 140000 miles and I have spent 5000 in repairs in 15 years but let me tell you it still drives smoothly, quietly more solid and is better built than every other SUV I have been in including my wife's 2015 Honda pilot which only has 35 thousand miles on it. Let me tell you the LR3 is amazing in the snow, I had an Ford F-150 FX 4 PLUS which is a specific off road package and my LR3 was and still is much better especially off road. I am about to finally upgrade to the 2011 LR4

Hi. Im now in the process of seeking an LR 3 or 4 - would there be any tips of what I should check for prior to purchase? For example, the transmission oil change etc - ideally would be done by previous owner..but then again if its not done correct....

I have 2016 LR4 HSE, Fuji White with 56,000 miles on it. Best SUV ever built. It is a cult vehicle. I get offers to sell it all the time. Just follow the maintenance schedule and change the oil every 5,000 miles and you will be fine. The finest SUV ever made.

Nice but buying Land Rover well Over 100k miles is a disaster move.it’s not about how expensive it is to repair. It’s the how often they break. There isn’t a car maker that breaks down more than Land Rover. #moneypitt

So true but you can’t deny what a comfortable and enjoyable ride it provides unlike no other vehicle. It’s quiet inside the cabin area while on the road unlike many other cars.

@@st9780 Yes its comfortable and luxurious but that will all go away once you see a light engine lit up or air suspension stops working or u hear something knocking and u dont know where its coming from etc etc etc…Anyone else reading this and thinking of getting an LR4 DO NOT BUY IT its a headache.

Typical greasy used car salesman without any kind of a dental plan. One would hope with the commission a toothbrush could be in order. Nice SUV though, just hate the slick slimy sales tactics.
