The Lady Gamecocks win the Natty | We Need To Talk NOW Ep. 1

Спорт

What a year for women's college basketball. Attendance was at an all time high, the 'Caitlin Effect' was in FULL effect and it all ended with an undefeated South Carolina winning the Natty! The growth of the game has been a beautiful thing to watch and we talk all about it on the first episode of We Need to Talk NOW.

Dawn is now on the upward path of becoming one of the all time greatest coaches ever in the history of women’s college basketball. She is definitely one its greatest winners from playing in college, to winning gold medals, and now has built a juggernaut in South Carolina. I hope that even more women will be engaged in women’s sports to make it even better than this season. I enjoyed women’s basketball since the days of cheering for Louisiana Tech in the 80’s, and I’m so happy that the sport is getting even better exposure.

I agree and I'll rake it a step further. As I've said for a couple years now, I believe if she desires, Coach Dawn Staley could make the leap to coach in the NBA.

I just don’t understand how ppl call these coaches great geno included they’re not doing anything special they get all the top recruits and blow everybody out no coaching really is being done nor needed. UConn got all the best recruits during genos run now dawn is doing the same thing lol it’s not coaching. That’s why women’s basketball was so boring it’s so predictable who’s going to win it all and the games aren’t competitive. I guarantee you you could “coach” South Carolina and have them undefeated as well

Dawn got me into the womens game when she came to South Carolina, Ill be honest i dont watch any WNBA but to be fair i dont watch any NBA either i usually stick to just college ball..but i do watch more NCAAW than NCAAM granted thats cause our ladies are great and lately outside of this past year our mens team have been doodoo outside of 2017. I say that to say this, anyone not watching Womens basketball these past few years have missed out on some amazing players and the future is bright for the sport.

Beautiful debut ladies, my compliments. Appreciate the humble spirits, but please do share with your viewers a little about yourselves as players, journalists etc. Do have a combo question/suggestion for a topic in a future cast. Question: When you refer to Dawn Staley as the "GOAT" are you saying among female head coaches or do you truly believe she has comprehensively a better coach than Geno? Suggested topic: Arguably the 6 players out for UCONN were good enough to have made the Sweet 16 and possibly the Elite 8. Fudd, Ducharme, Griffin and Patterson combined for 51 points between them against IOWA last year when UCONN beat IOWA 86-79 DeBerry & and Alfi (Freshman this year) didn't play in the game (Just to give perspective on how much talent they were missing for those who don't know). So my suggested topic is: Could any other Coach in the Country have gotten to the Final Four with 4 freshman and 6 players of that caliber not playing?" I think it's fair to say only SC had a deep enough talent pool to even be considered for that question IMO. I don't see them making the Final Four if you take away their 2nd best player (whoever may be considered that behind Cardozo and 5 others including another starter and their 6th man. Love to hear your thoughts on that. Great show and all of God's best to you moving forward 🙏🏾👍🏾

The WNBA has to change its business model. It needs to stand on its own or fold. Remove politics from the league. Also, casual onlookers think the women professional players are too masculine and so outward with lesbianism.

    - at this point ... why would CC want to bring any eyes to the WNBA since many/most don't seem to want her there? she's so polarizing, right? for getting to the championship game 2 yrs in a row with a team/program with a smaller budget from a smaller state. for tapping into the NIL that she was offered? cool.
