Foden & Bellingham can easily work in midfield. Have Rice sitting, Bellingham playing the box to box with Foden sitting in-between the lines further forward. Noone takes the ball in tight spaces on the half turn than Foden, while Bellingham can play his late runs from deep into the box for the flick on in behind or on to Kane ⚽⚽⚽

"unwritten rules" are a huge problem with the refereeing standards. If it's unwritten, it's not a rule. That's like saying a clattering in the first minutes shouldn't be a card, even when it is throughout the rest of the game. Way too much "interpretation" in refereeing and no consistency.

Not sure if you'll read this but Mark Clattenburg's role in the club is to prepare the players for how the referee in each game looks at decisions, he provides packs and analysis to assist players in their decision making on the pitch. This is a role that has been involved in Rugby for some time and as we know they have had their own VAR for many many years, which is actually sucessful compared to football's

Here's my outlook of the Manchester Derby as a Manchester United fan:- Did I expect to win the Derby? No. As sad as it sounds, I would have taken a point before the game. I always knew our gameplan was going to be to sit back and counter. And to our credit it worked quite well, until that Haaland chance. When Haaland missed, I felt it could be our day but when I saw the first goal go in for city, I knew we weren't coming back, I immediately turned to my friend and said "The match is going to end 3-1 or 4-1" and so it came to be. I was watching the match at a pub so I couldn't fully concentrate on the tactics and stuff but I don't think Pep changed anything particularly with regards to tactics. That said, Rashford missed a couple of great chances getting in behind but felt the heat with Walker with him, I genuinely felt that if he would have put one of those away, we could have walked out with a draw.

People don’t realise that the ref did it in the first half to Valencia too, ball was literally in Madrid’s box and he blew his whistle so it’s not a Madrid agenda just seemed like the ref wanted the headlines. Regarding Liverpool v Man City, they both play in Europe this week: City at home on Wednesday against Copenhagen with a 3-1 aggregate lead to protect; Liverpool away in Prague on Thursday night for the first leg of their Europa tie. It’ll be interesting to see the sides both clubs put out but obviously Liverpool’s current injury problems and the fact they’re travelling to and from an away tie in Eastern Europe might give City a bit of an edge. I’ll be very surprised if it ends 0-0, both sides concede chances and both tend to take them. Meanwhile, Arsenal are thumping everyone, aren’t they. If they can do it again against Brentford next weekend and Liverpool & City draw, they’ll get their noses in front right before the International Break.

Perhaps Shearer should've listened more in his coaching lessons and Newcastle might not have got relegated? As for "dropped an absolute clanger" - bollocks! It's the equivalent of giving a throw-in the wrong way or a corner instead of a goal kick, which happens EVERY WEEK. It's also utterly embarrassing how much Liverpool are looked down on!

see that's where i have an issue with the termonology of world class. i mean obviously it makes sense to define it like that. but i think that was when the term was brought up for the first generations who got classified like that. for example i think for center backs, i just don't see 2 players at world class currently. the difference in talent and skill is just too great. i mean you could argue that van dijk is already at an elite level of something like goats but i think we will have to wait for his career to end to really be able to judge that. i just don't see a 2nd cb who i would put in world class without restrictions. as well as goalies. i what makes a world class goalie. manuel neuer was for a long period the best goalie in the world, some even said in history. but honestly i think that currently the only one who fits that worldclass description is ederson. becker has been injured (otherwise i'd see him too), onana has great peaks but has some horrible mistakes in his game. donnaruma can't catch a ball if his life depended on it, most of the time it goes well but literally every other goal psg conced you see him blocking it and the 2nd attempt is the goal, manuel neuer is still recovering his world class form from his long injury, ter stegen is an absolute beast at barca but he seems to be a 2nd grade goalie for his national team. there are so many examples who might be in there but i can't really find an argument for most of them to get over the hump.

But there is absolutely no chance of winning anything with him in charge purely because he does have the tactical nouse to deliver at the top end, he’s proven that multiple times. dismantle? took them 70 minutes to score a wonder goal then united gave them the other 2. City were poor considering how bad united have been this season. Wuill have to wake up if they are to catch liverpool or arsenal. Especially with the way the refs are just giving liverpool everything

Haaland missed from a yard out before half time. You reckon it’s taking us 70 minutes to score again if it’s 1-1 at half time? We had more shots than United had possession we completely battered them. Sometimes (every game bar about 3 in the league against city) when there’s 11 men behind the ball it’s hard to break through, doesn’t mean we were poor

I do have to disagree with Micah regarding the city have another gear this season comment, normally they unlock that by gameweek 23 where they basically just start destroying teams for fun, but this time it feels genuinely like they are scrapping by and struggling for goals, in other words foden is carrying them at the moment

Bruno Fernandes would get into that side based on his talent. Pep would change him a little to fit his system but let’s not pretend like Bruno Fernandes isn’t a world class player. That’s the problem with questions like this, we all say “oh Bruno can’t play for city” but in all reality what would Debruyne do on Man U setting up garnacho and rashford and hoilund? Ask yourself this question, why is debryune borderline invisible on Belgium if he’s so great? Oh I know…it’s because of peps system which is exactly why Bruno could play for city.

Has VAR improved the game? Were the referees really this bad before VAR and we didn't notice as much or has the ref's standards dropped since VAR??

the wrong decision by Tierney was the same as giving a corner instead of a goal kick it's silly a ref would make it but jesus refs do far worse each game and forest had every chance to see the game out

Love the podcast boys you give Man City too much credit its like giving support to somone under 115 count of fraud if the charges stick all this could get taken away credit to their way of play but if 1 person had those charges people would be acting like he is Voldermort he who shall not be named.

I don't get the outrage over the Forest decision. Yea it was the wrong but so what? Forest would've got the ball about 40 yards from goal and they had more than enough chances to stop Liverpool scoring. If we're doing ifs and buts, then Van Dijk would've scored from the corner that wasn't given Liverpool's way after the Bobby Clark shot and Bradley would've ran past the whole Forest team and scored had Hudson-Odoi not dived that the ref missed. At the end of the day the decision didn't directly result in the goal.

There's a very high possibility that we'll look back at this weekend as the title decider. Kyle Walker should have been sent off, which could have completely changed the outcome of the game. Forest should have been awarded a last minute penalty and Liverpool should have lost 1-0. I think that rant by Kompany about inconsistency was quite justified...

Ppl asking “ were are Man Utd at “ … I’ve been saying to anyone that will listen … ( long suffering Everton fan btw 😂 football goes in cycles .. and not 2/3 year cycles .. 10 years plus cycles !!! How long did it take for Liverpool to win that title !!! Was it 1990 they last won it ( don’t jump o me if I’m wrong here ) but it was well over 20 years ago …. It’s took them so long to get back to challenging and eventually winning .. yeah theve won champions leagues but the premier league is what every side wants domestically … Arsenal … 20 years ago since they won league .. been finishing 7th 8th and been miserable .. 20 years it’s taken them now to be challenging again and they haven’t won it again yet but 2 season on the bounce there challenging at the end of the season … Chelsea … 10 years r more is it ?? There no wear near yet .. and Man Utd … over 10 years again and there another 5 years away imo from even challenging for the title .. even Man City … almost out of the football league many years ago now arguably the best team in the history of the premier league .. but when pep leaves get ready .. football runs in 20 + year cycles … even us Everton best team in the world in the mid to late 80s .. Jesus Christ were closer to going down than finishing even in the top 10 .. great podcast .. rant over pmsl

It's getting ridiculous now, Alan. Come on. ONE MINUTE AND FIFTY SECONDS LATER, and Forest even had possession during that time. Sorry, but these things happen. Are we supposed to stress like this every single time a referee gives a corner when it should be a goal kick? Or a throw the wrong way? After all, the whole game changes from there, right? "Might, might, might." I get it was a mistake, but as Neville said, it's hardly this big thing you're making it out to be. You're just saying it because it was when it was, and Liverpool scored after. The vitriol changes, but the mistake doesn't.

Hey come on Micah, Newcastle were robbed... and Milan come to think of it, Newcastle rightfully should be in the Europa League and it should have been Milan going through to the knock out round, had PSG not got that absolute sham of a penalty in the dying minutes, it would have meant PSG finishing bottom and yet they continue to progress in the competition with a pretty easy route too 🤦 this being a team spanked 5-2 over two fixtures by Newcastle
