If those seat brackets are for your LandCruiser specifically, I would have returned it all, and everyone should also. This would force their hand to fix the QC issue. That's unacceptable.

I put a center console from a 2001 Chevy Tahoe in my LX450. 2 cup holders front & rear, tons of storage & 12v outlet in the back. It took some tweaking, and the 2nd row of seats don't fold over all the way anymore..... but I absolutely needed the upgrade!

i had the same issues with my brackets for my 1989 Toyota pickup....i even made sure i called and gave all my measurments over the phone because i heard everyone had fitment issues. Great job on all the videos! always enjoy them.

I was thinking the same exact thing man. I did talk to them and they said they were more than willing to figure it out, but it was quicker for to me to just modify them myself.

I wrapped my 98 4R's steering wheel with a light brown steering wheel cover from the same company. Agree it took some time and untangling and all that but it's a really great feel, looks great, and widens the OEM steering wheel just enough to be the right thickness IMO

for the brackets, I think you can just pull the tab towards the back or hammered down and pushed in and should have been ok. I did a friend's of mine fj and about to do mine. didn't have to cut or expand the holes

I feel like a hammer and a large adjustable wrench would have modified those rear brackets with no cutting. I could be wrong.

Another good Video, great neutral color choice, very clean. curious why you didn't just cut the bolt tabs off the seat brackets and just re-weld correctly measured tabs (common issue w/ alot of after market seat brackets). still I love the quality and effort your putting into this, Its a different type of restore when you have a love for the vehicle your doing. Instead of just View's, and it shows can hear it (the excitement)when your talking about the next steps... keep it goin

I am running 4:88 with 315/75r16’s. Runs great with that setup (‘97 80 triple locked). I wouldn’t run those with 38s however (IMO).

I’m probably going to do 4.88s. The 1FZ is not the engine that will be in this cruiser forever. I don’t wheel with a heavy foot so I may be able to scoot by with 5.29s but the weak pinion scares me.

I used the Planted brackets, they fit perfectly.

Your solution for the seat bracket was to take the thing out and cut that tab off to make a new tab that fits over the hole, especially since you know how to weld.

Man, I made the same mistake with the same tailgate storage.

Any thoughts on re-doing the seat upholstery instead of buying new seats? I have a 93 LC as well. I have to re-do the carpet as well, but that's another story.

Definitely possible if you like the stock seats. Could be a good option - I kept mine just in case.

I did moab seats in my land rover, and the seat brackets were an absolute nightmare. They came in with those same cj/yj instructions, and were so far off from what I needed for my truck. Had to cut and weld my own brackets in the end.

If you don't like the color match on anything you did in the interior, use SEM color coat. I did my whole steering wheel after the one i bought from the UAE ended up the wrong color. Been holding up great for over a year now.

I'm confused? The documentation said they are for cj/yj direct bolt in... Which would be a jeep. They're marketed for the 80 by the manufacturer? Crazy

They’re saying the seats are a direct bolt in without their brackets for a jeep. The company makes brackets for nearly every model of vehicle you’d put these in though.

I sound like a keyboard warrior i know but were the brackets side specific? Im personally just curious looking for options when it comes to purchasing seats myself vs keeping oem. And were the seats worth it in your opinion I will sleep on a couch over a bed at times looking for outside perspective

@@sethbooker3335 They were side specific and were installed on the right side, they just don't fit. I think they're a nice seat. Probably a lot of seat swaps you could do from the junkyard for cheaper. Or you could go more expensive and get Scheelmann seats. I think for the price, they're good.

Is that tailgate storage panel strong enough to stand on?

Kind of. I am 205 lbs and my foot spans the tailgate lid opening so it doesn’t put direct stress on the center section which would be the weak point. I wouldn’t stand there but I’ve crawled over it getting into the back of the truck and it was fine. You can create a brace out of 2 pieces of angle iron like what Delta does, and wedge it into the inner middle part of the tailgate to provide strength.

That tailgate storage is probably one of the best mods ever. I think solvefunction has a strut mod that you can do also to have a slow opening hatch. Really helps with the weight.

First, the tailgate door does look better with the galvanized metal trim around the edges of the opening, and evens out the waffle edge of the factory tailgate. The steering wheel cover made me smile. I remember back in the 70's installing genuine simulated leather steering wheel covers on several of our cars. They stretched over the wheel like your did, but didn't require a needle to sew it up. The ones we could buy had a sorta plastic "thread" that was similar in color to the cover we were installing. Hey, for $2.99, how could you ask for more. 😅

I'm probably over simplifying the seat brackets but couldn't you have simply bent the front brackets out to get the proper fitment?

Why you didn't go with a second hand bmw or lexus seats. it comes from wrecked cars or totalled cars. its very common here for rebuilding landcruisers in middle east. the only useful thing a bmw has is its memory seats.
