The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The Ladybugs are a fictional band. They were created for Season 1, Episode 27, of the TV series Petticoat Junction. The episode is titled "The Ladybugs." The episode originally aired on Tuesday, March 24, 1964, two days after this live performance. Synopsis "Beatlemania comes to Hooterville." The Ladybugs are: Jeannine Riley (Billy Jo Bradley, bass guitar, but she is playing it like a rhythm) Pat Woodell (Bobbie Jo Bradley, vocals) Linda Kaye Henning (Betty Jo Bradley, Drums) Sheila James Kuehl (Sally Ragsdale, Lead Guitar, Zelda on the Many Loves of Doby Gillis)

Missed seeing her in 2002, when she and the late Robert "Bob" Ulrich (and wife, Heather Menzies & there new baby w/ nanny were in Denver for appearing in stage musicial, Chicago.
Drummer is hilarious!
The Ladybugs are the girls from the show "Petticoat Junction" (Linda Henning, Pat Woodell, Jeannine Riley along with fellow actress Sheila James). As another commenter mentioned, Sheila starred on "Dobie Gillis" but she appeared in the "Petticoat Junction" episode in which they formed the Ladybugs. Somehow they got an actual appearance on the Ed Sullivan show! Probably a bit of cross-promotion, as well as doing it for a lark. I would love to see Bobby Vinton sing "My Heart Belongs to Only You" on this episode! :) The girls could actually sing quite well although I don't know if this style is their forte. I prefer their ballad recordings such as "Thirty Days Hath September".
