Can't really expect to have a reasonable conversation about a guy like Latu when there were people legitimately calling Bosa washed because he had 10.5 sacks instead of 18.5 last year. The expectation that anyone picked high automatically needs to be a top 5 guy at their position is also kind of crazy. A great prospect who turns out to be a good player is an awesome investment of a top 10 pick, because chances are that whichever position you're picking that high was not performing well whatsoever the year prior. Basically, the team is going from having a bad [insert position player] to a good one.

He's an enigma. I'd take him in a heartbeat but I'd want to interview him and get him to explain how and why he lost to Fuaga. If he has the will and the strategic thinking he's worth a 1st rounder for sure.

He had 5 snaps against Fuaga. That's not enough to even grade and he lost because Fuaga is tackle 1 in this class and future all pro right tackle.

@@RubbaDubbaDooskie yeah what makes it worse is the pass rush snaps we're kinda pushes in some ways. DJU got the ball out quick and there was some good hand fighting between both players. On one, Fuaga's guard helped him not give up the inside. The run snaps were all Fuaga. He completely annialated Latu on those two snaps, but again were talking about 5 total snaps. And they went up against each other about 4 more times in the Senior Bowl but those snaps were basically ties. They're both great players and Latu had a great game against Oregon State because he was moved around whipping everyone else's ass. People forget that a player doesn't have to be productive against the best guy to be good. Again, Fuaga is a potential All Pro level talent imo. Best tackle in the draft in my mind. But Latu doesn't have to always rush against the best tackles. I mean if your playing the 49ers, you aren't gonna put your best rusher on Trent Williams and that's not because he wouldn't be good enough to win some snaps against Williams. But you get more production and cause more issues putting him on other guys that he can absolutely wreck their world every snap.

@@evanthompson4186 I hear you. And I'd be happy if my team drafted either. Fuanga might be like a stronger Riley Reiff type at OT or a pro bowl caliber player at guard. Latu I could see being a steady double digit sack guy. We'll see if he falls. Guys with his production typically get drafted high.

@@RubbaDubbaDooskie Fuaga could play any position. Idk if he's ever snapped, but the dude is technically sound. I haven't loved a tackle prospect this much since Rashawn Slater a few years ago. Guys like them will be great in the league because they understand offensive line better than anyone and it lends to longer careers because they aren't so heavily reliant on their athletic ability even though they still have it. Same with Latu.

@@ledevingreen7920 I wouldn't hate Turner but i don;t have him better than Latu or Verse coming out. With that said the latest rumors are Falcons are higher on Latu and Down on Turner though. So we will see how those rumors play out. Luckily the guy who said it was jeff/jben and that dude has called like 90% of our offseason a week before it happened. I don't know who he has inside info with but it's possibly going to get them fired XD That man has been scary accurate so far on like 5 or 6 different things within a month span. If you think about it though Latu does make the most sense our current DC was literally his college head coach so he chose the kid specifically for this scheme even back then lol.

He’s not the raw athlete like Micah Parsons but he’s bigger and still better than most. He needs to study Parsons though in how to be disruptive and stay balanced for injury prevention, and do a little more than break down the pocket although that’s his bread and butter

The fact that Sam thinks Latu has the best Pass Rush Win Rate they've ever seen is an indictment of his knowledge, especially as an employee of PFF. How the fuck do you get that wrong? "He's good against the run".... yeah you can tell he didn't watch the tape. He mentioned Chase Young and Bosa specifically, both of them DID eclipse Latu in Pass Rush Win Rate in 2019 and 2017 respectively. Josh Allen destroyed him. Bralen Trice had the same win rate in 2022.

Outside of his snaps against Fuaga, which were two, he holds up fine against the run. Sometimes he struggles to get leverage because of his height but I mean the same way he wins as a pass rusher he can stack and shed as a run defender. It won't be what he's drafted for, but if he needs to make a play in the run, he most certainly can.
