What "ruined" that tank was that there were no other 5.0 tanks so you either had to tag along 4.7 lineup with it or 5.3. Now that there is VK 3002M ingame at 5.0 I see them way more than before.

why be scared of up tiering vehicles? i have used m10 in the same lineup as the 76 jumbo… as long as the gun is still effective it’s viable… sometimes i even bring m16 instead of m42 as i’m feeling out of touch with boffers lead

At 4.7 it’s miserably OP. At 5.0 it isn’t as obscenely broke. But it’s still strong. Issue now is lack of lineup. At 5.3 it isn’t anything special.

I agree. Playing 3.7 USSR was awful against this thing. The turret and most of the front is impenetrable without going for weak spots and/or using APCR. The best shot was to side shot this thing at a relatively flat angle. Granted, I was not as skilled of a player when I used to play 3.7 but I was glad it got moved up so I would not longer have to fight it.

@@hunlepto2239 stuff like the panzerwerfer premium or independent will always remain shit but are there existing as just fun premiums. Other stuff like the T-72 AV TURMS, XM-1 GM, XM-1 Chrysler and IS-6 are undertiered and the main money drawers to get people to grind with.

@@cqpp The XM-1's are sub-par compared to the 9.0-9.7 premiums around it, if you think that fucking thing is "undertiered" in its current state you need to look again. It has 0 armor, no smoke launchers (pretty fucking important), its speed really isnt special compared to everything around it, and it is stuck with a round from 8.7 that it is expected to use up to 10.3. M735 is shit. The XM-1 compared to things around it is not that great. On the other hand the fucking TURMS, is most definitely undertiered, Gen 2 or 3 thermals (and on commander sight), covered in ERA that results in making things that SHOULD go through not go through because the engine clearly cant handle it, speed that is nearly just as good as everything else beyond a non-existent reverse gear, ammunition that LOL-pens MBTs at 10.0 and very easily takes care of things even higher than that, tons of smoke, an autoloader which means your reload is consistent and you dont have to worry about fires resetting it. Out of what you provided the only things that are ACTUALLY undertiered are the TURMS and maybe the IS-6 if thats still even relevant. The turms is 10.0-10.3 material and gaijin knows it, it will never go where it belongs though, plus it has the 11.0-material BMP-2M to back it up easily. Once the XM-1 gets M774 and the smoke launchers it has artificially not been given, then you can maybe start to consider it "undertiered"

with the VK3002 it's really nice. combine it with the ostwind and you got at least the base of a lineup at 5.0

That shot early on on the t34 85 was so impressive. Youve had longer shots, but the time between you spotting it to firing just shows how good you are at the game

Odd is a good player, but he also missed the spot on that same guy at 4:44. Really the most important thing to focus on in this game is spotting. Odd's no slouch, but sometimes his ability to find targets is hampered--really he should be playing ULQ. It's considered "dirty" in the community but there's no reason to play with high or movie settings when it just puts you at a disadvantage.

My man ignored the gun mantlet ripped straight off of a Pz IV, It's 50mm thick, guarantees a cannon breech, and usually kills the entire turret crew I'd also add that part of the reason it isn't played nearly as much is that the KwK40 75mm is not what it used to be, Shermans and T-34's have become a lot more bouncy since the penetration rework

Exactly, the tank is easy as hell to kill when you actually know how.

It was even worse when it was so plastered in bushes you could never shoot at the weak spots, and always hit volumetric or heavily angled bits.

" Why does no one play this now?" Are you kidding me, I see it almost every game at 5.0 Whenever I see this tank on the kill feed I turn my entire attention to it, if I'm in a plane I primarily focus on this and give it big big "hug you"

I remember a game way back before volumetric and team repair and a lot of other things. I took one of these out on Normandy and got 16 kills. Considering my average is something like one per game, that's saying a lot. There was a teammate who sat back in disbelief as I was swarmed and still killed them all one by one in a point blank brawl. I'm pretty sure it was a full down tier. I wish I had a video to share.

I remember having a down tier in this thing at 4.3 and I got swarmed by 3 shermans and a churchill, one was even a 76 sherman and they could not for the life of me penetrate my armor, I killed all the shermans and the churchill got bombed lmfao this thing was such a beast I dont regret buying it

Honestly, I'm with you on his one Bawz, this tank is awesome, and now that you have the 5.0 panther proto, it makes it an even better line up. I often take this thing out with my 5.3 german tanks and it does very well.

I've never enjoyed this thing at 5.3. I would much rather use a Panther or Tiger, and by the time I would be forced to spawn a KW1C my useless wehraboo teammates have already left. Why would I bother?

"An even better line up" implies there even WAS a lineup before the panther prototype. There wasn't. This thing hung out completely by its lonesome in a br by itself. That's why it wasn't used much. You either uptiered everything else for a premium vehicle or you uptiered this tank to 5.3 where you already have panthers and tigers. Sure it made a really strong backup for them but is buying a premium vehicle worth it for something you're going to be spawning as your 4th or 5th vehicle?

"We're doing fairly well, our teammates - not so great" as a German main this is so real

As of the other german mains you recal as "teammates", this is also very real. Now I have improved from being completely garbage - to atleast slightly garbage. What I mean by that is I managed to get a 1.5KD in the Tiger E which is still not good but it's better than what I used to have (more deaths than kills 💀)

Don't you mean, every time you play germany 5.0 you HAVE to play this tank? There is no other 5.0 besides the new VK tank they added

I think the 5.0 change killed it for a lot of people not because it’s bad at 5.0 but more because literally the only other German tank at 5.0 is the VK30.02M which is brand new. Other than that for the longest time you’d have to either up BR it in a lineup with 5.3 vehicles, or bring an entire lineup of 4.7 tanks with it that may start to struggle.

@@robertharris6092 Okay but part of why the Tiger 1 is at that BR isnt her armor, its also the Gun. The 75mm Pak 40 is good, but its not that good to be on par wiith the tanks the Panther and Tiger face.

I believe nobody uses it anymore because it's simply outlived it's glory. At 4.7 it fought 3.7 to 5.7, not that big of a deal if you were uptiered because your armor can be trolly. At 5.0 it faces 4.0 to 6.0, aka it can now see M-51s, Bulldogs, Cent Mk.1s, and M36B2s all that can easily kill it.

fun fact, however much armour this thing has, you can kill this thing front on with the R3. just aim right of the gun and you'll go right through the gunners sight

The problem is that basically no other nation has a 5.0 lineup so you get dragged into 5.3-6.0. I've noticed any vehicle with an X.0 BR is basically Gaijin devs saying "fuck you, eat these uptiers" because anything meta is X.3 or X.7, which is why the Vatniks are so salty about the IS-2 going to 6.0.

Was thinking of playing this thing out soon, but looks like I'll have to wait another six months now that he's unleashed the horde with this video.

Hello Odd, maybe this will be worth it for a future video: I have never seen the Russian Matilda (MK-II Matilda) with the 76mm gun in a video or in battle. It would be interesting to see how he performs in battle

It's not great, the br murders it. It can still be fun though. Against US and other guns that aren't super powerful it works the best. You can even even use the engine for extra armor like you could with is-2s and such. It's just too slow and faces really good guns at 3.3 and up and the 2 degrees of depression don't help either.

The Russian Matilda is a weird tank to play. It can either be absolutely terrible or completely stomp. In full downtiers its disgustingly good but in a 0.7-1.0 uptier it's not even worth spawning in since it takes forever to get to the battlefield and you'll likely just be oneshot at that br.

May I suggest a combo video? The Russian Matilda with the T-34 gun and the Hurricane MkIIB with Russian 20mm shVAK’s I love weird hybrid vehicles like that where they are armed with mixed weapons from two different nations. Always fun to play them

played this tank a few weeks back when we had all that server trouble and i kept getting crew locked in the u/s tree, so took this out it was fun

It was mostly a line up issue, moving this to 5.0 made it that way. Hell I used to use a panther D with this just to see how it would do at that BR and I would still have solid games.

Hey odd. After some small update not so Long ago, my camera started to shake whenever i hold WEP or shot guns From plane. Its kinda annoying, idk how it turned on because i Never Had that before in 8 years of playing. I noticed that when you use WEP and shot camera doesnt shake. How Did you Turn it off?

I have been grinding out Germany with this thing and I have realized from 4.7 to 5.0 makes a difference but not by much (in my opinion)

I am going to buy this during the October sale. I just started playing the VK 30.02m and really like it. Much more than the Panther. This will be a great lineup.

One of the nicest parts of the KW-1C is the reload. Armor's nice, mobility is fine, but that reload is so nice.

Then last BP there was that challenge about getting multikills in a heavy tank, so I figured i'd give it a shot. One life and 15 kills later I no longer had a reason to play it, but sometimes I still like to, it's so fucking good.

I had hoped that Churchill was a Black Prince, that’d be a good video :)

You need to try out the Crusader III and Cromwell I, they're 3.0~ vehicles that perform at 5.0+; they're basically Pumas/Locusts on steroids. They can penetrate a Tiger 1 frontally, or a Tiger 2s turret, can redden most barrels with a single shot up to 8.0~, and are shoulder stabilised. Leopards 1s at 7.3 are incredibly easy to kill with it too, as their turrets are penetrable with the 6pdr whilst if they angle even slightly they can be penned from the hull. To deal with M48s, destroy their barrel and tracks -- then aim for the neck as you can penetrate her frontally there. A ton of other vehicles you can easily flank and hit from the sides. They're also immune to .50 cal, whilst the Cromwell is protected against some SPAAs and IFV guns. With some aim, you can frequently one shot IFVs and SPAAs; they're also incredibly fast and incredibly small, which you can use with excellent effect for flanking or ambushes. Because of your speed and size, you tend to encounter a lot of Leopards, IFVs, and other lightly armoured vehicles -- in other words, easy pickings and big targets.

My main reason for dropping the kv1c and t14 are because the amount of uptiers i get with them, like bruh I can't get one game where they're atleadt at thier own br

This tank is why my american lineup always has smoke shells. Track it and swamp it in smoke was the only reliable way to combat it because at least you get time to manuver. Also a very underrated feature of this tank is its pretty amazing reload speed.

Weirdly I've never experienced someone immobilising and smoking me.

This thing is a menace in ground sim, and sees regular play there as it has since the tank was introduced.

I definitely want this tank, because it's extremely good. I just don't want to buy a premium if it has no lineup. It still barely does, unless you drag 4.7 up with it. I was waiting for a good sale, or for it to show up in the warbond shop. I'll still go for it when either of those things happen.

When i used to play the Churchill III, i dreaded facing this thing and would run away unless i had a side shot or engine shot. I did not want to brawl with that thing.

That KV-2 was rendered, it was to the right of the house behind the tree. you can clearly see his turret @13:29 in the video.

there are also weak spots around the breach, inside the little "square" :)

Saw a couple yesterday in battle. I still got a kill through the turret. Yes it is very balanced now. Equivalent to the 75 Jumbo.

You should play the T14 next. It's in the exact same curiosity boat.

T14 armour is at least somewhat effective in a full downtier, and US doesn't exactly have any other competition for heavy tanks at that BR. KW1C is just worse than the Tiger at 5.3, and is literally the reason Gaijin added the VK at 5.0, because nobody wanted this premium anymore.

Very good tank. I am new to war thunder. I use this tank with VK30.02M and BR4.0 Panzer 4 in Deck. Even though the Pz4 only has a BR of 4.0 it looks like a good fit. Have to play carefully but it works out fine.

Would it be possible to play more lineups, maybe spotlighting a vehicle with a few others to back it up? It’s getting real old seeing people leave after a single death, and I’m hoping you could be a good influence.

With the new VK 5.0 is finally a decent lineup

It's not fun because it lost all its benefits from being bumped up to seeing 6.0 90% of the time.

This 5.0 lineup is money, especially with the ProtoPanther.

you really are lucky that the enemy teams you face are incompetent, if I did this I'd be dead in the first few minutes of the match.

The best thing thing to come out of the overpowered crafting event was the "make op" crafting memes. Server Hamster, Russian Bias and Germany Suffers were the favorites

Personally most of my favorite tanks that I ran with it were 4.3, 4.0 so it made my favorite lineup potentially 2 brs lower than what I fought

When the IS-2 was 5.7, it was rough playing it. Now? the gravy train is back!

I'd say what killed this tank was the line ups and what they added around the tank. This thing is heavy with a gun from a 3.3 tank (ik it's not the exact same one but still Pz IV F2) the tank has great armor but I rather be fast and with a better gun then slow with alot of armor. Like look at the VK3002 same BR but being played more. But I grinded out the VK with this tank so maybe I'm bias 😂
